Abstract

Introductions: Less critical nurses in Indonesia may happen due to the lack of contribution of the nursing institutions in enhancing the critical thinking skill. The PSGW is one of clinical teaching methods that facilitates students to criticize the current literatures. This study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of the PSGW on students’ critical appraisal skill (CAS) improvement during the medical surgical nursing clinical placement. Methods: This quasy-experimental study used pre-posttest control group design. The subjects were students who are currently in the professional practice stage of medical surgical nursing area. They were randomly assigned into two groups: 30 subjects in intervention group who conducted PSGW and 30 subjects in control group who conducted standard method of journal presentation. CAS questionnaires developed by Oxford University had been used to measure students’ CAS in criticizing the journal. The data was analyzed using Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, paired  t-test, and independent t-test with level of significance at 0.05.Results: The intervention group experienced a significant increase in CAS score (p=0.0001) after performing the PSGW, while the control group experienced an insignificant decrease (p=0.596) after performing the standard method of journal reading. When comparing the posttest CAS of both groups, the result showed that there were significant differences in the posttest CAS scores (p=0.0001) with large effect size (r=0.63).Conclusions: The PSGW is an effective learning method for clinical teaching. Further study needs to be performed to investigate the effectiveness of PSGW on the academic learning process.

Abstract

Knowledge about vaccines and follow-up events after COVID-19 immunization is essential for the public to know. This reduces anxiety due to incorrect reporting. The results of interviews with the Covid-19 Surveillance and Korim (Immunization Coordinator) at Batua Health Center stated that the coverage of the 2nd vaccination was still lacking, there were still residents who were more than six months apart from the first and second vaccines, there were still residents who did not want to vaccinate. 2nd for fear of side effects from vaccines. Healthcare assistants are extensions of health workers who live in the community in the working area of the Health Center. The role of health care assistant. The role of cadres motivates residents to carry out vaccines and find out the reaction of AEFI after the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as report to the nearest health service center if there is an AEFI reaction in its citizens. The service was carried out at Batua Health Center with the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. Knowledge of health care assistants has increased after training; this is evidenced by the results of the pre-post test, which shows ability in the excellent category has increased by 30%, while the less type has decreased by 20%. The development of healthcare assistants is significant to advance knowledge in identifying signs and symptoms of follow-up events after COVID-19 immunization and motivating residents to vaccinate to create herd immunity. Therefore, it is hoped that healthcare assistants can report follow-up events after the COVID-19 immunization to the Batua Health Center if residents have symptoms after the COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract

Acute kidney failure (AKI) is a spectrum of diseases characterized by changes in urine production and serum creatinine concentration. In recent years the concept of kidney injury and failure has evolved, replacing the term "acute kidney failure" (GGA) with the criteria of Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss of kidney function, and end-stage kidney disease, where healthcare workers must assist patients in self-management to improve their well-being and prolong life. One of the self-management is adherence to fluid restriction and diet which is very important to reduce the incidence of deterioration of the patient's condition, Cuterostomy (CU) is a rare form of urination diversion, but can be the simplest urine diversion option in high-risk elderly patients. Objective to determine the amount of urine output as a predictor of renal failure I post-radical surgery cystectomy and ureterocutaneous stomas. An intervention was carried out starting on the 2nd day after surgery and a sample of one patient with a diagnosis of acute kidney failure after radical cystectomy and ureteroduct stoma surgery who was temporarily undergoing treatment in the urology room of Lontara 4 Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital Makassar, the intervention provided was monitoring urine production, increasing urea, creatinine and GFR in postoperative patients with radical cystectomy and ureterocutaneous stoma for 6 days from from April 22 to April 27, 2024 by means of urine production in 24 hours which is accommodated in a stoma bag measured using a 2-liter urine measuring cup and the results of urine voleme in 24 hours are recorded on the integration sheet, urea and creatinine levels are observed every 2 days by taking blood samples and examined in the laboratory of Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital. After postoperative radical cystectomy and ureterocular stoma monitoring intervention, there was an increase in urine volume every day and did not have a significant impact on the improvement of urea, creatinine and GFR in acute renal failure. Conclusion: after the intervention, there was an improvement in urea, creatinine and GFR levels but it was not very meaningful for patients with acute kidney failure, namely radical cystectomy and ureterocant stoma which were shown by signs of improvement with an increase in urine volume every day.
