Abstract

This research aims to describe the utilization of number line media through peer teaching methods in student learning with hearing impairments. This study used an action research design with research participants of class III SLB B Karnnamanohara Yogyakarta. The data collection techniques used in this study were participative observation, field notes, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used data triangulation techniques. The results showed that (1) Teachers and students could be assisted in the learning process using number line media through the peer teaching method. (2) The peer teaching method combined with number line media helps to establish interactions between teachers and students in the learning process. (3) Student learning outcomes in Mathematics can achieve KKM scores after using number line media through the peer teaching method.

Abstract

Adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may be at higher risk compared to their typically developing peers. In this study, it was aimed to compare individuals with and without autism spectrum disorder affected by the Covid-19 pandemic process with their peers in terms of obesity, physical activity and sedentary behaviors. Methods: 64 individuals with ASD and 78 healthy individuals were included in the study. An online questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic data, BMI, physical activity and sedentary behavior habits was applied to the participants. Results: Adolescents with autism spectrum disorders were found to be less physically active and more likely to be overweight and obese compared to their typically developing peers (0.001***). BMI (kg/m2) increased compared to before Covid-19. Sedentary behavior increased during quarantine (0.001***). Participation in physical activity decreased in individuals with autism spectrum disorder. As a result: shows the need for targeted programs to reduce unhealthy weight status and support physical activity opportunities for adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. Keywords: Autism Spectrum Disorder, COVID-19, Obesity, physical activity, Sedentary Behaviors

Abstract

Physical activity is one of the vital components of students with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is endemic in various countries, including Indonesia. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of physical activity of students with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants of this study were 17 students with disabilities (intellectual disability, hearing impairment, speech impairment) aged 8-14 years. This research used a quantitative descriptive research method. The tool used was the Children's Physical Activity Questionnaire (PAQ-C) distributed through Google Forms. Data analysis included quantitative descriptive statistics analysis and the analytical need testing using IBM SPSS 24 applications. The results showed that the physical activity of students with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic was mostly distributed in the low category, nine students (50%). This study implied that students should maintain and increase physical activity by doing light physical activity at least 30 minutes a day and maintaining immunity by eating nutritious foods such as vitamins, fruits, vegetables, and healthy foods to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. It will be interesting to study adaptive learning more deeply during pandemics in a broad scope in Indonesia for further research.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the form of involvement of teachers and parents in developing social interaction of autistic children at school. The instruments used in this study were developed based on the theory of teacher and parent involvement according to Epstein (2010), which includes six typologies: parenting, communication, volunteering, learning at home, decision-making, and collaborating with the community. The research was conducted by disseminating an online questionnaire using a Google form. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive with pivot table analysis. The data is grouped into Excel format based on the research problem, calculated using pivot table analysis, and the results are interpreted as a pivot chart. The results of the study show that most teachers have provided training to parents on how to improve children's social interaction skills, but collaboration with outside parties is still minimal. Most parents have also actively taught their children how to interact socially well.

Abstract
