Abstract

Letak Desa yang berada di daerah pesisir sehingga penduduk tidak memiliki fasilitas sanitasi yang layak. Banyak masyarakat yang menggunakan jamban cemplung yang tidak memiliki septic tank dan dapat mencemari sumber air. Tujuan diadakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk menambah pengetahuan dan mengubah perilaku warga Desa Bajo Indah tentang pembuangan tinja bukan pada tempat dapat merusak estetika dan dapat menjadi sumber penyakit. Kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah sosialisasi dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, serta pembuatan septic tank komunal sebagai percontohan bagi warga Desa setempat. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah warga telah mengetahui pentingnya pembuangan tinja pada tempatnya. Warga juga sangat antusias dalam membuatan 1 unit septic tank komunal sebagai percontohan yang digunakan oleh 3 rumah, dan lokasi pembuatannya dilakukan di Dusun I Desa Bajo Indah. Diharapkan bagi aparat Desa serta pemerintah setempat, agar memberikan alternatif dalam penindaklanjutan pembuatan septic tank komunal untuk mengurangi beban ekonomi warga, serta tiap warga dapat memiliki jamban yang memenuhi syarat kesehatan.

Abstract

Background: The corona virus (covid-19) pandemic in Indonesia is still growing. Every week the number of infections of Covid-19 was 2,273 cases. Where as, 198 of them died and 164 people were treated. In fact, among them are healthy workers who help treat corona virus patients and become infected afterward. There was a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers in Southeast Sulawesi province, especially at Kendari City, Health Center Kandai. This makes health workers have to take turns wearing PPE if they want to do their job. Therefore, many health workers feel restless and do not want to carry out their duties if they are not provided with adequate PPE, because they will examine people or patients whose health status is not yet known. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the providing of self-protective equipment and occupational stress events of health officers in the handling of Covid-19 at Kandai health center. Methods: This type of research is an analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study amounted to 58 people using the total sampling method. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with the incidence of work stress for health workers in handling covid-19 at Kandai Health CenterKendari City, with the statistical test results being 18,322. Conclusion: It is hoped that policy makers, especially the head of the Kandai Health Center, pay more attention to the safety and health of their employees, such as in the provision of PPE, and for health workers, especially at Kandai Health Center, to further improve the Covid-19 protocol that is applied to themselves and patients.

Abstract

AbstractThe title of this study was teaching reading recount texts through evidence-based strategy to the eighth grade students of State Junior high School 7 of Palembang. The problem of this study was the students have difficulties to identify the meaning of the word, main idea of the texts, and detail information even they enjoyed in reading learning. It makes the students hard to understand the text, especially in reading recount texts. The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there are any significantly difference by the students who are teach recount text through evidence-based strategy and those who are not. The true-experimental method with randomized pre-test and pot-test control group design was used in this study. The data was analyzed through matched t-test and independent t-test. The population of this study was all the eighth grade students of State Junior High School 7 of Palembang Academic Year 2018/2019 with the total number of population was 328 students from 11 classes. The simple cluster sampling used in this study. The samples are VIII.1 as the experimental group with 31 students and VIII.5 as the control group with 28 students. The average score of post-test in experimental group was 85,56 and the average score in the post-test in control group was 79,73. based on the findings in this study, the researcher was concluded that there was significant difference of students’ score between the students who were taught through evidence-based strategy and those who were taught without evidence-based strategy in reading recount texts at State Junior High School 7 of Palembang. It could be seen from the value of t-obtained was higher than the value of t-table (2,78>1,697). It means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Form the data analysis above, it could be conclude that there was significant difference in reading recount texts of the eighth grade students of State Junior High School 7 of Palembang who were taught through evidence-based strategy and those who were not.Keyword: Reading, Recount Texts, and Evidence-based strategy

Abstract

Abstract            This study aimed at finding out whether or not there is significant difference in reading comprehension achievements between high motivation students and low motivation students who are taught by using REDW strategy. The writer choose 30 students as the sample of the study. The sample was selected by using cluster random sampling. The data collected by using tests. The data were analyzed by using match t-test through SPSS 17 Program. The result showed that difference. This the significant difference. This obtained that the significance value was 0.030. It means that there is a significant difference in the effect of REDW strategy on reading comprehension for high or low learning motivation. Then, the significant value of learning motivation was 0.00. Since  it was less than 0.05. it could be interpreted that learning motivation contributed influence on the reading comprehension. It was obtained that significance value was 0.02. There is a significant influence of REDW and learning motivation an students’ reading comprehension achievement. Keywords: REDW Strategy, Learning Motivation, Reading Comprehension

Abstract

Abstract             The objective of this study was to know whether or not the application of comic strip could increase speaking skill for the tenth graders of SMA N 22 Palembang. In this study, the writer used weak experimental method. The population of this  study consisted of 153 students of SMA N 22 Palembang. The writer chose one class as the sample of the study. The sample was selected by using convenience sampling method. There were 34 students as the samples of this study. The data were collected by using written test.            The result showed, in the pretest, the highest score was 8, while the lowest was 5 with the mean scores was 7.35. However, in the posttest, the highest score was 12, while the lowest score was 6 with the mean scores 8.35. It could be interpreted that comic strip was mostly effective to be used in increasing speaking skill for the tenth graders of SMA N 22Palembang. Thus, the research hypothesis stated ” It is effective teaching writing a descriptive paragraph by using mind mapping” was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. Keywords: Application, Comic Strip, Speaking Skill

Abstract

ABSTRAK            Kajian tentang permasalahan bahasa dan sastra yang menjembatani kearifan lokal dalam era globalisasi sangat relevan diwacanakan. Kenyataan ini seiring dengan berbagai perubahan yang terjadi dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat, berbangsa, dan bernegara pasca reformasi seiring timbulnya tuntutan yang berlebihan hampir dalam segala aspek kehidupan.Bangsa Indonesia harus menyadari bahwa pengaruh ekonomi yang dimunculkan oleh pasar bebas juga berdampak terhadap bahasa dan sastra Indonesia, bahkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra. Tuntutan yang demikian sering memicu permasalahan krusial, sehingga dapat mengancam keutuhan dalam hidup bermasyarakat, berbangsa, dan bernegara. Kearifan lokal merupakan elemen budaya yang harus digali, dikaji, dan direvitalisasikan karena esensinya begitu penting dalam penguatan fondasi jatidiri bangsa dalam menghadapi tantangan globalisasi. Pertanyaan yang muncul adalah apakah nilai-nilai budaya lokal sebagai perekat identitas bangsa masih relevan untuk direvitalisasi dalam menghadapi berbagai permasalahan di era globalisasi ini. Kata kunci: Bahasa dan Sastra, Kearifan Lokal

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini berjudul “The Application of KWL Strategy in Teaching Reading Comprehension to the Eight Grade Students of Bina Warga Junior High School of Palembang.”  Permasalahan penelitian ini berhubungan dengan kesulitan siswa dalam menemukan ide utama dalam menjawab pertanyaan secara tepat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan apakah Strategy KWL efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan siswa kelas 8 di SMP Bina Warga Palembang.Metode penelitian  ini menggunakan metode pre-experimen. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 40 orang siswa kelas 8 di SMP Bina Warga Palembang . Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes tertulis, dan dianalisa menggunakan rumus uji t.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa pada tes awal yaitu 50.62, dan nilai rata-rata pada tes akhir yaitu 81,25, sedangkan hasil perhitunganUji t menunjukkan bahwa nilainya yaitu 11.96, yang lebih besar dari pada nilai kritis yaitu 1.684. Hal ini dapat dinyatakan bahwa penggunaan strategy KWL dinilai efektif dalam mengajarkan membaca bagi siswa kelas 8 di SMP Bina Warga Palembang. Kata Kunci: Penerapan, Strategy KWL, Pemahaman Bacaan

Abstract

Introduction Under 5 years is a critical period for child growth,when growth faltering often occurs. Periodical growth monitoringand nutritional counseling can detect growth faltering earlier, de-termine the cause, and find alternatives to solve such problems.Objective To determine the benefit of nutritional counseling onknowledge, attitude, practice of mothers, and child growth.Methods A randomized controlled trial was conducted inSendangguwo, Semarang on 143 children of the treatment groupand 135 children of the control group. Nutritional counseling wasgiven to mothers in the treatment group by trained health volun-teers. Changes of weight for age Z-score (WAZ), height for age Z-score (HAZ), and weight for height Z-score (WHZ) were analyzedrepeatedly by using ANOVA. The differences of ΔWAZ, ΔHAZ, andΔWHZ between groups were compared by student t-test. GEE (gen-eralized estimating equation) analysis was used to analyze theeffect of confounding variables on the changes of WAZ.Results After 6 months of counseling, knowledge, attitude, andpractice of nutrition in the treatment group significantly increasedcompared to that of the control group (P<0.001). The WAZ, HAZ,and WHZ curves in the control group decreased. However, in thetreatment group, WHZ increased and there was stabilization ofWAZ. At the end of the study, treatment group had significantlyimproved their WAZ (P<0.001), HAZ (P=0.004), and WHZ(P<0.001) compared to that of the control group.Conclusion Nutritional counseling can improve knowledge, atti-tude, and practice of mothers, and has beneficial effects on childgrowth by WAZ, HAZ, and WHZ

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan sebagai perwujudan pelaksanaan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi Dosen Universitas PGRI Palembang dan L2 Dikti  Palembang. telah kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dengan judul Sosialisasi Metode Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Dalam  Peningkatan Speaking Skill  Dengan Menggunakan Perangkat Multimedia  DiSMAN 1 PAMPANGAN, OKIsecara keseluruhan para peserta didik di SMAN 1 PAMPANGAN OKI sangat antusias dan bersemangat mengikuti kegiatan ini. Mereka semua merasa bahagia ketika diberikan ceramah yang diselingi dengan ice breaking yang lucu dan membuat mereka sangat senang mengikuti kegiatan ini. Dengan pakar pemateri 1-6 “Asyiknya Belajar Bahasa Inggris” membuat para peserta didik bisa tertawa terbahak bahak dan selalu ingin mendengarkan kelucuan beliau dalam penyampaian English wordsyang lucu dan mudah diterima oleh para peserta didik. Sehingga mengingat bahasa inggris susah sepertinya telah hilang dari pikiran mereka. mereka impikan akan berhasil bilamana diikuti dengan langkah –langkah yang disampaikan. Dengan semangatnya itu diharapkan banyak peserta didik  tertarik untuk melanjutkan studi ke jenjang Perguruan Tinggi di UNIV.PGRI PLG dan mengambil Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di FKIP.Demikian kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yang kami laporkan sebagai bahan untuk mendapatkan masukan yang membangun demi peningkatan kegiatan ini supaya bermanfaat untuk semua orang.
