Abstract

Virtual Reading Room (RBV) and Digital Learning Materials (BA Digital) are forms of learning service provided by Universitas Terbuka (UT). RBV and BA digital are digitizations of the Main Material Book (BMP) developed to help students read modules through the internet network. The existence of RBV and BA digital is expected to assist the students learning process, independently, even for students living in  remote area. This study describes the benefits, as well as the limitations of RBV and BA digital according to students perspective from 17 regional office (UPBJJ-UT) in Indonesia and overseas. This study is written using quantitative descriptive approach. The findings shows that  99% of respondents are aware of the existence of RBV and BA digital. Half of the respondents are aware of these two digital teaching materials from UT's website. The 53% respondents studied RBV and BA digital for less than 30 minutes, and more than sixty percent of the respondents accessed and used it during the tutorials. Ruang Baca Virtual (RBV) dan BA digital merupakan salah satu bentuk layanan belajar yang disediakan oleh Universitas Terbuka (UT). RBV dan BA digital merupakan digitalisasi dari Buku Materi Pokok (BMP) yang dikembangkan untuk membantu mahasiswa membaca modul melalui jaringan internet. Dengan adanya RBV dan BA digital diharapkan dapat membantu proses pembelajaran secara mandiri dan jarak jauh bagi mahasiswa UT. Artikel ini akan memaparkan tentang manfaat RBV dan BA digital dalam perspektif mahasiswa pada 17 UPBJJ-UT (Indonesia dan Luar Negri), sehingga dapat diketahui kelebihan dan kelemahannya. Artikel ini ditulis berdasarkan hasil penelitian dengan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Berdasarkan data yang yang diperoleh diketahui bahwa 99% responden telah mengetahui adanya RBV dan BA digital. Setengah dari jumlah responden mengetahui kedua bahan ajar digital tersebut dari laman website UT. Sebanyak 53% responden mempelajari RBV dan BA digital selama kurang dari 30 menit, dan lebih dari 60 persen responden mengaksesnya saat tutorial.

Abstract

This research is based on the assumption that films do not only show mere entertainment. They have space for various ideological representations. The aim of this research is to reveal how ?the symbol of eternity? has been constructed through ?Blood Diamond?, a Hollywood film. The research uses qualitative method with semiotic approach. The result shows that there are some ?symbols of eternity? contructed in that film, which is Bling Blang versus Bling Bling, This Is Africa (TIA), and Black and White. Bling Blang versus Bling Bling shows that diamond is one of the symbols of eternity which has different meanings for two different countries. In Africa, it is marked by bloodshed. While in America, it is identical with luxury and pride. Meanwhile, TIA is a symbol of eternal significance showing that Africa is often constructed as a rich black continent, but known as areas of conflict, civil war and chaos. Lastly, Black and White in this movie are contructed as two groups that have different social classes.

Abstract

This research based on the assumption that drug abusers are capable and aware ones to interpret spiritual therapy symbol for their healing. The interpretation is important for meaning construction process in communication. This aim research is finding out spiritual therapy process for drug abuser in Pondok Inabah II and identity change in therapy process as part of the therapeutic communication process for healing from drug addiction. The research design was qualitative method with phenomenology tradition. The subject were eight drug abuser were being therapy. The subject selected purposively by particular criteria and their readiness. The data such as statements and communication behaviors found by in depth interview, then analyzed descriptive-qualitatively. The result show that identity change of drug abuser from identity of drug abuser to ?anak bina? in Pondok Inabah II and identity of ?Ikhwan TQN?. The identity change take place three level; transition phase, initiation phase, and intensification phase. Researcher found the consciousness of drug abuser that is medical and spiritual consciousness. The identity change also shows consciousness change

Abstract

Digitalisasi arsip dapat dilakukan dengan cara mengalihmediakan arsip dari manual menjadi arsip digital. Digitalisasi arsip dapat menjadi solusi atas kelemahan arsip manual. Manfaat digitalisasi arsip diantaranya untuk menghindari kerusakan arsip atau kehilangan arsip akibat bencana alam. Mitra pada kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PkM) yang dilakukan oleh Program Studi D-IV Kearsipan Jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi dan Informasi Fakultas Ilmu Hukum, Ilmu Sosial, dan Ilmu Politik (FHISIP) Universitas Terbuka adalah Kelurahan Pamulang Timur Kecamatan Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan, Banten, Indonesia. Pada saat PkM dilakukan, Kelurahan Pamulang Timur belum menerapkan digitalisasi arsip. Pengelolaan arsip masih dilakukan secara manual sehingga memerlukan edukasi mengenai proses digitalisasi. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan PkM adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan dengan tujuan agar pengelola arsip dapat memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam melakukan digitalisasi arsip di Kelurahan Pamulang Timur.

Abstract

The title of this community service (PKM) is Assistance and Counseling on Family Restoration (Archives Rescue) Services (LARASKA) in Sasak Panjang Tajur Halang Village, Bogor. The purpose of this PKM activity is that it is hoped that the Laraska program in Sasak Panjang Tajur Halang Village, Bogor, can be an incentive for other communities to take advantage of the LARASKA program. This program can later become a sustainable program among residents. In this LARASKA Program, several methods are used: Lecture method; discussion method; Simulation, and practice methods. There are two activities in archival restoration, namely encapsulation, and lamination. The team chose the encapsulation activity because document lamination or laminating press activities could damage documents. The writing in the document will stick to the laminating plastic. Documents such as diplomas, certificates, marriage certificates are acid free. Simple maintenance can make documents last up to 100 years without the need for lamination. If you need to do lamination, that's fine, but the team doesn't recommend lamination and if you have to do lamination, you can do lamination but not the press method, just like on the cover but don't forget to leave a little cavity for air circulation.

Abstract

Long Distance Learning has a unique system in its process, that is, the distance between the students and their lecturers. In order to master study materials, a media is required as a tool for students. Books materials or modules are primary tools for students learning. Furthermore, there are other learning materials for students such as printing materials in digital formats that contain audio-video, dry lab, interactive videos programs, TV and radio features. For universities, long distance learning for diploma program is quite difficult since the program requires students to master vocational skills that relate to the program study. The curriculum standard has to be 60% for practice and 40% for theories. Of course, this requires universities to push students to do practice more than learning theories. Similarly, the standard of Indonesian National Qualification Network (KKNI-Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia) expects students who graduate from Level 6 of Diploma IV shall have the capacity to arrange plans, innovations as well as evaluation of their own vocational skills. Modules of Active Records Management discuss on Records Management which is on the practice basis. From the research conducted, there are 9 (nine) modules of Active Records Management modules which are still not on the practice basis, they are modules 3,4,5,6,7,8,9. In order to design a module profile on the practice basis, the research mainly focuses on modules 6 and 9. This qualitative research is conducted with a combination of modules studies by records and archives experts to see the materials’ quality and practice competency. Moreover, instructional designers also review the modules for its learning designs. The research is expected to achieve high quality and appropriate modules to meet the requirement of diploma and distance learning programs. The objective of this research is to describe records management modules as one of the modules which are practice basis and to identify the level of understanding of diploma program students at long distance learning universities. The target is the construction of A Learning Model on Practice Basis for Diploma Program at Long Distance Universities.

Abstract

Prior to the promulgation of the Regulation of The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Mendikbudristek) Number 30 of 2021, several universities have established a procedure of preventing and handling sexual violence cases in their respective domains. The promulgation has since encouraged commitment of these institutions to actively tackle the issue. This article elaborates the patterns of handling of sexual violence in seven Indonesian universities using qualitative method and pragmatic approach. Instead of addressing to certain theories, this method focuses on providing answers for a concrete issue. The researchers obtained the data by conducting in-depth interviews, focus group discussion, and document analysis. As results, there are two categories of status, including the institutions that had already assembled a special task force for preventing and handling sexual violence prior to the issuance of the regulation and the institutions that had not. From these two categories, the researchers found three patterns and propose a framework for handling of sexual violence in Indonesian universities. The designed model is based on a compilation of various handling procedures, implemented best practices, and violence prevention measures in higher education. It complements the already implemented procedures in accordance with regulations.. It is hoped that this framework will assist universities that do not yet have or need to change their procedures for addressing sexual violence.
