Abstract

This article attempts to contextualize the concept brought forward by S.M.P. Tjondronegoro regarding rural social organization under development. The framework used by Tjondronegoro makes it possible to re-open the discussion on villages and peasants from the point of view of peasant household economic theory. The central question of this discussion remains similar to Tjondronegoro's previous concern, such as the participation of rural communities under development. These two approaches touch the basic theory that views participation from different angles. By using the concept of sodality as a cultural mediation space, where cultural agroecology is seen as a representation of the agency and actions of peasants, the issue of participation in rural development can be seen more broadly. This effort places Tjondronegoro's concept within the spectrum of agroecological science and movement.

Abstract

Abstract Geertz’s religious characterization underwent drastic change since the ‘65 event. Western influences and the use of Wahabi-salafism as instruments of religious politics have changed the open model of religious life. After that event, the model of religious life turns into closed; formed on the basis of a political security agenda and limited to five official religions.. This article views the model as the basis for the formation of an authoritarian religious character, among others, which gives space to modernists to control the political infrastructure of religious and state religious resources, strengthen limited official religious arrangements, allow pressures and threats to work on religious conversion, purification of traditions and labeling untruth. In addition, the model is used to produce a discourse of tolerance which has the following tendencies: the discourse of tolerance originating from Western political philosophy is contradictory to the religious norms that are growing in Indonesian society, and the discourse operates in a limited manner among official religions as the dominant discourse that is dominant creating formal-exclusivism that strengthens the authoritarian religious character. Key words: diversity, authoritarianism, tolerance, religious dialogue, reconciliation, marginality

Abstract

Post-colonial states in Southeast Asia have deep roots in their history of civilization and culture. Its strength lies not in its purity of identity but in its ability to be a hybrid of the various waves of civilization and culture that make it cosmopolitan. This character becomes the basis for analyzing the ability of post-colonial states to accommodate religion, especially the strengthening of Islamism throughout the formation of the nation-state. This article puts the experience of moderating the threat of disintegration in that capability. The question to be answered is how do these states moderate the threat of disintegration related to the strengthening of Islamism? Through literature study, it can be seen that there are three threats of disintegration related to Islamism, namely first, the struggle for territorial sovereignty in Thailand and the Philippines; second, the movement with the vision of an Islamic state in Indonesia; and third, the establishment of the Jamaah Islamiyah caliphate covering Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines. The ability to accommodate through religious moderation occurs in three complex political and democratic processes. First, moderation through the process of integration of the nation-state as in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines; Second, moderation through the democratization process in almost all countries in the archipelagic region; and third, moderation by civil society in Indonesia and Malaysia. Nevertheless, the challenges of Islamism, especially those related to the network of transnational Islamic ideologies, still haunt states in Southeast Asia. This article suggests that the government and civil society work together to increase the state's role in religious moderation capabilities that are in line with global dynamics.

Abstract

Transformation of digitalization in large industries has an impact on the automation of production equipment, including the replacement of production machines from conventional machines (manual) to digital machines. Meanwhile, automation of production equipment requires workers with higher skills, in fact the existing workforce does not have expertise in carrying out all-digital equipment. The impact is a reduction in labor (layoffs). Machine replacement is done in stages so that the reduction of workforce (PHK) in bulk is not visible. However, the inconsistency between the preparation in the world of education and the needs in the world of work continues to occur today. Until now, vocational development based on local resources has not been operating optimally and needs serious attention from the local government. The government on various occasions mentioned four leading sectors that will be strengthened in the development of vocational institutions, namely maritime, tourism, agriculture (food security), and the creative industry. In addition, the government is also developing a policy scheme for Skill Development Funds (SDF), which is a skills improvement program for workers affected by automation (PHK), including through Vocational Training Center (BLK).
