Abstract

Kingdom Plantae is a topic taught in Grade Tenth in Indonesia high school. The previous researchers have found misconceptions and difficulties in understanding the classification and the nomenclature system of Kingdom Plantae. Understanding basic concepts of Kingdom Plantae is important to study the more complex system of Plantae. This research was aimed to analyze the conceptual understanding of high school students on Plantae. The participants were 372 eleven graders who had studied Kingdom Plantae and selected randomly from eleven high schools in Surakarta, Indonesia. The diagnostic test four-tier consisting of 20 items. The instrument was to identify conceptual understanding. The instrument showed result on validity (mean = 1.00 and SD = 0.06) and reliability (0.46). The test showed that 10.5% students grouped as understand, and the rest varied as to False Negative (4.4%), False Positive (10.1%), Lack of Knowledge (45.6%), and Misconception (29.4%). Based on the results of the test, the students have misconceptions about monocots and dicots, the morphology of Anacardium occidentale, Musa sp., and Solanum tuberosum, classification of Anacardium occidentale. It was recommended to do detail examination of the reasons of low achievement in conceptual understanding of students.

Abstract

Hepatoprotective activity of Morinda citrifolia L. fruits and Carica papaya L. leaves ethanolic extract have been investigated in antituberculosis-induced rats. Forty rats were divided into following eight groups: normal control group was treated with normal feed and water; negative control group was treated with isoniazid and rifampicin, positive control group was treated with isoniazid, rifampicin and Methicol®, and the last five groups were treated with isoniazid, rifampicin and combination of M. citrifolia L. fruits and C. papaya L. leaves extract on various doses. All groups were treated daily for 27 days. Serum levels of bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) as well as aspartate aminotransferase (AST) were determined on day -0, 14, 21 and 28 to monitor the liver function. All rats were sacrified on day-28 for liver histology observation. Combination of M. citrifolia extract 20 mg/200 g bw and C. papaya extract 120 mg/200 g bw significantly decreased the serum level of ALT, AST as well as bilirubin. The histology study showed that this combination could prevent the liver damaged based on the lower percentage of necrosis (27.83%), as compared to that of negative control (47.47%).

Abstract

Evaluasi merupakan kegiatan, untuk melihat sejauh mana keberhasilan pembelajaran telah dilaksanakan. Kegiatan evaluasi memerlukan alat sebagai pengumpul data yang disebut instrumen. Sebuah instrumen dikatakan baik apabila memenuhi beberapa kriteria. Salah satunyadengan melakukan analisis butir soal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran, dan daya pembeda soal pada  insrumen diagnostic materi virus. Responden penelitian berjumlah 346 siswa kelas X, XI, dan XII SMA Negeri dan Swasta di Kota Magelang. Instrumen yang diberikan berupa Assessment Diagnostic pada materi virus, yang terdiri dari soal Kolom Bukti Fakta (KBF), essay, dan Structure Communication Grid (SCG). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif untuk mengetahui kualitas instrumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase validitas soal KBF dan SCG 63,2% , soal essay 100%, semua soal reliabel, tingkat kesukaran soal mudah KBF dan SCG 38,6%, soal sedang 37,1%, dan 24,3% soal sukar. Sedangkan kesukaran soal essay 20% pada kategori mudah dan 80% pada kategori sedang. Daya pembeda soal  KBF dan SCG sebesar 62,2% kategori jelek, 31,5% kategori cukup, 6,3% kategori baik. Daya pembeda soal essay 60% soal pada kategori cukup dan 40% soal kategori baik. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, dilakukan perbaikan butir soal. Instrumen pada materi virus yang sedang dikembangkan, merupakan yang pertama di Indonesia.Quality analysis of item in the Assessment Diagnostic instrumen to detect misconceptions in high school students on virus material. An instrumenis good, if it meets several criteria. One of them is by analyzing questions item. This study was aimed to determine the validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and differentiation of problems in the diagnostic instrumens of virus material. Respondents in this study are 346 students of class X, XI, XII of public and private High Schools in Magelang City. The instrumen provided is in the form of a Diagnostic Assessmenton virus material, which consists of the Facts Proof Column (KBF), essay and Structure Communication Grid (SCG). This research is a quantitative studywhich determine the quality of the instrumen. The results showed the percentageof the validity of KBF and SCG questions was 63,2%, essay questionswere 100%, all questions are reliable, the level of difficulty of easy questions of KBF and SCG is 38,6%, moderate questions are 37,1%, and 24,3% are difficult questions. While the difficulty of the essay is 20% in the easy category and 80% in the medium category.The differentiation of the KBF and SCG questions is 62,2% in the bad category, 31,5% in the sufficient category, 6,3% in the good category. The differentiation of essay questions 60% in adequate category and 40% in good categories. Based on the analysis, further improvements were made to the items. Instrumens in the virus material which are being developed are the first in Indonesia.

Abstract

Kegiatan pelatihan Pembuatan Eco-Enzyme sebagai Upaya Pengelolaan Sampah Organik Rumah Tangga ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat, khususnya para ibu PKK, Desa Girirejo mengenai konsep eco-enzyme beserta manfaatnya bagi lingkungan. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui penyampaian materi dilanjutkan dengan praktik secara langsung oleh tim KKN diikuti oleh peserta. Kegiatan juga berlangsung dengan baik di Balai Desa Girirejo. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat yang semakin meningkat dalam memanfaatkan limbah organik menjadi bahan multifungsi, yaitu eco-enzyme. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan antusiasme peserta yang aktif dan partisipatif serta keterampilan mereka yang baik dalam proses praktik pembuatan eco-enzyme. Melalui kegiatan ini, masyarakat menjadi paham mengenai pengelolaan sampah organik yang baik serta membuka peluang pemanfaatannya melalui eco-enzyme yang bernilai ekonomi dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Waste bank is a system that operates in the field of waste management. Waste banks are a business model that was established in Indonesia in 2008. Waste banks can be used to accommodate and educate the public regarding waste management. Waste bank systems and mechanisms need to be improved or modified to increase waste acceptance from the community. Waste is a problem in almost all regions in Indonesia. Waste bank management can produce derivative products. Waste bank derivative products that have been successfully produced are organic fertilizer and paving blocks mixed with plastic. Managing waste into derivative products has the potential to create employment opportunities and empower communities

Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Kemuning, Kecamatan Ngargoyoso, Kabupaten Karanganyar, yang terletak di lereng barat Gunung Lawu dan memiliki iklim tropis serta kondisi alam yang terjaga. Desa Kemuning dikenal dengan usaha budidaya ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus) yang masih kurang menjanjikan, terutama di Dusun Tanen. Program pengembangan budidaya ikan nila dilakukan oleh tim dari mahasiswa Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) dengan menggunakan teknologi monosex. Teknologi monosex bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bibit ikan jantan berkualitas tinggi melalui proses pemijahan yang dibantu oleh penggunaan hormon untuk mengubah jenis kelamin ikan. Program melibatkan pembinaan teknis kepada petani oleh mahasiswa bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mereka dalam budidaya ikan. Hasil dari program menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas bibit ikan nila yang dihasilkan, yang berdampak positif pada kesejahteraan masyarakat. Pelaksanaan program monosex menghadapi beberapa tantangan, termasuk kurangnya dukungan teknologi dari instansi terkait dan kondisi lingkungan yang kurang ideal, seperti suhu air yang terlalu dingin. Tindak lanjut yang direncanakan berupa pembuatan alat pengatur suhu air untuk kolam pemijahan guna meningkatkan keberhasilan pelaksanaan program di masa mendatang.
