Abstract

Shaikh Muhammad Arshad al-Banjari, the 18th century scholar of Banjar has been known as a leading jurist of his time in Indonesia and in the whole South East Asia. In this paper we are interested in exposing his jurisprudential thought by referring to the cultural, social and intellectual milieus that shaped his thought. The paper is particularly interested in discussing his views on the notion of mustahiq, those who deserve to alms (zakah), and the notion of disputed wealth. The former is elaborated in his Sabil al-Muhtadîn and the latter in his al-Farâ’d.

Abstract

Negara yang berpenduduk muslim seperti Indonesia, tampaknya mengalami kesulitan dalam mengelola dana-dana sosial keagamaan yang sangat potensial. Problem yang mendasari belum optimalnya pendayagunaan zakat di Indonesia disebabkan karena persoalan sistem pelaksanaan zakat yang belum terintegrasi antara penghimpunan, pendistribusian dan pendayagunaan. Belum terintegrasinya sistem pelaksanaan zakat dapat ditelusuri dari sistem pengelolaan zakat dan sistem pengawasannya, sehingga diperlukan kerangka teoritis untuk menganalisis masalah tersebut. Model alternatif solusi pengelolaan zakat yang efektif dan efisien adalah melalui kelembagaan pengelolaan zakat terintegrasi. Kelembagaan pengelolaan zakat terintegrasi yang efektif, efisien dan akuntabel adalah melalui kelembagaan perbankan syari’ah yang memiliki dua fungsi pokok yaitu sebagai lembaga intermediasi dana profit-bisnis dan sebagai lembaga intermediasi dana sosial keagamaan seperti zakat.

Abstract

This paper studies on al-Qaradawi’s stock zakat in the millennial era and modern industry. The main purpose of the study is to elaborate several points of significance of stock zakat within huge benefits of the capital market in Indonesia; therefore, this paper is a content analysis type of study using a literature study approach. In the meantime, the primary resource for the literature is a kitab (book) entitled fiqh al-zakat by Yusuf al-Qaradawi published in 1973. The crucial point emphasized by the paper is that al-Qaradawi’s thoughts and opinions on stock zakat have been proven that he was such a progressive ulama (Islamic scholar), even he is in the current industrial revolution era. He has shown that such critical and innovative thoughts, either in zakat or other aspects. Al-Qaradawi points out that stock is categorized into traded goods so that it is an object of zakat; 2.5% of total stock should be taken out to those deserving. Indonesia as a country with the biggest Muslim majority in the world has been implementing stock zakat when one of the companies namely PT Henan Putihrai Sekuritas issued this kind of zakat. This made Indonesia the first country to proceed with stock zakat as the application of al-Qaradawi’s thoughts and opinions after 45 years.

Abstract

The main purpose of Community Service (PKM) is to bring educational institutions closer to the community, so that universities can help the community in the fields of education, counseling, developing human resources and community knowledge and prospering the economy. The targets of this Community Service (PKM) activity are zakat managers or zakat collectors in Palangka Raya City as well as the local community. So we need programs / activities related to zakat amil who carry out zakat management manually. So that this activity is carried out to develop the resources and knowledge of zakat amil in managing zakat more professionally and using technology. The implementation of community service activities at the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business IAIN Palangka Raya has been going well and smoothly, the zakat collectors in the Menteng sub-district, Palangka Rata city are very enthusiastic about participating in the activities held.

Abstract

This paper examines the role of Islamic banking in developing the Indonesian halal cosmetics industry. The method used includes a qualitative descriptive study through exploratory studies on optimizing the role of Islamic banks in the development of the halal cosmetic industry. The data source uses primary and secondary data through data collection techniques from interviews to literature study. Then, data collection also involves the author's opinion regarding the research issue data analysis, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, conclusions, and verification. Challenges and opportunities in the halal cosmetics industry continue to experience increasingly significant developments that affect the growth and development of the halal cosmetics industry. Therefore, the synergy between Islamic banking institutions, the government, and even related institutions is undoubtedly needed. This needs to be implemented by Islamic banks to optimize regulations and roles in the development of the halal cosmetic industry. First is regulation, followed by the process of preservation and standardization of halal products. Second, the synergy of Sharia institutions for halal industry players can be achieved by providing financing funds, mentoring, and education. Third, the synergy of Islamic banks with educational institutions through inclusive awareness of the halal cosmetic industry in educational institutions.

Abstract

The harmonization of Islamic law through the spiritual dimension and the transformation of Islamic teachings in seems to be a disconnect between the spiritual essence of Islam and its legal framework in contemporary times. This disconnect raises questions about the extent to which current Islamic law fully embraces the spiritual principles that have become an integral part of the Nusantara heritage. Therefore, this research aimed to explore how Sheikh Washil's fiqh-sufistic can function as an Islamic legal framework, based on the spiritual principles of the Nusantara and answer contemporary issues. This research used an interdisciplinary approach with two approaches, History and Islamic Law. This research explored the literature of Sheikh Washil including his contribution to Islamic law. The findings of this study: first, fiqh-sufistic contributes to spiritual studies within a legal framework in order to understand and practice the characteristics of Islam Nusantara with an inclusive approach through the values of living ihya in da'wah and thought. Second, fiqh-sufistic presents a balanced approach to Islamic law, which is in harmony with the cultural context and heritage. The integration of fiqh-tasawuf shows the harmonization of Islamic law and the transformation of Islamic teachings in the context of the Nusantara. Third, the prevalence of fiqh-sufistic has had a transformative impact on the inclusive religious landscape, encouraging a deeper understanding of Islam as a way of life, not just a set of legal rules.

Abstract

This article explores the need for an MUI fatwa on persons with disabilities. Humans are creatures of God who are created to have a set of rights as humans that must be safeguarded and protected. Islam recognizes and respects the existence of people with disabilities and upholds their rights. This is because Islam encourages its followers to have compassion and love for all humanity. The method used in this research is qualitative research with a literature study research type. The literature research approach involves collecting and analyzing data from various literature related to the need for an MUI fatwa on persons with disabilities. The result of this research shows that the need for an MUI fatwa on persons with disabilities serves as an effort to increase the awareness of all Indonesian people, especially Muslims, about the importance of showing respect and value to persons with disabilities as humanitarian brothers, national brothers and even Islamic brothers. It can also be used to strengthen the rights of persons with disabilities in various fields and encourage the creation of an inclusive environment.
