Abstract

The effects of the pandemic in the world of education have as many influences as the adjustment of learning models. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of blended learning as an alternative to online education in the new normal era. This was an experimental study with a one-shot case study design conducted in several public high schools in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The respondents involved in this study were 70 teachers who were determined using a simple random sampling technique. The data was collected by using a questionnaire. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the effect of the effectiveness of the application of the blended learning model during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed that the effectiveness of educational programs after using blended learning is 95.05%, much higher than the effectiveness of educational programs before using blended learning with a score of 73.24%. The blended learning model affects the effectiveness of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic by 85.20%. Learning during the COVID-19 pandemic that implements the blended learning model will run more effectively and more successfully. Schools need to apply the blended learning model because the use of this method is effective, efficient, and more successful in the new normal era.

Abstract

Abstract

The low science learning outcomes in elementary schools remain a persistent challenge globally, particularly in developing educational contexts. This study addresses the problems in science learning in Indonesian elementary schools. Data were collected from 32 fifth-grade students and one teacher at SDN 2 Blimbing Klaten during October 2025, employing a qualitative descriptive approach. Findings revealed that low student motivation, characterized by limited engagement and activity levels, coupled with monotonous teaching methods and limited media variation, represent key barriers to effective science learning. These findings align with international research demonstrating the critical importance of student-centered approaches and diverse instructional strategies. Implications for policy and practice are discussed in relation to contemporary international frameworks for science education reform.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning process at Keputran 2 Elementary School Yogyakarta using the Provus evaluation model. The primary objective is to identify discrepancies between established process standards and their implementation in classroom practices. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and the principal, and document analysis, including teaching modules and curriculum documents. The Provus evaluation model was applied through four stages: design, installation, process, and product. The findings reveal that although the school has generally implemented the learning process standards in accordance with ideal procedures, several discrepancies remain in lesson planning, instructional implementation, and assessment practices. Learning activities tend to be less varied, the integration of instructional media and technology remains limited, and assessment planning has not fully adhered to standard procedures. Therefore, continuous professional development for teachers and improved implementation of student-centered learning are necessary. This study concludes that the Provus evaluation model is effective in identifying discrepancies and providing actionable recommendations to enhance the quality of elementary education.
