Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is autoimmune disease that attacks joints and synovial tissues. Rheumatoid Arthritis is characterized by inflammation that involves production of cytokines such as Interleukin 6 (IL-6). Increasing of interleukin 6 has correlation with activity and progressivity of the disease. This research was designed to know whether IL- 6 could be used as indicator progressivity of RA. The method that used for measuring IL-6 level is ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay), using the principle antigen-antibody binding. In early stage there were 9 persons (S01, S02, S03, S04, S07, S08, S09, S10 and S14) with of IL-6 level (mean : 3.640 pg/mL), intermediate stage there were 3 persons (S06, S13 and S15) with IL-6 level (mean : 12.453 pg/mL), late stage : 3 persons (S05, S11 and S12) with IL-6 level (mean : 59.349 pg/mL).

Abstract

Background: Classification of malocclusion, especially in the class II division, has various biological variations and dental abnormalities with the presence of distocclusion of the first molar relation and proclination of the maxillary fourth incisor and causing the patient's profile to become convex. Aesthetic correction in class II division 1 is determined by the choice of treatment and taking into account the rotational pattern of the mandible. Objectives: To determine the effect of orthodontic treatment in relation to changes in mandibular rotation with lower anterior facial height and to determine the parameters of the effect of mandibular rotation on lower anterior facial height (LAFH) in Angle Class II/1 dentoskeletal malocclusion. Methods: Cephalometric data were obtained from lateral cephalograms presented before and after treatment. Assessed changes in Y-axis FH angle, SN - mandibular plane angle (GoMe) and NPog-FH angle facial angle. Data analysis with Pearson was used to correlate the mandibular rotation parameter (angle) with the lower anterior facial height parameter, namely ANS-Me (linear) (p > 0.05). Results: Group 1 access maxilla, normal mandible showed a significant correlation on the Y-FH Axis with ANS-Me. Group 2 with normal maxillary, retrognathic mandibles, showed a significant correlation between NPog-FH with ANS-Me and NPog-FH with extrusion of the upper/lower first molars. Group 3, the combination group which is the maxillary retrognathic access, showed a significant correlation between Sn-GoMe and ANS-Me. Group 4 is with different teeth, but normal bone (grade 1). Conclusion: There is a relationship between changes in mandibular rotation and changes in lower anterior facial height (LAFH) in the orthodontic treatment of class II/1 Angle dentoskeletal malocclusion.

Abstract

Anxiety is assumed to be an unclear feeling, which causes worry, fear of everything that does not necessarily happen. This anxiety has a psychological impact on a person including it can affect learning achievement. Various studies related to anxiety theory state that gender affects the level of anxiety. Women are considered more prone to anxiety than men. In this study, researchers measured men's anxiety degrees compared to women when taking computer-based tests (CBT) during the pandemic. Exams with this method are suspected to be one of the triggers for anxiety in medical students. The purpose of this study was to compare the level of anxiety of students and female students in facing CBT at Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya during the pandemic. This study used a cross-sectional approach with a total sampling technique. The total number of respondents was 60 people, 16 men and 44 women. Respondents' anxiety degrees were measured by a measurement scale of depression, anxiety, and stress or what is known as the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale 21 (DASS-21). The results showed that 12.5% of men and 31.8% of women were in the heavy and very heavy group. The conclusion of this study is that the level of anxiety of women is higher than those men. Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Betel leaf contains essential oils consisting of bethelphenol, kavikol, sesquiterpenes, hydroxycavikol, cavibetol, estragol, eugenol and carvacrol. Essential oils are antibacterial due to the presence of phenol compounds and their derivatives that can denature the bacterial cell proteins. Basil leaves contain compounds from essential oils, namely 1,8-cineole, ß-bisabolene, and methyl eugenol. These three ingredients are soluble to ethanol and can cause damage to the cell membranes of the Streptococcus mutans bacteria, which are members of the normal oral flora but can turn into pathogens if the balance of normal flora is disturbed. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in the activity of the antibacterial of decoction betel leaf (piper betle L. ) with a decoction of basil leaves (ocimum sanctum) against growth of bacteria Streptococcus mutans (in vitro study). Method: this observational research with disk diffusion techniques. This study observed and measured the diameter of the inhibitory zone in MHA formed by decoction of betel leaf (piper betle L) and basil leaf (ocimum sanctum) in units of millimeters (mm). There were 2 groups with 16 replications. Results: the results of the description test showed that the antibacterial activity of the betel leaf decoction and the highest decoction of basil leaf was 17 mm and the lowest was 15 mm, but the average antibacterial value of betel leaf decoction (15,81) greater than the average value of antibacterial activity of basil leaf (15.75). This is because there are chemicals contained in betel leaf similar as contained in basil leaf, namely essential oils. Conclusion: there is no difference in the antibacterial activity of decoction betel leaf with decoction basil leaf against growth of bacteria Streptococcus mutans.
