Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji korelasi antara sikap "rasa takut akan Tuhan" dan prestasi akademik di kalangan siswa kelas sepuluh di SMA Swasta GKPI Padang Bulan, Medan, Indonesia, pada tahun ajaran 2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasional deskriptif, dengan melibatkan seluruh populasi siswa kelas sepuluh yang berjumlah 30 orang sebagai sampel. Dokumentasi dan kuesioner menggunakan 30 item pilihan ganda (a, b, c, d) sebagai instrumen penelitian. Uji reliabilitas dilakukan untuk memastikan keabsahan kuesioner. Analisis data menunjukkan distribusi normal untuk kedua data rasa takut akan Tuhan (X²_hitung < X²_tabel = 22,33 < 43,77) dan data prestasi akademik siswa (X²_hitung < X²_tabel = 18,85 < 43,77). Uji statistik menunjukkan adanya hubungan linear antara kedua variabel tersebut. Analisis lebih lanjut menggunakan uji korelasi sederhana menunjukkan korelasi positif yang signifikan, dengan nilai r sebesar 0,453 yang melebihi nilai kritis sebesar 0,361. Uji-t mengkonfirmasi signifikansi ini dengan nilai t sebesar 3,41 yang melebihi nilai kritis sebesar 1,69 pada tingkat signifikansi 95%. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya korelasi positif yang signifikan antara rasa takut akan Tuhan dan prestasi akademik di kalangan siswa kelas sepuluh dalam penelitian ini.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the interplay between religious tourism and sustainable economic development in Sibea-bea, a potential tourist destination on Samosir Island, North Sumatra Province. Through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, the research aims to understand how religious tourism can be a catalyst for economic growth while preserving cultural integrity and environmental sustainability. The study focuses on the pilgrimage practices, economic activities, and environmental policies that shape the sustainable development of Sibea-bea. It also examines the strategies employed by local stakeholders to promote Sibea-bea as a unique religious tourist destination within the global market. By analyzing the perceptions and experiences of both locals and tourists, the research seeks to provide insights into the effective management of religious sites that can contribute to the economy without compromising the locale’s sanctity and ecological balance. The findings are expected to offer a framework for policymakers and tourism developers to foster a symbiotic relationship between religious devotion and economic prosperity, ensuring the long-term viability of Sibea-bea as a sacred yet economically thriving destination.

Abstract

Religious tourism is a form of travel that not only offers spiritual experiences but also plays a significant role in enhancing environmental awareness among communities. This study aims to analyze the role of religious tourism in building environmental awareness in Tangkahan, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research adopts a qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and literature reviews. The findings reveal that religious tourism in Tangkahan has successfully raised higher awareness among tourists and local communities regarding environmental issues. Activities such as waste management, flora and fauna conservation, and environmental education integrated into religious tourism programs have effectively increased community participation in preserving the environment. Furthermore, the study found that the sustainable utilization of natural resources in religious tourism activities not only provides economic benefits to the community but also protects the environment. The conclusion of this research suggests that religious tourism in Tangkahan can serve as an effective means of fostering environmental awareness and could be used as a model for other regions to develop environmentally friendly tourism. The study offers recommendations for the development of more intensive environmental education programs and collaboration between the government, tourism operators, and local communities.

Abstract

This study examines the correlation between the use of internet media and the spiritual development of 11th-grade students at Immanuel Private Christian Senior High School, Medan, in 2023. The study uses a descriptive-correlational research design and encompasses the entire population of 30 students. Data are collected using a questionnaire and a spiritual development scale, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results show that the students use internet media frequently and mostly for social and entertainment purposes, and have a moderate level of spiritual development. Results also show that there is a significant negative correlation between the use of internet media and the spiritual development of the students, as well as for some of its dimensions. The study discusses the implications and limitations of the results, and suggests directions for further research.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Sunday School teachers in shaping children's character through Christian religious education. The objective of this research is to identify the teaching strategies implemented and their impact on children's character development. The study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach conducted at Bethel Indonesia Church, Hotel Pelangi, Simpang Selayang, Medan. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that Sunday School teachers play a crucial role in character formation through role modeling, Bible-based learning, and positive social interactions. Creative teaching methods such as storytelling, role-playing, and interactive group activities have been proven to enhance children's understanding of Christian values. However, challenges such as a lack of training, limited facilities, and varying levels of student participation remain obstacles. It is recommended that churches provide regular training for Sunday School teachers, improve the availability of relevant teaching materials, and develop a more structured curriculum suited to children's growth. Additionally, parental involvement in character education is expected to strengthen learning outcomes. By enhancing the role of Sunday School teachers, this study contributes to the moral and spiritual development of children in Bethel Indonesia Church, Hotel Pelangi, Simpang Selayang, Medan.

Abstract

Character education is a central mandate in Indonesia’s national education framework, emphasizing the development of moral integrity, responsibility, and spiritual maturity. Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers play a strategic role in shaping students’ character by integrating biblical values with moral instruction, role modeling, and spiritual mentoring. This study examines how CRE teachers contribute to character formation among eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sibolga during the 2024/2025 academic year. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research collected data through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that CRE teachers perform four crucial functions: (1) moral educator, (2) role model, (3) motivator, and (4) spiritual mentor. These roles collectively enhance students’ honesty, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, respectfulness, and spiritual devotion. However, teachers face significant challenges, including digital media influence, peer pressure, and inconsistent parental involvement. The study concludes that CRE teachers significantly influence character formation when supported by consistent modeling and collaborative school–family partnerships
