Abstract

Photovoltaic (PV) installations and wind turbines that are installed on the rooftops of buildings need to be protected because the layout is in a high position and there is a risk of being struck by lightning. Therefore, a more effective protection system is designed to anticipate electronic damage and fire on all materials in the distribution network, especially the addition of PV and wind turbine installations on building roofs. The purpose of this study is to simulate a lightning protection system on the distribution network and the results of on-grid PV energy conversion using electrical transient analyzer program (ETAP) software. Feeder relay delay times and cascade coordination patterns between outgoing and incoming relays do not overlap. the delay time of the relay working on the feeder is 0.31 s and the coordination pattern of the outgoing relay and incoming relay does not touch each other, so the delay time for the incoming relay is 2.73 s. Then testing the results of PV energy conversion connected to the grid using MATLAB Simulink monitoring obtained data reaching 1.600 Wp at peak power with sun conditions parallel to the PV installation layout.

Abstract

This research investigates the problem of Cu-Zn electrode batteries with NaCl electrolyte. Previous studies have indicated problems with the electrolyte and electrodes after charging, such as turbidity and deposits in the electrolyte, as well as corrosion on the electrodes. Consequently, the battery can only be used once due to a decline in its electrical characteristics after the initial charging. Through this research, improvements were made to the electrical characteristics of the battery by adding Na-EDTA to enhance usage efficiency. The research method involved mixing NaCl solution with the highest electrical conductivity, using six pairs of Cu-Zn electrodes arranged in series. The physical conditions of the electrolyte and electrodes were observed, and electrical characteristics were measured. The research results indicate that the use of NaCl+Na-EDTA electrolyte produces a battery voltage of 4.20 volts with a current of 2 Ah and can be used twice. Charging with solar panels can be done in 1 hour, but the frequency is limited to two times.

Abstract

Abstract

The hybrid grid-connected power generation system combines solar power, wind power, and the PLN grid to meet the electricity demands of facilities such as schools, laboratories, mosques, and kindergartens at MTs Parmiyatu Wassa'adah School. Due to insufficient wind speed below the turbine's operational threshold, wind turbines cannot contribute to electricity generation, making solar power the primary energy source. Solar power capacity is crucial for meeting the electricity needs of these facilities. This study applies the Fuzzy method to analyze the optimal utilization of solar panels in a grid-connected hybrid system for electricity demand. Simulation results indicate three levels of solar panel utilization, with the most optimal performance achieved when school electricity usage is low, and additional loads are minimized.

Abstract

Currently, many renewable energies are utilized by the world for electrical energy sources. In the future, renewable energy will be a new breakthrough for researchers to develop a technology whose energy source comes from nature and can be continuously renewed without limits. One of the developments in this technology is the development of alternative batteries in salt water (NaCl) solutions. NaCl is a type of electrolyte solution whose solution properties are able to conduct electric current. In electrolyte solutions, electrodes play an important role as a medium for conducting electricity (conductors) in batteries. This battery is designed using copper (Cu) electrodes as the cathode and zinc (Zn) as the anode with the voltaic cell method. The purpose of this study is to replace the H2SO4 solution with a more environmentally friendly salt water electrolyte solution. Based on the test results, the alternative battery produces an electric voltage of 4.17 Volts at a concentration of 3 M using 6 electrode cells arranged in series and applied to solar panels

Abstract

Renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal (T) used in tropical Indonesia are still not optimal in converting electrical energy. This is caused by the movement of the sun which is not centered on the surface of the photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T). Based on this, PV/T technology was developed with a parabolic tracker system combined with T control with the aim of optimizing electrical energy conversion. The testing technique was carried out using an experimental method by comparing the installation of PV/T technology with a parabolic tracker system and a flat PV position. In the PV/T parabolic tracker, the supporting components use aluminum foil technology and heat transfer fluid (HTF) to reduce excess heat on the panel surface. The parabolic tracker system is implemented through a centralized system following the sun and aluminum foil and HTF technology function to keep the surface temperature stable. The results of PV performance testing at peak loads carried out at 10:00 am-3:00 pm, the installation of flat PV produced an average DC power of 71.68 Wp and the parabolic tracker system produced an increase in average DC power of 84.57 Wp, while with an increase in power of 17.98% during fluctuating weather conditions.
