Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia in adolescents still be a problem. If it untreated, it will continue into adulthood and contribute greatly to maternal mortality, premature birth, and low birth weight babies. The aim of this studi was to determine the risk factors on the incidence of adolescent girls iron deficiency anemia in urban and rural areas Banyumas. This study conducted with cross sectional approach to 120 sample of adolescent girls who study at the high school. Data knowledge of nutrition and body image obtained through questionnaires, consumption obtained through food recall, Hemoglobin levels with test strips, and analysis by chi square test and multiple logistic regression. The samples of the study, 70 came from urban and 50 were from rural, 92.9% of urban adolescent girls and 76% of adolescent girls in rural sample anemic. Bivariate analysis showed that factors associated with the incidence of iron deficiency anemia in adolescent girls in urban were protein intake and iron intake. Multivariate showed that the most factor on the incidence of iron deficiency anemia in urban was protein intake. We expected Dinas Kesehatan to have a collaboration with the Dinas Pendidikan to solve the problem of adolescent anemia

Abstract

The study was aimed to analyze the effect of nutritional education on attitude changes and increased of macronutrients and water intake in scout teenagers. The study was quasi-experimental with pre- and post-test control group design. The treatment group was given nutritional education four times during one month. Pre-test was conducted a week before intervention and post-test was conducted a week after intervention. Subjects were all members of Saka Bhayangkara and Saka Wira Kartika Scout. The result showed that nutritional education was significant improved median value of attitude score and increased (p 0,05). macronutrients intake in treatment group. The average of macronutrients intake in treatment group, before and after intervention were 1137,8±178,7 Kcal and 1490,4± 206,6 Kcal/day for energy; 40,4 ± 9,8 g/day and 60,8 ± 9,3g/day for protein; 38,5 ± 12,6 g/day and 59,3 ± 9,4 g/day for fat; 155,6 ± 29,5 g/day and 177,6 ± 33,5 g/day for carbohydrates; 782,4±347,7 mL and 834,6±383,2 mL for water. Nutritional education improved nutrition attitudes and increased macro-nutrient intake among scout.

Abstract

Early childhood represents the stage of golden period during children development. Nutritional status monitoring at this period is very important to prevent growth disorders. The monitoring process is conducted monthly through posyandu. Posyandu cadres are the spearhead of successful nutritional status monitoring for children under five years old, therefore increasing cadres’ capability is necessary. This activity aims to improve posyandu cadres’ capability including knowledge and skills for nutritional status monitoring of children under five years old. This activities were carried out at Posyandu Mawar VI Karangsalam Kidul, Kedungbanteng Sub-District, Banyumas District, Central Java. This series of activities are conducted for four months, from May to August, 2017. The activity method was training with simulation with seven cadres participated in this activity. The evaluation resulted in increase of knowledge and skill level of cadre in nutritional status monitoring. The increase of knowledge scoring before and after training equal to 1.88 points. The increase of skill showed by almost every measurements are conducted properly, such as weighing standing toddler, weighing baby weight less than two years old, height measurement of toddler, and plotting KMS. Whereas, cadres are still having difficulties in measuring the length of the baby. It can be concluded that there is an increase in knowledge and skills of posyandu cadres in nutritional status monitoring of children after training.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is a condition of female adolescent experiencing a lack of energy and protein intakes for a long period. Nowadays social media is a popular media among adolescents. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of social media in improving nutrition knowledge, energy and protein intakes of CED’s adolescent girls in rural and urban areas. A quasi experimental research design with one group pre-test post-test was applied, subject was taken with a purposive technique. A total of 56 CED teenage girls from SMAN 1 Baturraden represented rural group and 54 CED teenage girls from SMAN 5 Purwokerto represented urban group were taken. Knowledge was measured using a knowledge questionnaire, data on energy and protein intakes were collected  using 2x24 hour Food Recall. Statistical analysis used were dependent T-test, Wilcoxon, Independent T-test, and Mann-Whitney. The average change in nutritional knowledge scores was 2.71 in rural area, and 2.48 in urban area. Average changes in energy intake in rural area was  510.66 kcal, and urban area was 592.43 kcal. Average changes in protein intake in rural area was 24.78 g, and urban area was 20.78 g. There was a difference before and after nutrition education on nutrition knowledge, energy intake, protein intake in rural areas (p = 0.000) and urban areas (p = 0.000). There was no difference in increasing nutritional knowledge (p = 0.899), energy intake (p = 0.426), protein intake (p = 0.663) between rural and urban areas. There were differences in nutrition knowledge, energy and protein intakes, before and after social media-based nutrition education given in rural and urban areas. However, the amount of improvement in the score of nutritional knowledge and energy-protein intakes, did not differ between rural and urban areas.

Abstract

ABSTRAKLatar belakang: anemia merupakan masalah gizi utama yang ditemukan pada remaja putri. Jejak prevalensinya semakin meningkat. Anemia pada remaja putri yang tidak tertangani akan berlanjut hingga masa kehamilan dan berakibat pada tingginya ibu hamil anemia. Suplementasi tablet besi cukup efektif dalam penanganan masalah anemia namun kurangnya pengetahuan terhadap anemia menurunkan tingkat kepatuhan konsumsi tablet besi sehingga pengetahuan dan sikap remaja memegang peranan penting dalam keberhasilan menurunkan prevalensi anemia.Tujuan: menganalisis efektifitas edukasi gizi terhadap kadar hemoglobin dan skor pengetahuan dalam upaya penanganan anemia gizi remaja putri.Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain True experimental dengan randomized pretest-posttest control group  design. Intervensi menggunakan edukasi gizi di laksanakan sebanyak enam kali selama 1,5 bulan dengan satu kali pertemuan setiap minggu. Jumlah subjek sebanyak 70 orang terdiri dari 31 orang kelompok perlakuan dan 39 orang kelompok kontrol. Uji T berpasangan digunakan untuk menganalisis perbedaan kadar hemoglobin dan skor pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah pemberian edukasi gizi.Hasil : Hasil analisis statistik menunjukan terdapat perbedaan rerata kadar hemoglobin pada kelompok perlakuan antara sebelum dan sesudah edukasi gizi dari 12.17 g/dL meningkat menjadi 12.68 g/dL (p= 0,001). Skor pengetahuan subjek meningkat dari 16.03±2.30 menjadi 20.09±2.21 (p= 0,000).Kesimpulan: Pemberian edukasi gizi efektif meningkatkan kadar hemoglobin dan skor pengetahuan remaja putri. KATA KUNCI: Remaja putri; kadar hemoglobin; skor pengetahuan; pendidikan gizi  ABSTRACTBackground: Anemia is a major nutritional problem found in adolescent girls. Iron supplementation is quite effective in handling anemia problem but lack of knowledge to anemia decrease compliance level of iron tablet consumption so that knowledge and attitude of adolescent plays an important role in the success of decreasing prevalence of anemia.Objectives: to analyze the effectiveness of nutritional education on hemoglobin level and knowledge score in the effort of anemia treatment in adolescent girls.Methods: This research used true experimental with randomized pretest-posttest control group  design. Intervention using nutritional education was conducted in six sessions for 1.5 months once every week. Total participants of this study were 70 people consisted of 31 treatment groups and 39 controls. Paired T test is used to analyze the difference of hemoglobin level and score of knowledge before and after nutrition education.Results:The statistical test showed that there was a difference of mean hemoglobin level in treatment group between before and after nutrient education from 12.17 g / dL increased to 12.68 g / dL (p = 0,001). The subject knowledge score increased from 16.03 ± 2.30 to 20.09 ± 2.21 (p = 0,000). Abstract

Plantains are high in potassium and glucose, while yellow watermelons are high in citrulline, antioxidants and fluids. The combination juice of plantain and yellow watermelon provides glucose and fluids, suppresses lactic acid and muscle inflammation, so will improve endurance during aerobic exercise. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of combining juices of yellow watermelon plantains on aerobic swimming endurance in Sprague-Dawley rats. The design of this study was true experimental and used a post-test only with a controlled group. The 21 male Sprague Dawley rats, were divided into three groups, the control (K), which were given one dose of juice (P1) and two doses (P2). Rats were observed for the length of swimming. One-Way Anova and Post-Hoc LSD were used to analyze the data. The results of this study found that on average P2 with a double dose of juice had a longer swim. The P1 swim 390,57 seconds longer than control, while P2 swim 757,57 seconds longer than control, while P2 could swim 367 seconds longer than P1. There was a difference in swim length (p < 0,001) in each group after intervention with variation doses. The conclusion was that there was a difference in endurance in each group after receiving a combined juice with variation doses.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat korelasi aktifitas fisik dan asupan air terhadap persen lemak tubuh remaja putri. Metode yang digunakan adalah cross-sectional yang dilakukan di tiga SMA/MA/SMK di wilayah perdesaan Kecamatan Kedungbanteng, Kabupaten Banyumas. Jumlah responden 69 remaja putri dipilih secara acak. Aktifitas fisik diukur dengan kuesioner IPAQ, dan asupan air menggunakan metode Food record sedangkan persen lemak tubuh menggunakan Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Persen lemak tubuh kategori kurang 42,0%, normal 39,1%, lebih 18,8%. Rata-rata aktifitas fisik 2592,38±2120,74 MET-menit/minggu dan asupan air 879,80±304,53 ml. Terdapat korelasi antara asupan air dengan persen lemak tubuh sedangkan aktifitas fisik tidak berkorelasi. Konsumsi air terbukti berkorelasi dengan persen lemak tubuh. Korelasi bersifat negatif sehingga setiap kenaikan konsumsi air dapat menurunkan persen lemak tubuh. Aktifitas fisik tidak berkorelasi dengan persen lemak tubuh. Abstract

Background: Toddlers are a group that is vulnerable to experiencing nutritional problems. The nutritional status of toddlers is very dependent on the role of caregivers, especially mothers. Business women have less time together with toddlers so that it will have an impact on mothers' attention to the growth and development of toddlers, child feeding patterns, food diversity, and macro-nutrient intake of toddlers. Research in Padang states that business women have a 1,3 times risk of experiencing malnutrition in children. Purpose: Know the differences in child feeding patterns, food diversity, and macro nutrient intake in toddlers from business women and housewife. Method: The design of this study was an observational analytic with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted on medium socioeconomic housing in Banyumas Regency. The sample are toddlers aged 12-59 months as many as 78 toddlers, taken using total sampling techniques. Data were statistically tested using independent T tests. Results: The results of study showed no differences in child feeding patterns (p = 0.605), food diversity (p = 0.767), energy intake (p = 0.483), protein intake (p = 0.806), fat intake (p = 0.787) and carbohydrate intake (p = 0.337) in toddlers from business women and housewife. Conclusions: There were no differences in child feeding patterns, food diversity, and macro nutrient intake in toddlers from business women and housewife.

Abstract

Excellent physical fitness and optimal nutritional status are conditions for an athlete to perform optimally. Proper diet combined with nutrition education program are supposed to support the achievements of athletes in addition to the scheduled training program. This study aimed to identify the effect of diet combined with nutrition education on the nutritional status and physical fitness football athletes. The study was designed with the pre-post test control group design. The population was the students of the football academy in Semarang, 14-18 years old. There were 60 subjects selected by purposive technic sampling and divided into two (2) groups: dietary pattern arranged group and control group. Diet was given for 3 weeks to the treatment group, both groups got nutrition education. The nutritional status was measured with body mass index (BMI), lean body mass (Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (BIA)), hemoglobin (Hb) (cyanmethemoglobin). Physical fitness was analyzed using the methods of Asian Committee on the Standardization of Physical Fitness Test (ACSPFT). Data of the study was analized with independent t-test, paired t-test, Mann Whitney, Wilcoxon and General Linera Model. There was an increased IMT in the treatment group (0.26 kg/m2) higher than the control group (0.02 kg/m2) p = 0.0001, lean body mass increased in the treatment groups(1.57%), while in the control group it decreased (0.12%) p = 0.0001, score of ACSPFT in treatment groups (116.27) was higher than in the control group (3.47) before and after controlled for resting pulse rate p = 0.0001. Nutritional status and physical fitness have improved by diet combined with nutrition education in football athletes. ABSTRAK Syarat yang penting dipenuhi atlet untuk berprestasi adalah kesegaran jasmani dan status gizi optimal. Pengaturan diit atlet disertai pendidikan gizi dapat dijadikan program penunjang agar atlet berprestasi. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh pengaturan diit atlet disertai pendidikan gizi terhadap status gizi dan kesegaran jasmani atlet sepak bola. Penelitian berdesain pre-post test control group dengan 60 subjek dipilih secara purposif dan dibagi 2 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan. Tempat penelitian adalah salah satu akademi sepak bola di Kabupaten Semarang dengan kelompok usia 14-18 tahun. Kelompok perlakuan diberikan pengaturan diit atlet sesuai kebutuhan berdasarkan usia dan aktivitas selama 3 minggu. Pendidikan gizi diberikan kepada semua kelompok. Penilaian status gizi menggunakan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT), komposisi lean body mass (Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (BIA), dan kadar hemoglobin (cyanmethemoglobin). Penilaian kesegaran jasmani menggunakan metode Asian Committee on the Standarduzation of Physical Fitness Test (ACSPFT). Data dianalisis menggunakan independent t-test, paired t-test, Mann Whitney, Wilcoxon dan General Linear Model. IMT kelompok perlakuan (0,26±0,42kg/m2) meningkat lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (0,02±0,38kg/m2) dengan nilai p=0,0001. Kelompok perlakuan mengalami peningkatan lean body mass (1,57±1,34%), sebaliknya kelompok kontrol menurun  (0,12±0,57%) (p=0,0001). Skor ACSPFT kelompok perlakuan (116,27±17,31) meningkat lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (3,47±23,27) sebelum maupun setelah dikontrol denyut nadi istirahat (p=0,0001). Pengaturan diit atlet disertai pendidikan gizi dapat meningkatkan status gizi dan kesegaran jasmani atlet sepak bola.
