Abstract

Indonesian children's interest in reading is still relatively low. The development of students' reading interest in school cannot be separated from the role of the library as a place where students can read and learn. However, the role of the library at MTs Negeri 1 Prabumulih is not maximized. It is proven by the small daily visitor list. This study will seek to optimize the role of the library in increasing students' reading interest using qualitative descriptive research methods with observation methods. Optimization is carried out by promotion, socialization, and collaboration with Indonesian language teachers. The results showed that the reading interest of students at MTs Negeri 1 Prabumulih increased as seen from the library visitors becoming more crowded as evidenced by the visitor book list which showed an increase from 100-250 visitors to more than 300 visitors who come during breaks and there is a regular schedule of library visits for each seventh grade. Abstract

Education is needed by humans to develop. Humans who are qualified and able to compete can be created through good education. The education system is a strategy or method used in the teaching and learning process to achieve the goal so that students can actively develop their potential. The education system in Indonesia must be able to achieve the goal of national education, to educating the nation's children. A good education system can help achieve this goal. Every child is different, therefore the way of teaching is different. Various types of education and educational pillars are expected to help children achieve their educational goals. The purpose of writing this paper is to describe what types of education exist in Indonesia, and what are the pillars of UNESCO education. To achieve this goal, a literature study was carried out by reading various sources in the form of books and scientific articles. Based on the results of a literature study, the first results were obtained: the five types of education that can be chosen in Indonesia are general education, vocational education, special education, official education, and religious education. The five types can be selected based on the characteristics of the child which are certainly different. Second result: the pillars of education initiated by UNESCO are: (1) Learning to know, (2) Learning to do, (3) Learning to be or, and (4) Learning to live together. These four pillars are expected to be implemented in the Indonesian education system to achieve educational goals. Keywords: type, pillar, education

Abstract

In learning Indonesian Language and Literature, there are four skills that must be mastered by students, namely writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills. Reading skills as one of the language skills are seen as very important skills because they aim not only to improve reading skills themselves, but also to explore information as an effort for children to open up the world. Learning to read must use the right technique so that students' reading skills can improve, one of which is the cloze technique. Cloze technique is a technique of removing words contained in a reading text. The use of the cloze technique can be used to train students' reading abilities and skills. Through the cloze technique, students are stimulated to be able to fill in the missing words with the appropriate words. It is hoped that with this cloze technique, students are more provoked to read word for word. Indirectly, the practice of using the cloze technique will also raises curiosity and seriousness in student when they looking for words to complete missing sentences, so that they will read the text repeatedly and train children's grasping power in understanding a text. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai religius dan sosial yang terdapat dalam novel Janji karya Tere Liye beserta relevansinya dengan kehidupan siswa madrasah tsanawiyah (MTs). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis dan teknik analisis isi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik pustaka, baca, dan catat dengan objek penelitian novel Janji karya Tere Liye berjumlah 488 halaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya nilai religius yaitu (1) kehidupan penuh kemuliaan, (2) perasaan batin berkaitan dengan Tuhan, (3) perasaan berdosa, (4) hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri, (5) hubungan manusia dengan manusia lain. Kemudian nilai sosial yaitu (1) nilai kasih sayang terdiri dari pengabdian, tolong menolong, kekeluargaan, kesetiaan, kepedulian; (2) nilai tanggung jawab terdiri dari nilai rasa memiliki, disiplin, empati; (3) nilai keserasian hidup terdiri dari keadilan, toleransi, kerja sama, dan demokrasi. Nilai religius dan sosial dalam novel Janji tersebut juga memiliki relevansi dengan kehidupan siswa sehari-hari di Madrsah Tsanawiyah.
