Abstract

Manusia selalu menggunakan perhitungan serta angka pada kehidupan sehari-hari. Matematika juga artinya bidang pendidikan yang sangat krusial bagi kehidupan manusia. Dalam pendidikan matematika, banyak faktor yang harus dipertimbangkan, termasuk kemampuan, keinginan, kesiapan guru, dan kesiapan siswa, tetapi yang paling penting adalah jenis kelamin siswa (gender). Gender merupakan aspek psikososial yang menentukan cara seseorang bertindak dan berperilaku agar dapat diterima di lingkungan sosialnya. Perbedaan gender dapat mempengaruhi cara seseorang berpikir dan menyelesaikan masalah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui strategi verbal dan spasial yang digunakan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah pembelajaran matematika. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa dan siswi SMP secara acak untuk setiap jenjang kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan melakukan observasi terhadap siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah pemberian tes. Aspek yang diukur pada tes mengikuti indikator strategi verbal dan spasial. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu dengan melakukan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase siswa perempuan memiliki kecenderungan strategi verbal sebanyak 50% dan siswa laki-laki memiliki kecenderungan mempunyai kemampuan visual denagn persentase 50%. Pada penelitian ini diketahui jika siswa laki-laki lebih mudah mencari jarak tempuh dalam soal secara grafis daripada deskripsi. Sedangkan siswa perempuan lebih dominan menyelesaikan permasalah dari konsep ruang dengan menggunakan strategi verbal yaitu dengan mendeskripsikan jawaban. Namun baik siswa dan siswi dalam penelitian ini masih kurang mampu dalam menyelesaikan masalah dalam bentuk matematis.

Abstract

The urgency of this research is based on the phenomenon of the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM), which has so far only involved students and teachers in schools. To date, there has been no national assessment specifically designed for prospective mathematics teachers, even though numeracy literacy is an essential competency for teacher candidates. Therefore, this study aims to describe the strategies for strengthening numeracy literacy among prospective mathematics teachers and to evaluate their implementation outcomes. This study employed a descriptive method with a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative analysis was conducted using literacy and numeracy test results to measure differences between first-year and third-year students, while qualitative analysis was based on interviews with lecturers to explore the strategies previously implemented to strengthen numeracy literacy. The results revealed that lecturers implemented several strategies, including independent project assignments, reading tasks followed by presentations, and exercises to complete incomplete information on lecture topics. Statistical tests indicated a significant difference between the literacy and numeracy skills of first-year and third-year students. The interview findings suggested that this difference was influenced by the higher mastery of basic mathematical concepts and a better understanding of mathematical reasoning among third-year students. This study contributes to the field of mathematics education by offering alternative strategies to enhance numeracy literacy among prospective mathematics teachers as a foundation for developing literacy- and numeracy-based university courses.

Abstract

Masalah yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini, peserta didik mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) terkait materi lingkaran, ini terjadi karena rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik tergolong rendah sampai sedang. Salah satu alternatif meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis adalah menerapkan model pembelajaran Group Investigation. Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam memahami materi lingkaran melalui metode pembelajaran Group Investigation. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap yaitu, tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi dan lembar tes. Bahan ajar adalah Unit Kegiatan Belajar Mandiri (UKBM) dengan materi lingkaran. Pada siklus pertama kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik sebesar 48,90% dengan kriteria sedang, pada sikus kedua kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik meningkat menjadi 74,34% dengan kriteria tinggi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode pembelajaran Group Investigation dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik sebesar 25,44%.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen teachers’ competencies in designing and implementing contextual STEAM learning that is aligned with local school conditions. The program was conducted at the Musa-Asia Integrated School (SEPAMA), Cambodia, involving junior high school teachers and school leaders. The implementation methods included a baseline needs analysis, workshop-based training, instructional design mentoring, the implementation of simple classroom projects, and pre-test and post-test evaluations of teacher competency. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively by comparing the mean pre-test and post-test scores and calculating the gain. The findings indicate an improvement in teacher competency across all measured dimensions, particularly in interdisciplinary integration and project-based learning. The average score for STEAM understanding increased from 2.82 to 3.27, representing a 15.96% improvement, while the project-based learning score increased from 2.45 to 3.09, representing a 26.12% improvement. Teachers also began to perceive STEAM learning as a practical and feasible approach that could be implemented by utilizing the school environment and students’ daily activities. The classroom project implementation demonstrated increased student engagement, although not all teachers applied the approach consistently due to time constraints and the need for further adaptation. Field findings suggest that the simplified contextual STEAM approach is relevant to local school settings and effective in enhancing teacher readiness. Overall, this activity had a positive impact on improving teacher capacity and learning quality, with strong potential for sustainability through continuous mentoring and institutional support from partner schools.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a role in learning to create fast, practical and interesting learning designs. However, not all educators are able to use and organize the layout of the learning design created by AI. The problems of partners, namely vocational high school teachers, conveyed through FGDs include 1) the need for cooperation with universities to improve the quality of learning in vocational high schools, 2) AI has not been used wisely by students, and 3) teachers have difficulty in designing interesting learning designs and utilizing technology. Based on the problems that occur in schools, the focus of the community service program is the use of AI to design learning. The implementation method as well as the solution offered is by providing teacher training to design learning designs and assisting teachers in using AI. The stages of implementation include FGDs with the school regarding the scheduling and target achievements of each program, training, mentoring and evaluation. Community service activities involved 17 teachers from various subjects. The results of the community service are that teachers are able to utilize AI in compiling learning designs that include teaching modules, LKPD, quizzes and assessment rubrics. The AI ​​applications used include ChatGPT, MagicSchoolAI, and Gemini. Teachers said that the use of AI makes teachers' administrative work easier and faster. In addition, students appear more interested in using learning media created using AI.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of instruction using multiple representations on student learning outcomes and to investigate patterns related to learning styles. This research is motivated by the limited number of studies that combine various types of mathematical representation with the use of technology, especially the use of Python as an exploratory and contextual learning tool. A quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was applied in this study, which involved 72 students. Data were collected through pretest and posttest scores, learning style categorization, and information on dominant representations, which were subsequently analyzed using R-Studio. The results indicate a significant improvement in student academic performance following the implementation of instruction based on diverse representations. The mean score increased from 64.79 in the pre-test to 80.37 in the post-test (mean difference = 15.58), with a paired t-test showing significance (p < 0.001). Additionally, an ANOVA analysis revealed no significant differences in learning outcomes based on learning styles. Network analysis suggests that students utilize various types of representations in a flexible manner, without being confined to a specific learning style. Visual representations appeared to be more dominant, but all learning styles were interrelated with various forms of representation. Overall, the results of this study indicate that multiple-representation-based instruction is effective in improving learning outcomes and supporting a more flexible learning process. This approach creates a more adaptive learning environment compared to methods that rely solely on learning style preferences.
