Abstract

Aquaculture products in Indonesia have great potential in line with population growth. The demand for frozen tilapia fillets is increasing both in Indonesia and globally. Our objectives are to identify the current business process activities of a frozen tilapia fillet product, analyse problems and provide improvement strategies. In-depth interviews and observations were conducted with stakeholders. The business processes were analyzed using an Integration Definition for Function Modelling (IDEF0) to identify the activities and problems at the organizational level, the production plant level and the production department level. The results at the production plant level showed that there was a lack of strategic forecasting and inventory management in the planning activity. In the sourcing activity, the limited number of suppliers and inconsistent fish quality were the main problems. The lack of implementation of a good material handling and production system was a concern in the making activity. The problem in the delivering activity was the lack of product tracking which results in product returns due to defects. The researchers' recommendations, based on several literature reviews, are expected to improve the supply chain of frozen tilapia fillets in Yogyakarta and Central Java to increase its competitive advantage.

Abstract

A local brand forum outlet sells Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products with inventory management still carried out manually based on employee experience. The research objectives are to analyze problems related to the inventory system and provide recommendations for planning and controlling inventory systems at a Local Brand Forum (FBL) outlet. Primary data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The method used is ABC analysis to obtain the product classification. The results showed that 16 items (19.05%) are included in class A, with a total sales value of 69.55% of the total value for money. Class B has 25 product items (29.76%) with a total sales value of 20.29% of the total value for money. Products in class C are 43 items (51.19%) with a total sales value of 10.16% of the total value for money. As much as 43.75% of products in class A are nine basic commodities which are the basic needs of the Indonesian people, so they have a high priority in inventory control. These results are expected to provide planning and inventory control systems using the ABC class of products to avoid shortages and overstock inventory.

Abstract

Pekalongan City, which has more than 100 tempeh producers, is in Kuripan Kertoharjo Village, making this village known as "Tempeh Village" or “Kampung Tempe”. Thus, there is a lot of potential that can be developed in this sub-district. The large number of tempeh producers in Pekalongan City shows that this is the main source of income. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the characteristics of tempeh producers, the problems they face, and their needs. This research aims to identify the characteristics of tempeh producers in Kuripan Kertoharjo Village, including age, income, production capacity, length of time the business has been running, etc. Apart from that, this research also aims to find out the problems faced by tempeh producers, as well as the needs of tempeh producers so they can develop their businesses. Data collection was carried out through FGD interviews and questionnaires with 30 tempeh producers. Through this research, we can find out what aspects are obstacles for tempeh producers in running their business and can be used as a reference for Local Government Services regarding what can be done to develop Tempeh Village. Finally, in this research, we can find out the characteristics of tempeh producers in Tempeh Village, Pekalongan City which include age, business background, length of time the business has been running, daily soybean needs, marketing methods, and involvement in the community. Apart from that, we also know that the needs of tempeh producers are grouped into four aspects, namely training needs, groups or associations, activities in groups or associations, and development needs. Abstract

AbstractGlobalization brought new opportunities to logistics providers worldwide, especially in the Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, and Turkey (MIST) countries. However, this attractive opportunity also came with high risk due to the complexity of the global supply chain. Third-party logistics providers need to be prepared to minimize the risks by utilizing risk management to ensure a smooth supply chain operation. This case was conducted with a major Indonesian third-party logistics (3PL) provider, utilizing the Supply Chain Risk Management Process (SCRMP) to control and monitor all risks that can arise in the company. The structure of the method can be divided into four phases: risk identification, risk measurement/risk assessment, risk evaluation, and risk mitigation/contingency plans. The purpose of this research is to validate how the SCRMP concept performs in challenging contexts such as the Indonesian 3PL industry. The study also bridged the theoretical-practical gap by helping practitioners gain valuable insights to manage risks in the company and provided appropriate risk mitigation. The results showed that there are seven unacceptable risks requiring risk mitigation and control. Risk mitigation strategies were then recommended, based on the risks that were categorized as the most critical and unacceptable. The recommendation is expected to reduce the risks that occur in the Indonesian cold chain. Keywords: risk management, supply chain risk management process, third-party logistics providers

Abstract

Traditional sugar factories face challenges in improving production efficiency to remain competitive and meet growing market demand. This research adopts an innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach to analyze material and energy flows in the sugar production process. This approach not only identifies inefficiencies but also offers data-driven solutions and modern technology for operational optimization. The research involved material and energy flow mapping using the mass and energy balance method, along with causal analysis to identify the root causes of inefficiencies at each stage of production, from preparation, milling, refining, to crystallization. The results showed a production yield of 6,63%, far below the company's target of 10%, with the main inefficiencies caused by low raw material quality, non-standard process temperature settings, and inadequate operator skills. STEM-based recommendations include integrating sensor technology for real-time monitoring, regular machine maintenance using predictive algorithms, creating digital guidelines for operators, and optimizing raw materials through agronomic data. Implementing this approach is expected to improve yield and production efficiency and support operational sustainability by reducing waste and emissions.

Abstract

Lestari Mulya (LM) Agro-Edutourism is one of the Agro-Edutourisms included in the Aerotropolis Area, which is a tourist area supporting Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo Regency. This Agro-Edutourism is a tourist destination designed for educational purposes for children who have received early childhood education and kindergarten students. The community services aim to support members of the Lestari Mulya Women Farmer Group as managers of the Agro-Edutourism to discover their potential, identify development alternatives and assist them to become a sustainable agroindustry. Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA), Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) methods were used by the Universitas Gadjah Mada community services team to gather the information needed for further development planning. The results of the in-depth interviews showed that there is potential for the land and that some ideas can be developed to improve the quality of Agro-Edutourism products. The Lestari Mulya Women Farmers Group was able to use the FGD method to design a safer and more comfortable layout for the area. The community services team has developed a master plan proposal to apply for funding to improve infrastructure to support faster development of the Agro-Edutourism
