Abstract

Lingkungan mempunyai peran penting bagi manusia karena dapat menunjang kehidupan manusia baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Lingkungan harus dijaga dari kerusakan oleh semua pihak tanpa terkecuali. Pihak sekolah merupakan salah satu pihak yang berperan penting dalam menanamkan karakter peduli lingkungan pada siswa. SMP N 2 Gatak menanamkan karakter peduli lingkungan melalui berbagai kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penanaman karakter peduli lingkungan pada siswa dan persiapan SMP N 2 Gatak menuju sekolah Adiwiyata. Metode penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif dengan menggambarkan dan menjelaskan permasalahan dalam bentuk teks, yang dilaksanakan di SMP N 2 Gatak melalui kegiatan PLP I dalam waktu pelaksanaan selama 2 minggu. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi partisipatif yaitu mengumpulkan data-data dari pengamatan langsung dan wawancara kepada narasumber. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dengan adanya program Adiwiyata dapat meningkatkan karakter peduli lingkungan pada siswa SMP N 2 Gatak.

Abstract

Daily problems are often expressed in the form of math story problems. However, mathematics is often seen as scary because it is difficult to learn, causing errors in doing math story problems. The aims of this study is analyses the types of problem-solving errors in solving math story problems and analyses the factors that cause problem solving errors in solving math story problems. This research is a type of qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects in this study were elementary school students in grade 5 with the object of research being student errors in answering math story questions. Data collection techniques using question answer sheets and interviews. The data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman interactive data analysis techniques. The results showed that reading errors were 39%, comprehension errors were 81%, transformation errors were 88%, process skill errors as much as 90%, and writing errors in the final answer (encoding errors) as much as 90%. Cognitive factors that cause problem solving errors in math story problems are: memory weakness; the weakness of understanding; and weak analysis. The non-cognitive factors that cause problem-solving errors in math story problems are how students learn and how to teach teachers. Based on the results of the study, teachers need to improve students' abilities to reduce process skill errors and writing errors in the final answer.

Abstract

Thematic learning based on local wisdom, it is hoped that it can improve knowledge and learning outcomes and provide useful experiences for students. The purpose of this study is to analyses the planning, implementation and constraints of thematic learning based on local wisdom in the new normal period in elementary schools. The subjects of this study were classroom teachers and elementary school students. The method used is a qualitative method of phenomenology. This study uses interview, observation, and documentation guidelines. The data analysis technique used in this study consisted of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of study found that, before carrying out thematic learning based on local wisdom, the teacher carries out planning by preparing learning tools. Students learn directly from nature and to increase students' awareness of nature, so that students can maintain and preserve local wisdom and love local wisdom in their area. The obstacle for teachers in the process of implementing local wisdom-based thematic learning in elementary schools is that the time allocation for thematic learning is still lacking and there is no integration between local wisdom learning materials in the curriculum that has been made by the school.

Abstract

Learning during the pandemic hasn’t optimally, literacy has decreased so it is necessary to cultivate digital literacy. This study aims to analyse the cultivation of digital literacy and its supporting and inhibiting factors. This research includes qualitative research with a descriptive type. The subjects of the study were teachers, students and principals. Data collection techniques are interviews, observations, and documentation, instruments in the form of interview guidelines, observation sheets and documents. Test validity of the data using source triangulation techniques.  Research data analysis is interactive analysis. The results showed that the cultivation of digital literacy can be through activities: 1) digital-based learning, 2) introduction to use of laptops, 3) education on the wise use of cellphones. The cultivation of digital literacy is influenced by several supporting factors, namely: availability of infrastructure, commitment of school residents to increase digital field, the inhibiting factors are the competence of educators, students and parents are low in the digital literacy, there isn‘t internet at home, the focus of teachers in digital literacy is lacking due many tasks, lack of infrastructure. So the cultivation of digital literacy in thematic learning in elementary schools needs to be improved in terms of infrastructure, competence of educators and students.

Abstract

Entrepreneurial education needs to be instilled in children from an early age so that they are ready to face the challenges of the times. This research aims to describe: 1) the role of teachers in fostering entrepreneurial attitudes through scouting. 2) obstacles and solutions in fostering entrepreneurial attitudes through scouting This research uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. This research was conducted at one of the State Elementary Schools in Baturetno Wonogiri Regency, Central Java. The data collected is qualitative data in the form of narratives about the role of teachers in fostering entrepreneurial attitudes through scouting. The data source used is the primary data source and the secondary data source. Data collection techniques in this study include observation techniques, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study use interactive techniques. The results of research 1) In carrying out scouting activities or scout excursions are carried out on Fridays when at the time of lessons, because learning is still face-to-face limited.2) The role of teachers in fostering student entrepreneurship attitudes by building entrepreneurship attitudes, so that learners like challenges, creative and innovative, and more courageous in making decisions. 3) In cultivating an entrepreneurial attitude there are several obstacles that must be faced by scouting teachers. There are obstacles that come from teachers and students The existing constraints must be overcome so that the desired goal can be achieved

Abstract

Schools provide understanding to students to avoid disruptive behavior. Teachers have strategies to deal with disruptive student behavior in the classroom. This study aims to describe teacher strategies in dealing with student disruptive behavior and reveal students' preferences for teacher strategies in dealing with disruptive behavior of the first grade at a public elementary school in Baki. This type of research is qualitative using a case study approach in an elementary school so that the subject of the study is teachers and students. This research data are information about teacher strategies in dealing with student disruptive behavior and students’ preferences toward teacher strategies in dealing with disruptive behavior in the classroom. The data sources used are students and teachers. Data collection techniques used were observation and interviews. Meanwhile, the data were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s model consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that teachers used several strategies to deal with students' disruptive behaviour, including classroom management, taking individual approaches, behavior management, understanding student characteristics, and teaching social skills. The strategies that students prefer are classroom management, individual approach, and behavior management. Disruptive behavior of students during learning can be reduced if the teacher has an effective strategy and that strategy becomes the student's preference.

Abstract

Teaching English in rural areas presents another hurdle for English language teachers. Furthermore, this present study attempted to analyze the challenges of teaching English for young learners in Indonesian rural area. This study employed qualitative methodology and  case study was used as a research design. Then, in this study, purposive sampling was adopted to select the participants. Furthermore, three elementary English teachers were participated as the participants in this study. In addition, the data were collected through semi-structured interview. Then, to validate the data this study used credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Furthermore, thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. This study discovered that there were five main challenges of teaching English in rural areas which were the status of English in curriculum, lack of qualified English teacher, insufficient of educational facilities, students’ negative attitudes toward English and students’ socio-economic background. Additionnally, the implications of this study was provided valuable information for further research and can be helpful to school's stakeholders to increase the quality of the education in the English language learning process, especially at the primary level of education.

Abstract

The way English is taught these days has advanced significantly with the usage of modern technology. The majority of English language instructors in the modern era actively use a variety of technical tools intended to provide the best possible instruction. One of the technical tool is “Computer”. This is one of the most important technological developments of our day, and because of its great performance efficiency and immense potential, which have decreased effort, time, and costs in many areas of use. The teaching and learning of languages is one of these. A computer is utilized for linguistic tasks that related to mastering the English skill. This essayaims to emphasize the advantages and applications of computers that can be used by the teacher in teaching learning English. Furthermore, it seeks to increase awareness of the advantages of computer technology in illuminating instruction for both educators and students. The design of this study is qualitative library method. Even though there are many shortcomings using computer, this can still help teachers in English teaching learning process and increase students’ motivation in learning English.

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to investigate the differences between traditional and authentic assessments in education in order to improve teaching and learning practices. Using a descriptive literature study method, this study analyses various relevant academic sources to identify the strengths and weaknesses of both types of assessments. The results show that authentic assessments are more effective in measuring critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while traditional assessments are more suitable for evaluating memorization and basic skills. The conclusion of the study recommends the use of a combination of both types of assessments to support deeper learning and better educational outcomes.
