Abstract

Research in the area of herbal neuropharmacological effects has increased markedly over the past decades. This research was aimed to further investigate neuropharmacological properties of Cyperus rotundus rhizomes fraction by measuring hypnotic-siccative and anticonvulsant activities. The exploratory behavior test was performed using Hole Board method while motor coordination was assessed using Rotarod Test. The result showed that the 70% ethanol fraction of Cyperus rotundus rhizome in has significant (p <0,05) neuropharmacological activities. All three fractions tested (ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane), the ethanol fraction showed the best hypnotic-sedative and anticonvulsant activities. Ethanol Cyperus rotundus rhizome fraction could decrease the duration of HLE equal to sodium valproate and potentiated the phenobarbital-induced sleep by decreasing the onset and prolonging the duration of sleep. The highest dose of 70% ethanol fraction of Cyperus rotundus rhizome (356.7 mg/kg) showed the best anxiolytic activity comparable to diazepam (p> 0.05). In conclusion, Teki ladang (Cyperus rotundus) rhizome appeared as potent neuropharmacological drug candidate with abilities comparable to synthetics drugs.

Abstract

Buah naga selain dikonsumsi dalam bentuk segar juga diolah menjadi beberapa produk olahan. Kulit buah naga mengandung pektin ±10,8%. Pada industri farmasi dan makanan, pektin digunakan sebagai pengikat, pembentuk gel, penstabil, dan pengental. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi pektin, mengkarakterisasi pektin dan mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi pektin sebagai bahan pengikat terhadap viskositas yang dihasilkan pada sediaan pasta gigi. Pektin yang dihasilkan dianalisa secara kualitatif menggunakan FTIR dan memenuhi persyaratan JEFCA ( Joint Expert Committee for Food Additives (FAO/WHO)) dengan nilai susut pengeringan 11,03%, kadar abu 0,41 %, berat ekivalen 617,29 mg dan kadar metoksi 6,50% . Pektin yang sudah dikarakterisasi dibuat pasta gigi dalam 4 formula dengan konsentrasi pektin  sebesar 3%, 3,5%, 4% dan 4,5%, kemudian dievaluasi sifat fisiknya meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas dan sifat alir. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin meningkat konsentrasi penggunaan pektin kulit buah naga maka semakin besar pula viskositas yang dihasilkan.

Abstract

Perilaku bullying disekolah merupakan salah satu permasalahan sosial yang kini sangat banyak ditemukan dan memiliki dampak negatif pada kondisi psikologis dan sosial siswa yang pada akhirnya akan mempengaruhi proses belajar mengajar siswa di sekolah. Banyak guru dan orang tua di sekolah taman kanak-kanak tidak menyadari bahwa perilaku anak didiknya sudah mengarah dan memperlihatkan tindakan bully. Perilaku bullying harus dicegah sedini mungkin agar menghasilkan anak didik yang sehat dalam pergaulan sosialnya. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini merupakan program pelatihan preventif untuk mencegah dan meminimalkan bully disekolah . Kegiatan dilaksanakan diruang aula  Kelompok Bermain (KB), TK A dan TK B Hifzhul Amanah Perumnas Klender yang diikuti oleh staf guru, para siswa, orang tua murid. Metode yang dipakai adalah penjelasan materi berupa ceramah, interaktif dalam diskusi, pendekatan komunikasi dengan anak didik melalui permainan. Mitra menyambut positif kegiatan ini dan terbukti dari antusiasnya peserta dalam berdiskusi karena tema yang diadakan sangat sesuai dengan problema dunia anak sekarang. Karena adanya keterbatasan waktu mitra mengharapkan adanya kelanjutan kegiatan pada periode yang akan datang. Hasil dari kegaiatan ini diharapkan mitra akan membentuk suatu  kebijakan antibullying yang disepakati oleh siswa, guru .membangun komunikasi dan interaksi antar civitas akademika, penegakan aturan/sanksi/disiplin sesuai kesepakatan. Sangat penting guru dan orang tua memiliki pengetahuan dan ketrampilan mengenai pencegahan dan cara mengatasi bullying pada anak usia dini  sehingga terhindar dari dampak negative dikemudian hari.

Abstract

The community uses Tetracera indica (Christm. and Panz.) Merr extensively as a traditional medicine. This plant was the main source of raw materials for herbal medicinal products, so identification was needed to ensure its authenticity through pharmacognosy evaluation. The present study evaluated macros- and microscopic characteristics, performed phytochemical analysis, and performed total phenolic (TPC) and flavonoid content (TFC) analysis. The organoleptic and macroscopic studies were carried out through sensory organs. The microscopic characteristics of leaf powder and twigs identification using chloral hydrate and distilled water. Numerous chemical reagents, TLC methods and LC-MS/MS analysis were employed in the phytochemical study. Research employed DPPH and FRAP tests to assess the antioxidant activity. Furthermore, quercetin was used as a marker of antioxidant activity. The morphological marker of the leaf T. indica showed the surface of the leaves is rough bristles, shape elliptic-oblong, margin serratus and phyllotaxy alternate. The stem is lignosus, and the rough stem surface is slightly peeling. The lower leaf surface had paracytic stomata and uniseriate trichomes with tapering ends. Raphide crystals and cork cells were detected in the powder analysis of the twigs. The ethyl acetate extract's twig had the highest TPC and TFC values. Ethyl acetate extract from Tetracera indica twigs has potent antioxidant activity with IC50 = 99.84±0.011 µg/ml (DPPH) and 4296.67±0.024 mol/g (FRAP). The study showed that Tetracera indica contains possible active components that could be developed as novel antioxidants. The result of this study might provide early verification and identification to obtain quality medicinal raw materials.

Abstract

Herba nanas kerang (Tradescantia spathacea Sw.) termasuk famili Commelinacea, secara tradisional digunakan untuk mengobati beberapa penyakit. Keamanan dan kualitas simplesia sangat penting sebagai bahan baku obat tradisional. Kajian farmakognosi diperlukan untuk karakteristik simplisia dan melengkapi data monografi ekstrak dengan mengevaluasi parameter kualitatif meliputi pengamatan organoleptik, makroskopik, mikroskopik, skrining fitokimia, pola kromatogram, fluoresensi dan pengukuran parameter kuantitatif yang meliputi penentuan kadar abu total, kadar abu tidak larut asam, kadar sari larut air, kadar sari larut etanol, kadar air dan kadar flavonoid total. Herba nanas kerang memiliki warna serbuk hijau kecoklatan, bau  khas, tidak memiliki rasa, makroskopik herba memiliki tipe daun lanset, ujung runcing, warna permukaan hijau, permukaan bawah ungu tua. Batang bulat, herbaceous dengan akar utama tunggang. Mikroskopik herba terdapat fragmen pengenal seperti antosianin, epidermis bawah, stomata tipe parasitik, akar tipe poliark, berkas pengangkut dengan penebalan noktah dan spiral serta kristal jarum. Skrining fitokimia  menunjukkan  adanya senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin dan terpenoid. Hasil  uji kuantitatif didapatkan kadar abu total 9,31%, kadar abu tidak larut asam 1,86%, kadar sari larut air 16,94%, kadar sari larut etanol 11,96%, kadar air 9,64% dan kadar flavonoid total 1,2426%/1 gram ekstrak. Penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan terhadap karakteristik herba nanas kerang yang bisa melengkapi data monografi ekstrak.

Abstract

Tanaman Tetracera indica secara etnomedisina memiliki banyak khasiat farmakologi antara lain digunakan untuk pengobatan diabetes, hiperkolesterol, mengatasi demam, asam urat dll. Gejala penyakit bisa disebabkan oleh paparan radikal bebas yang perlu diantisipasi dengan antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah pencarian ekstrak aktif antioksidan dengan metode FRAP dan uji toksisitas terhadap sel RAW 264,7. Ekstraksi dilakukan secara Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction (UAE) dengan pelarut n-heksan, etil asetat dan etanol 96%. Pengukuran kadar fenol total dengan pereaksi Folin-ciocalteu, dan kadar flavonoid dengan metode kolorimetri. Uji Toksisitas dengan MTT assay terhadap sel makrofag RAW 264,7. Kadar total fenol tertinggi terdapat pada ekstrak etanol 96% sebesar 210,229 mg GAE/g. Kadar total flavonoid tertinggi pada ekstrak etil asetat dengan nilai sebesar 63,138 mgQE/g. Aktivitas antioksidan kuersetin didapatkan 13600 FeEAC (mol/g), sedangkan pada sampel uji aktivitas antioksidan potensial pada ekstrak etanol 96% dengan nilai 2227,926 FeEAC (mol/g). Sementara nilai IC50 untuk ekstrak etil asetat ranting Tetracera indica adalah 23.877 µg/mL. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh tanaman Tetracera indica bisa dikembangkan sebagai agen antioksidan dan antikanker

Abstract

Lipoxygenase is an enzyme that catalyzes the formation of leukotriene, which is involved in various diseases  such as asthma, osteoporosis and atherosclerosis. Inhibition of this enzyme can overcome inflammatory diseases. Tetracera  macrophylla Wall.ex Hook. f.& Thoms plant has shown various biological activities, especially as an anti-inflammatory. This study  aims to analyze phytochemical constituents and evaluate the lipoxygenase activity of Tetracera macrophylla twig extract. The  sample was gradually macerated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. Phytochemical analysis of the extract was carried  out using the LC-MS/MS method. Lipoxygenase assay was performed in vitro using RAW 264.7 macrophage cells induced with  lipopolysaccharide using spectrofluorometry. As a comparison, zileuton, which has been established as a 5-LOX inhibitor and  quercetin, which has the potential as a 5-LOX inhibitor. The results showed that methanol extract of Tetracera macrophylla twigs (RM3) had lower specific LOX activity (0.350 mU/mL) than standard zileuton (7.927 mU/mL) and quercetin (12.837 mU/mL).  Decreased LOX activity can lessen the generation of leukotrienes, which cause inflammation. The study showed that methanol extract of Tetracera macrophylla twigs contains active compounds that can be developed as lipoxygenase inhibitors

Abstract

Dengue fever has become one of the endemic diseases in the Sukmajaya area of Depok. This disease can claim the lives of up to 10% of those affected. Community empowerment, particularly through the empowerment of PKK groups. This community service aims to increase the community's ability to prevent the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito through empowering the PKK group community. It can prevent the spread of mosquitoes by introducing natural materials as mosquito repellents and creating lotion and spray products as alternative solutions. The program involves training and assistance in producing lotions and sprays using natural ingredients. Using essential oils as raw materials, along with marketing techniques, can be a solution to address this issue. The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Science (FFS) UHAMKA and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UHAMKA provided comprehensive training and guidance in the pharmacy skills program. Participants were instructed on creating lotion and mosquito repellent spray formulations using natural ingredients, including orange leaf extract, orange oil, lavender oil, and clove oil. The training consisted of lectures followed by a hands-on workshop on entrepreneurship, focusing on the importance of selecting appropriate packaging and promoting the products effectively. Participants are very enthusiastic about acquiring this skill because it enhances the capabilities of PKK administrators in utilizing natural materials in forms that will later boost the spirit of entrepreneurship and help prevent dengue fever.
