Abstract

Currently, alternative therapies are widely used with the aim of reducing pain, swelling and increasing blood circulation. Infrared rays are used in research as a therapy for healing incisional wounds because infrared can penetrate cells or tissue more deeply. The experimental animal samples were 24 male Wistar rats treated with K (-) without infrared therapy, P1 was given infrared exposure at a distance of 24 cm and for 20 minutes. P2 was given infrared exposure at a distance of 16 cm and a time of 20 minutes and P3 was given infrared exposure at a distance of 7 cm and a time of 20 minutes. The results showed that the 12th day change in wound healing occurred in the control group = 0.1 cm; P1= 0.2 cm; P2 = 0.4 cm and P3 = 0.5 cm. The conclusion of the research was that effective infrared therapy was shown in treatment group 1 (P1) with an exposure distance of ± 24 cm, because infrared radiation entered the subcutaneous tissue without excessive stimulation or heating

Abstract

Tubuh manusia dapat mengalami Osteoartritis (OA), hal ini menyerang sendi sebagai penopang beban tubuh, dan didalam menajemen OA maka dilakukan kombinasi fisioterapi dan terapi latihan. Terapi latihan membantu menggerakkan bagian-bagian tubuh dan mengurangi rasa sakit otot, maka latihan peregangan dilakukan selama 15 menit. Metode yang digunakan sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian adalah metode deskriptif dan pemberian pelatihan peregangan. Populasi yang digunakan adalah Lansia di Posyandu, dan Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah total sampling sebesar 42 peserta. Alat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kursi, flichat gambaran pengetahuan tentang pelatihan gerakan sendi serta pemutaran video untuk memberi contoh gambaran gerakan senam. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu dengan memberi pelatihan berupa latihan gerakan senam kaki, posisi tumit dilantai dan angkat kedua jari-jari kaki lakukan sebanyak 10 kali hitungan, mengangkat kedua tumit dan kedua jari-jari kaki tetap dilantai lakukan sebanyak 10 kali hitungan, mengangkat kedua kaki keatas serta meluruskan lutut lakukan 10 kali hitungan, dan mengangkat satu kaki kanan gerakkan menuju arah samping membentuk 900 . Kesimpulan,terdapat lansia sebanyak 45 % dengan usia 61-70 tahun, dengan melakukan gerak peregangan senam sendi terutama pada kaki maka otot-otot pada kaki akan membantu sendi untuk dapat menopang tubuh, sehingga kualitas hidup lansia akan meningkat.

Abstract

Background The wound healing process after tooth extraction includes inflammation, granulation tissue formation, intracellular matrix deposition and tissue remodeling. IL-6 acts as a biomarker of the inflammatory process. In old age, especially women, the menopause process cannot be avoided and at that age the need for tooth extraction treatment is quite high. If there is failure in the wound healing process, in this case the inflammation process will prolong, increasing the probability of infection, one of which is alveolar osteitis. The menopause process affects estrogen levels in the blood, so the formation of collagen as the main ingredient for tissue regeneration is reduced, and IL-6 can increase during times of inflammation, especially the chronic phase. Objectives This study compared inflammatory IL-6 levels using the ELISA method in menopausal and non-menopausal mice. Methode In this study there were 10 rats (rattus novergicus) which were then grouped into 2 groups, namely control and treatment. Control group where no oophorectomy was performed (non-menopausal) while the treatment was carried out by oophorectomy (menopause). Then 1 month later, the tooth was extracted and observed on the 3rd day after extraction. Result showed that the average IL6 level in the control group was 0.0868 (ng/L) and in the treatment group was 0.1912 (ng/L). then continued with the Mann Whitney non-parametric statistical test with a significance level of 95% (p<0.05). Conclusions There was a significant difference between the treatment and control groups, where IL-6 levels in the menopausal group were higher than in the non-menopausal group.

Abstract

Introduction: IL-6 acts as a biomarker of the inflammatory process. In elderly, especially women, the demand for tooth extraction treatment is quite high. A failure in the wound healing process during the menopausal period can prolong the inflammation process, thereby increasing the probability of infection, including alveolar osteitis. The menopausal process affects estrogen levels in the blood, which leads to reduced collagen formation as a key component of tissue regeneration. IL-6 levels can also increase during inflammation, especially in the chronic phase following tooth extraction. The study aims to analyze the differences in inflammatory IL-6 levels between menopausal and non-menopausal rats. Methods: This study applied an in vivo experimental design. A total of 30 Rattus novergicus were divided into two groups: a control group and a treatment group. The control group consisted of rats in which no oophorectomy was performed (non-menopausal), while the treatment group underwent ovariectomy to induce menopause. One after the procedure, tooth extraction were performed, and observations were conducted on days 3, 7, and 14 post-extractions. IL-6 levels were measured using ELISA from blood serum samples. The data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA.  Results: The average IL-6 levels (in ng/L) in the control (non-menopausal) group on days 3, 7, and 14 were 0.087, 0.318, and 0.247, respectively. The average IL-6 levels in the treatment (menopausal) group were 0.191, 0.452, and 0.318, respectively. The One-Way ANOVA test showed no significant difference between the groups (p=0.799 > 0.05).  Conclusion: The trend of higher IL-6 levels in the menopausal group suggests a potential impact of hormonal changes on post-extraction inflammation. Although no significant difference was found, the elevated IL-6 levels in menopausal rats indicate a potential effect of estrogen deficiency on the inflammatory response following tooth extraction.
