Abstract

Turmeric is used by cultural communities to treat nasal congestion in infants with different methods, curcumin in turmeric is scars on the skin, and innovation in turmeric is needed. This study aims to compare the temperature and water evaporation of burnt turmeric (Sample Turmeric A), turmeric mixed with whiting (Sample Turmeric B), and natural turmeric (Sample Turmeric C); determine the appropriate sample treatment to treat nasal congestion in infants; produce innovative products to treat turmeric discoloration on the skin in the use of turmeric. This research is an experiment, a preliminary study in the form of interviews and in-depth observations of the community about the use of turmeric for health that is usually carried out by cultural communities, then analyzed across the fields of STEAM-2C so that comparison results and innovative products are found in the form of Turmeric Stick. It was found that the temperature of the Turmeric A sample was 309.3 K, the B turmeric sample was 305.2 K, and the C turmeric sample was 308.1 K. The comparison of evaporation of turmeric Samples A (95666.49): Sample B (93147.04): Sample C (94925.61) is 1: 1: 1, evaporation of water through the Hertz-Knudsen equation. The conclusion is that variant C is more appropriate for dealing with nasal congestion in infants, and the turmeric innovation product in the form of turmeric sticks is a turmeric packaging solution to overcome the problem of turmeric color that causes scars.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has given a new nuance to the world of education, learning which is usually done face-to-face has become based on digital technology. However, online learning has an unfavorable effect in improving students' literacy and numeracy skills. Both abilities are needed by students to be able to solve problems well. The purpose of this study was to develop a two-tier multiple choice complex test, Minimum Competency Assessment type, including digital-based literacy and numeracy indicators, for analyzing problem-solving students’ level 11 in reaction rate topic. This research is an R&D research with ADDIE model. The test subjects 54 students of class XI High School 1 Welahan. The instrument has been tested for content validity, construct, and reliability. Content validity tested by six expert validators, with a score of 40.83 out of a total of 44, very valid. The construct validity, and reliability were tested using Rasch model analysis. The results show, from the 20 items developed, there are 3 items that are not valid, namely number 13, 12 and 19. The reliability test showed very good results, with index value of 0.91. Digital-based test instruments are considered more practical than paper-based tests, because they make it easier to assess and provide feedback. The results of the practicality test obtained as many as 92% (50 of 54) students gave a positive response. The existence of this test instrument makes it easier for teachers to train students' problem-solving processes and analyze problem-solving abilities more quickly through the analysis of the Rasch.

Abstract

This study attempts to present a thorough picture of how blended and mixed learning are used to promote meaningful learning at the secondary and higher education levels. To synthesize academic research pertaining to the use of blended learning in education, a systematic review of the literature was conducted. 50 articles out of a total of 1409 that were screened met the requirements for inclusion. The findings point to a number of beneficial roles in constructing modern education at the secondary and postsecondary levels. The effects of blended learning have a significant impact on improving how students engage with low-tech infrastructure while studying. In the new norm, teachers must be at the center of more efficient decision-making on blended learning. This paper's content can be used to describe the mixed-methods trend in education and how it helps to provide engaging learning opportunities.

Abstract

The science education curriculum in Indonesia is concerned with cultural characteristics local so that it can be used as a potential to develop education in several regions. increase in scientific research integrated with local culture is called ethnoscience. Thus, it's miles essential to understand the development tendencies of research on ethnoscience in activity science learning. The kind of research used in this research is a systematic literature review of ethnoscience in activity science learning. In this literature review, we analyzed 60 articles published from 2010 to 2020 and indexed on the web of science. The results of the study indicate that there are still several objects or research studies that have not been studied by researchers regarding the ethnoscience approach in activity science learning. Even though the quantity of research has increased, the amount continues to be small, with most tracking results 2020 as many as 18 articles. Most researchers on the ethnoscience approach in science learning are still dominated by researchers from Indonesia who have published in the journal of physics. In terms of the subject matter studied, the physics subject matter was the largest among chemistry and biology subjects, although the difference was not large. Data analysis using the NVivo application to know the ethnoscience research gap in science learning, it is found that there is still a chance to develop a learning model based on local culture and learning media that is integrated with other appropriate approaches.

Abstract

Abstrak. Hydrocarbon material is a material that examines abstract concepts related to atoms and structures. However, Generation Z has characteristics that rely heavily on digital technology. Characteristics of materials and students who are different, of course, will hinder achieving the objectives of learning hydrocarbons. Chemistry learning will be effective if hydrocarbon material is integrated through the development of vlog media content that raises local wisdom or ethno-STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). So, will provide in-depth and comprehensive understanding of students into scientific knowledge. The research aims to produce an ethno-STEM integrated vlog media and its effect on the provision of conservation characters and chemistry literacy of students. The development of ethno-STEM integrated vlog media in research uses the 4D method, namely definition, design, development, and dissemination aimed at class XI science students who are studying hydrocarbon material at SMA Negeri 3 Batam. The data was obtained through observation and structured interviews with 1 chemistry teacher and 17 students. The results of the validity of the material (0,87), media (0,77), teacher practicality (0,79), student responses on the small-scale (0,79), large-scale (0,83). The vlog media (0,91), conservation character (0,63) and chemistry literacy correlation coefficient (0,54). The reliability of the question (0,58), discriminating power (0,22) and difficulty level of the item pre-test (0,76) and post test (0,93). So, it can be concluded that the vlog media developed is valid, practical, and effective as local wisdom content to equip conservation characters and chemistry literacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the Implementation of the Inquiry Learning Model Integrated Ethno-STEM for Secondary Metabolites on the Concept Mastery and Conservation Characteristics of Students. This research is part of the Basic Research of Higher Education Excellence in 2022. The research begins in 2021 by (1) developing an ethno-STEM integrated inquiry learning model with the Sudarmin syntax through the define, design, and development stages, (2) the preparation of research instruments for mastering chemical concepts organic and conservation characters which are further validated. In this research, the application of an evaluation tool for mastery of conservation concepts and characters assisted by the google form application after learning with the Ethno-STEM integrated inquiry learning model that has been produced. The research subjects are students of chemistry education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMIPA) of Universitas Negeri Semarang for the 2021/2022 academic year. At the end of the implementation of the Ethno-STEM Integrated Inquiry learning model with the Sudarmin syntax the data were analyzed. The results of the research concluded (a) Students' concept mastery scores still need to be improved, because based on N-gain scores there are still many moderate categories, (b) understanding of the conservation character of students regarding secondary metabolites from Indonesian tropical forest plants and their benefits in achieving good categories, (c) ) The overall results of the learning activities show a positive response to the model that has been developed.
