Abstract

Research in the area of herbal neuropharmacological effects has increased markedly over the past decades. This research was aimed to further investigate neuropharmacological properties of Cyperus rotundus rhizomes fraction by measuring hypnotic-siccative and anticonvulsant activities. The exploratory behavior test was performed using Hole Board method while motor coordination was assessed using Rotarod Test. The result showed that the 70% ethanol fraction of Cyperus rotundus rhizome in has significant (p <0,05) neuropharmacological activities. All three fractions tested (ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane), the ethanol fraction showed the best hypnotic-sedative and anticonvulsant activities. Ethanol Cyperus rotundus rhizome fraction could decrease the duration of HLE equal to sodium valproate and potentiated the phenobarbital-induced sleep by decreasing the onset and prolonging the duration of sleep. The highest dose of 70% ethanol fraction of Cyperus rotundus rhizome (356.7 mg/kg) showed the best anxiolytic activity comparable to diazepam (p> 0.05). In conclusion, Teki ladang (Cyperus rotundus) rhizome appeared as potent neuropharmacological drug candidate with abilities comparable to synthetics drugs.

Abstract

Perilaku bullying disekolah merupakan salah satu permasalahan sosial yang kini sangat banyak ditemukan dan memiliki dampak negatif pada kondisi psikologis dan sosial siswa yang pada akhirnya akan mempengaruhi proses belajar mengajar siswa di sekolah. Banyak guru dan orang tua di sekolah taman kanak-kanak tidak menyadari bahwa perilaku anak didiknya sudah mengarah dan memperlihatkan tindakan bully. Perilaku bullying harus dicegah sedini mungkin agar menghasilkan anak didik yang sehat dalam pergaulan sosialnya. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini merupakan program pelatihan preventif untuk mencegah dan meminimalkan bully disekolah . Kegiatan dilaksanakan diruang aula  Kelompok Bermain (KB), TK A dan TK B Hifzhul Amanah Perumnas Klender yang diikuti oleh staf guru, para siswa, orang tua murid. Metode yang dipakai adalah penjelasan materi berupa ceramah, interaktif dalam diskusi, pendekatan komunikasi dengan anak didik melalui permainan. Mitra menyambut positif kegiatan ini dan terbukti dari antusiasnya peserta dalam berdiskusi karena tema yang diadakan sangat sesuai dengan problema dunia anak sekarang. Karena adanya keterbatasan waktu mitra mengharapkan adanya kelanjutan kegiatan pada periode yang akan datang. Hasil dari kegaiatan ini diharapkan mitra akan membentuk suatu  kebijakan antibullying yang disepakati oleh siswa, guru .membangun komunikasi dan interaksi antar civitas akademika, penegakan aturan/sanksi/disiplin sesuai kesepakatan. Sangat penting guru dan orang tua memiliki pengetahuan dan ketrampilan mengenai pencegahan dan cara mengatasi bullying pada anak usia dini  sehingga terhindar dari dampak negative dikemudian hari.

Abstract

Inflammation occurs as the attempt of body to inactivate organisms that attack the body, removing irritants and regulate tissue repair. One of the medicinal plants used empirically as antiinflammation is the leaf of Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Schecff.) Boerl). This study investigated the effect of anti-inflammatory water fraction of leaf Mahkota Dewa using oedema induction method with caragenin in rat. Water fraction of Mahkota Dewa was given at the dose 0.5 g/kg BW ,1 g/kg BW and 2 g/kg BW. Sodium diclofenac was used as a positive control and CMC as negative control. The result showed water fractions of three doses can inhibit inflammation at 27.35%, 18.58%, and 20.17%, respectively. The water fraction at the dose 0.5 g/kgBW showed the largest percentage of oedema inhibition compared to other treatment groups.

Abstract

Ki hampelas (Sterculia rubiginosa Zoll. Ex Miq.) is traditionally used as an antiasthma. It also reported has antioxidant and nephroprotective activity. This study was conducted to evaluate the subchronic toxicity of the leaf extract of ki hampelas. The extract was orally administered to male and female Sprague-Dawley rats at doses of 50, 200, and 400 mg/kg bodyweight (BW) per day for 28 days. The rats were divided into four groups, consist of consist of normal group (Na CMC 0.5%), dose 1 (50 mg/kg BW), dose 2 (200 mg/kg BW), and dose 3 (400 mg/ kg BW) of extract. The extract was administered every day for 28 days. Subchronic toxicity in the male and female rats resulted in no death or treatment-related signs at the highest dose. All the animals survived the duration of the study, with no significant changes in biochemical parameters and there was a change in the liver and kidney histopathology results. There was no significant difference between the SGOT, SGPT, urea, and creatinine levels in the dose groups with extracts and the normal group (p > 0.05). However, based on the histological results of the liver and kidneys it was found a significant difference among the groups. This study showed that the leaf extract of ki hampelas is relatively non-toxic according to the normal biochemical parameters results and has no treatment-related signs. There was a change in the liver and kidney histopathology results, but no death was found.

Abstract

Dengue fever has become one of the endemic diseases in the Sukmajaya area of Depok. This disease can claim the lives of up to 10% of those affected. Community empowerment, particularly through the empowerment of PKK groups. This community service aims to increase the community's ability to prevent the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito through empowering the PKK group community. It can prevent the spread of mosquitoes by introducing natural materials as mosquito repellents and creating lotion and spray products as alternative solutions. The program involves training and assistance in producing lotions and sprays using natural ingredients. Using essential oils as raw materials, along with marketing techniques, can be a solution to address this issue. The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Science (FFS) UHAMKA and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UHAMKA provided comprehensive training and guidance in the pharmacy skills program. Participants were instructed on creating lotion and mosquito repellent spray formulations using natural ingredients, including orange leaf extract, orange oil, lavender oil, and clove oil. The training consisted of lectures followed by a hands-on workshop on entrepreneurship, focusing on the importance of selecting appropriate packaging and promoting the products effectively. Participants are very enthusiastic about acquiring this skill because it enhances the capabilities of PKK administrators in utilizing natural materials in forms that will later boost the spirit of entrepreneurship and help prevent dengue fever.

Abstract

Improving entrepreneurship skills is very important in the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of layoffs carried out by the industrial world is one of the reasons for the high number of layoffs now. Entrepreneurial skills are an important part of educating school children from the start so that after graduation they are expected to open up job opportunities for themselves and others. Vocational High School (SMK) is now one of the schools that can produce skilled and innovative personnel. One of the private vocational schools in Surakarta that is trying to do that is SMK BATIK 1. The UHAMKA FFS Service Team provides training and guidance on the pharmacy expertise program to make foot care preparations, in the form of foot sanitizer and foot lotion. Preparations made from natural ingredients lemongrass extract, ginger extract, and coffee extract. Activities include lectures and workshops. Activities provide benefits in the form of increasing the soft skills and hard skills of students in utilizing natural materials in dosage forms which will increase the selling value.

Abstract

Daun pepaya mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, dan tanin yang diduga memiliki efek antifertilitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek antifertilitas dari ekstrak daun pepaya dengan parameter kualitas sperma serta bobot testis dan vesikula seminalis pada tikus putih jantan galur Sprague Dawley. Penelitian ini dibagi menjadi 2 tahap yaitu ekstraksi dan uji antifertilitas. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metoda maserasi bertingkat menggunakan pelarut etanol, etil asetat dan n-heksana. Perlakuan uji antifertilitas terbagi menjadi delapan kelompok yaitu 2 kelompok kontrol dan 6 kelompok perlakuan (ekstrak etanol 100 dan 150 mg/kg BB, ekstrak etil asetat 100 dan 150 mg/kg BB, ekstrak n-heksana 100 dan 150 mg/kg BB). Ekstrak daun pepaya diberikan secara oral selama 20 hari. Pada hari ke-21 tikus dibedah dan dianalisa kualitas spermatozoa serta diukur bobot testis dan vesikula seminalis. Data yang didapat diuji secara statistik dengan ANOVA satu arah dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Tukey HSD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak n-heksana, ekstrak etil asetat dan ekstrak etanol 70% daun pepaya dapat menurunkan jumlah dan viabilitas spermatozoa serta menurunkan bobot testis dan vesikula seminalis. Ekstrak yang paling baik dalam mempengaruhi efek antifertilitas adalah ekstrak etanol 70% dosis 150 mg/kgBB.
