Abstract

With the growth of the customers and the expansion of the 4G LTE network in the area of Padang City, a PCI (Physical cell identity) modulo interference spot has been detected. PCI modulo interference occurs when an area is covered by two or more cells, which have a strong signal, and these cells have the same PCI modulo value. Based on the measurement results by the driving test method, the network conditions were not optimal because the SINR percentage (Signal to Interference Noise Ratio) in the good category was still low, at 9.47%, and the download throughput in the good category was 18.94%. This indicated that the interference in the area was quite high. Thus, it was necessary to do optimization action. The optimization action was taken by rotating the PCI on the site by considering the modulo value of each site so that the PCI with the same modulo did not merely lead to one location. Besides, action was taken to change the azimuth direction of cells that were too dominant. Based on the optimization process that has been carried out and the driving test activities that have been carried out again, the performance in the existing conditions has increased. The SINR percentage in the good category increased by 10%, so it became 19.47%, and the download throughput in the good category increased by 44.74% and became 63.68%.

Abstract

Much attention has been paid to large data technologies in the past few years mainly due to its capability to impact business analytics and data mining practices, as well as the possibility of influencing an ambit of a highly effective decision-making tools. With the current increase in the number of modern applications (including social media and other web-based and healthcare applications) which generates high data in different forms and volume, the processing of such huge data volume is becoming a challenge with the conventional data processing tools. This has resulted in the emergence of big data analytics which also comes with many challenges. This paper introduced the use of principal components analysis (PCA) for data size reduction, followed by SVM parallelization. The proposed scheme in this study was executed on the Spark platform and the experimental findings revealed the capability of the proposed scheme to reduce the classifiers’ classification time without much influence on the classification accuracy of the classifier.

Abstract

During the current pandemic, smartphones have become a means of learning for all students in Indonesia, including high school students. Students use smartphones to send assignments, learn via video calls, and conduct online exams. The prolonged use of smartphones, from the beginning of learning hours in the morning to study hours in the evening, has a terrible impact on the ear health of high school students in Padang. Excessive smartphone use caused a decrease in the student's hearing function. Therefore, this study aims to group the audiometry results of high school students in Padang who have a hearing loss function. The audiogram result is only performed as the result of a frequency test of the subject's hearing in both the left and right ear. Conventionally, an otolaryngologist concluded the final decision of hearing loss ability. This research proposed an automatic classification of audiometry results using machine learning methods. The K-Medoids clustering was selected to classify the audiometry data in this research. Of 210 audiometry data, 91 data is confirmed by an otolaryngologist as valid data. By using the K-Medoids clustering, 93 data is classified into Normal hearing, Mild Hearing loss, and Moderate Hearing loss. The proposed model successfully grouped the audiometry data into three categories. The confusion matrix is applied to measure the model performance, which has 28,3% accuracy, 64,3% precision, and 21,4% recall.

Abstract

The fourth-year students of Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) Software Engineering Technology Department of Information Technology (IT) Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP) are required to work on the Final Project Proposal to the Coordinator, to deliver to the expertise group team to assess the eligibility of the topic. The expertise teams consist of the same skill family. The assessment criteria include originality, novelty, target and topic contribution, methodology, and similarity. Therefore, a system to support group decisions is highly needed to get eligibility for the topic. In a pandemic like today, indoor gatherings are severely restricted. The work from home policy also limits the movement of the team to gather together so that the expert team who would judge cannot conduct a meeting to determine the feasibility of the final project topic optimally. The existence of a subjective assessment of a particular topic requires discussion from the team. The simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method was used to rank the final project proposal, and BORDA method was used to Accumulate the assessment score of the expert team. The research revealed the recommendation on students’ final topics. Testing is done by testing the sensitivity of the criteria used in a decision maker's preference. The final result of this research is a recommendation of a final project that is feasible to be implemented by students and recommendation for sensitive assessment criteria. From the ten topics of the final project that were assessed, seven topics could be accepted. The sensitivity test results showed that the weight with criterion 1 and criterion 4 significantly affect the assessment results.

Abstract

Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology is an unmodulated wireless digital communication system that uses an extremely short duration pulse to transmit information bit. Because of this pulse, the UWB system needs a very wide bandwidth. Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has regulated the 3.1 – 10.6 GHz frequency spectrum for UWB. Since FCC released this frequency, many research in telecommunication have been done on UWB systems. One of them is a development of an Antenna that is suitable for UWB devices. UWB antenna characteristics require FCC band, omnidirectional radiation pattern, and compact size. In order to meet these needs, an antenna with a simple structure in the form of a monopole patch antenna with a similar patch size and ground width has been designed. The antenna is built on an FR4 – epoxy substrate material, with 4.4 dielectric constant and 1.6 mm thickness. The antenna feeding structure consists of two 100 Ω and 50 Ω lines with a wideband impedance matching scheme using tapered side and tapered transformers. The antenna design and optimization processes are conducted using electromagnetic simulation software, and measurements are carried out in an anechoic chamber. Simulation and measurement results show good agreement, and the antenna can work at frequencies 3.5 - 11.3 GHz with a gain of 1.5 – 3.25 dBi and stable omnidirectional radiation patterns. The antenna has dimensions of 27 × 8 × 1.6 mm, which are smaller than the antenna reported in the last research and suitable to be applied on various UWB devices.

Abstract

Intelligence Eye is an Android based mobile application developed to help blind and visually impaired users to detect light and objects. Intelligence Eye used Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks (R-CNN) to recognize objects in the object recognition module and a vibration feedback is provided according to the light value in the light detection module. A voice guidance is provided in the application to guide the users and announce the result of the object recognition. TensorFlow Lite is used to train the neural network model for object recognition in conjunction with extensible markup language (XML) and Java in Android Studio for the programming language. For future works, improvements can be made to enhance the functionality of the Intelligence Eye application by increasing the object detection capacity in the object recognition module, add menu settings for vibration intensity in light detection module and support multiple languages for the voice guidance.
