Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the learning difficulties of mathematics experienced by students in terms of mathematical communication skills. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were 29 seventh grade 1 Junior High School students. The data collection technique in this study uses a question instrument that is given in the form of a written test, while the data analysis techniques in this study are data collection, data processing, data presentation and conclusion drawing. So the conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that there are 2 difficulties in learning mathematics students, namely; (1) the difficulty of the concept, and (2) verbal difficulties. The causes of these difficulties are due to students' low mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

The aim of this study is for examine the learning independence of junior high school students whose learning use problem solving approach compared by scientific approach. Increased mathematical reasoning abilities of students who learn using the problem solving approach compared by scientific approach. The method used in this study lis quasi-experimental by taking two classes not randomly, in the first class get learned by using problem solving approach and the second class get learned by using scientific approach. The population is students in Bandung City with a sample that took two classes of VII which consisted of experimental class and the control class. The instrument used is reasoning abilities question on triangle and quadrilaterals problem and students learning independence questionnaires by using a Likert scale to see students’ learning independence toward problem solving approaches. The data prossesed in this study are pretest, posttest and n-gain scores using the help of Microsoft Office Excel 2010 and IBM SPSS Statistic 24. The result obtained are mathematical reasoning abilities and learning independence of junior high school students whose learning uses problem solving approaches better than those who using scientific approach, an increase in mathematical reasoning ability is better than one that uses scientific approach.

Abstract

This research is development research that aims to produce mathematics learning media using macromedia flash software on geometry material and find qualitymedia based on the assessment of learning experts, media experts, students. The development model used is descriptive procedural development model, steps that must be followed to produce a product that starts with standard content analysis followed, collecting references, designing media and creating learning media. The learning media validated by material and learning expert, media experts. The researchers have succeeded developing learning media is packaged in CD containing competency standards to understand the properties of cubes, cuboid, prisms,pyramid determine part and size. According to the assessment of media experts, the media learning material developed has very good quality (SB) with a score of 140.9 with an ideal percentage of 82.888% so it is suitable for use as a learning media.

Abstract

The research was conducted to improve student learning outcomes on Arithmetic Rows and Series materials by applying the discovery learning model, based on of student learning outcomes being still low and difficulties in understanding and remembering the concepts of Arithmetic Rows and Series materials. The type of research used is classroom action research (CAR) which lasts for 2 cycles. The subjects of this research were 26 students of class X from one of the Vocational Schools in Cimahi. Data collection techniques in the form of observations, interviews and test questions. The data obtained are then analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the percentage of student learning outcomes with scores above 70 before being given action or pre-cycle was 0.00% then after being given action the percentage continued to increase in each cycle. The percentage in the first cycle was 7.69% and in the second cycle was 96.15%. All data results in this study were processed using Microsoft Excel by looking for the percentage of the average value in each cycle. Based on the results of the research, it can be seen that the use of the discovery learning model can improve the learning outcomes of Vocational  School students on arithmetic sequences and series.

Abstract

This observe aims to decide the effects of college students' solutions to the information presentation material. Mastery of data presentation material is one of the activities in making reviews on studies results which have been carried out so that they can be understood and analyzed according with the preferred objectives. The statistics presented have to be simple and clear so that it is straightforward to study. The presentation of records is supposed so that observations can without difficulty apprehend what is presented for making assessments, comparisons and others. This study aims to present a data using a problem based learning assisted by Microsoft Excel. This research method uses descriptive qualitative method. The population in this study were seventh grade junior high school students involving a sample of 30 students. Data collection was obtained by documenting the results of student tests based on instrument questions on the presentation of data containing indicators of competency achievement. The results obtained by students with an overall total score who can solve the problem of presenting data calculated using Microsoft Excel based on percentage (%) get 81% which includes the interpretation which is moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical understanding skills on the One Variable Linear Equation (PLSV) material. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the subject of this research are 15 students of class VII in one of the junior high schools in Cimahi who have a Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) of 7.00. In this study, the instrument used was 5 about the material of One Variable Linear Equation (PLSV) which focused more on mathematical understanding ability, then conducted an initial test before the action (pretest), and the second test after giving the action (posttest). The data collection technique in this study was 5 test questions, then the score data on the pretest and posttest were tested for the difference between the two averages. The results of this study indicate that aspects of students' mathematical understanding abilities have increased which can be seen from the questions tested on each test. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the contextual application of students' mathematical understanding abilities has a positive impact on improving student learning outcomes in the one-variable linear equation (PLSV) material.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine students' mathematical communication skills which included the material of Single Variable Linear Equation (PLSV) using a contextual approach. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the subject of this research are 15 students of class VII-D in one of the public junior high schools in Cimahi city in the even semester of 2021-2022 which has a Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) value of 7.00. The data collection technique was carried out by conducting an initial test which was carried out before the action (pre-test), then doing the first cycle test and the second cycle which was carried out after giving the action (post-test), each cycle was carried out in 2 meetings. From each of the test questions, the results obtained that aspects of students' mathematical communication skills always increased from each cycle. Based on the data obtained in the initial pre-test there were 26.7%, the first cycle was 40%, there was an increase in the second cycle, namely 86.67% of students who completed. The conclusion of this study is that the mathematical communication skills of seventh grade junior high school students using a contextual approach can be improved.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to determine the motivation to learn mathematics in class VII students of  SMP Negeri 1 Margaasih. This study applies the problem-Based Learning model using the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) Cooperative type. The Kemmis & Tanggart research model was used three cycles. The subjects of this study were student of class VII-E in group C with 10 student. The data obtained in this study through a student learning motivation questionnaire. Questionnaire data on students’ learning motivation was analyzed in the form of percentage. The results of the research were obtained for three cycles as follows: cycle 1 with a percentage of 77.2%, cycle 2 with a percentage of  85.4%, and cycle 3 with a percentage of  90%. The conclusion based on this research is that the use of the Problem Based Learning approach using the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) cooperative is effective in increasing the motivation to learn mathematics in class VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Margaasih.

Abstract

Geometri analitik merupakan salah satu mata kuliah yang wajib ditempuh olah mahasiswa pendidikan matematika, namun mahasiswa masih kesulitan dalam menguasai konsep-konsep yang ada di dalamnya. Diperlukan modul ajar yang memperhatikan psikologi kognitif untuk membantu mahasiswa dalam mempelajari konsep-konsep yang ada.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan modul ajar geometri analitik berbasis cognitive load theory untuk meningkatkan berpikir reflektif matematik mahasiswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian research and development (R&D) dengan menggunakan model Thiagarajan 4D dimana terdiri dari 4 tahap, yaitu tahap pendefinisian (define), perancangan (design), pengembangan (develop) dan penyebaran (disseminate). Subjek penelitiannya adalah mahasiswa angkatan 2021 IKIP Siliwangi dengan jumlah 20 orang yang mengikuti perkuliahan geometri analitik. Pengumpulan data diperoleh dari tes kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematik (TBRM) dalam bentuk 5 soal uraian terkait materi geometri analitik. Modul ajar geometri analitik dilihat kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan  keefektifannya. Hasil dari dari penelitian ini diperoleh persentase kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan berturut-turut 87,42%, 79,05%, dan 70%. Kemudian bahwa rata-rata skor pretes TBRM adalah 43 dan postes TBRM adalah 71,25 terjadi peningkatan atau perbaikan skor rata-rata nilai sebelum dan sesudah diberikannya modul ajar geometri analitik sebesar 28,25.Kata kunci: Cognitive load theory ; modul geometri analitik; reflektif matematik  Analytical geometry is one of the subjects that must be taken by mathematics education students, but students still have difficulty mastering the concepts in it. Teaching modules are needed that pay attention to cognitive psychology to help students learn existing concept. The purpose of this research is to develop an analytic geometry teaching module based on cognitive load theory to improve students' mathematical reflective thinking. This type of research is research and development (R&D) using the Thiagarajan 4D model which consists of 4 stages, namely the define, design, develop and disseminate stages. The research subjects were students of the 2021 IKIP Siliwangi class with a total of 20 students taking analytical geometry courses. Data collection was obtained from the mathematical reflective thinking ability (TBRM) test in the form of 5 description questions related to analytical geometry material. The analytical geometry teaching module is seen for its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The results of this study obtained the percentage of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of 87.42%, 79.05% and 70%, respectively. Then that the average TBRM pretest score was 43 and the TBRM posttest was 71.25, there was an increase or improvement in the average score before and after the analytic geometry teaching module was given by 28.25.Keywords: Cognitive load theory; analytical geometry module; reflective mathematics

Abstract

One of the mathematics topics covered in class X SMA is the Three Variable Linear Equation System (SPLTV). Students frequently make mistakes when attempting to solve SPLTV-related problems. This research aims to examine the errors made by class X SMA students when attempting to solve mathematical connection problems in SPLTV content. The type of research is qualitative descriptive. There were 36 class X students of SMAN 1 Batujajar as participant in this study, 11 male and 25 female. This study collected data using a five-question of the SPLTV mathematical connection test. The collected data is then examined, the data processed and presented, and conclusions are drawn from the processed data. As indicated by the discoveries of this review, students' errors in solving mathematical connection problems involving SPLTV material contain a very high criteria for indicators of seeking connections or other procedures in equivalent representations and a high criteria for indicators that make use of connections between mathematical topics and other topics.
