Abstract

Research in the area of herbal neuropharmacological effects has increased markedly over the past decades. This research was aimed to further investigate neuropharmacological properties of Cyperus rotundus rhizomes fraction by measuring hypnotic-siccative and anticonvulsant activities. The exploratory behavior test was performed using Hole Board method while motor coordination was assessed using Rotarod Test. The result showed that the 70% ethanol fraction of Cyperus rotundus rhizome in has significant (p <0,05) neuropharmacological activities. All three fractions tested (ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane), the ethanol fraction showed the best hypnotic-sedative and anticonvulsant activities. Ethanol Cyperus rotundus rhizome fraction could decrease the duration of HLE equal to sodium valproate and potentiated the phenobarbital-induced sleep by decreasing the onset and prolonging the duration of sleep. The highest dose of 70% ethanol fraction of Cyperus rotundus rhizome (356.7 mg/kg) showed the best anxiolytic activity comparable to diazepam (p> 0.05). In conclusion, Teki ladang (Cyperus rotundus) rhizome appeared as potent neuropharmacological drug candidate with abilities comparable to synthetics drugs.

Abstract

Anredera cordifolia [Ten] Steenis has been proven to have pharmacological activity that is thought to be influenced by the presence of phenolic compounds and flavonoids. However, both compounds are found in small concentrations through conventional extraction (maceration, decoction, soxhlet, and reflux). This study aims to prove that the ultrasonic assisted extraction method can obtain higher concentrations of phenolic and flavonoid compounds. Dried binahong leaves were extracted using ultrasonic assisted extraction with 70% ethanol. Phenolic levels were determined using Folin-Ciocalteu, while flavonoid levels were determined using the colorimetric aluminum method. The results showed binahong leaves ethanolic extract had phenolic levels of 10.16 % GAE and flavonoid levels of 10.58 % QE. These results are much higher than the results obtained using conventional extraction so that ultrasonic assisted extraction can be recommended to maximize the extraction of phenolic and flavonoid levels from the leaves of Binahong (Anredera cordifolia [Ten] Steenis).

Abstract

Antidiabetic activity of ciplukan (Physalis angulataL.) herb has a lot to do, as an extracts and infusions, proven to reduce blood sugar levels in rats or mice induced by alloxan. The research objective was to evaluate the antidiabetic effect and identify the content of the chloroform fraction ciplukan herb eluated with methanol-ammonia. Antidiabetic effects testing conducted using 30 male white mice (Mus musculus) ddY strain were divided into 6 groups, each consisting of 5 mice. K-1 is a negative control induced by alloxan, K-2, K-3 and K-4 induced by alloxan and treated with the test substance dose of 50 mg/kg bw/ day, 100 mg/ kg bw/day, 200 mg/kg bw/day, K-5 is a positive control, induced by alloxan and treated with metformin dose of 65 mg/kg bw, K-6 as normal controls. Each mouse blood samples taken on day 7 and day 14, to test their blood sugar levels . Data were ana- lyzed using one-way anova and multiple differences test. Identification of the content of the chloroform fraction eluated with methanol-ammonia , carried out by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results showed that all three doses showed a decrease in blood sugar levels significantly at day 7 , but the decline has not reach normal levels. Blood sugar levels drop significantly and the decline has reached normal occurred on day 14 . Dominant content of the chloroform fraction eluated with methanol-ammonia is a class of unsaturated fatty acid chain length is Hexanoic acid, C16H12O2, hexadecanoic acid methyl ester, C17H34O2, 9-octadecenoic acid methyl ester, C19H36O2, Oleic acid butyl ester, C22H42O2, 9-octadecenoic acid, C19H36O2, Octadecanoic acid, C18H36O2, 1,2-Benzendicarboxylic acid, C8H6O4, and Aplysterylacetate, C31H52O2. Another result is that Nordextromethorphan alkaloid compound, C17H23NO. The conclusion is chloro- form fraction of ciplukan herbhas antidiabetic effects and has a class of compounds content of unsaturated fatty acids, Aplysterylacetate and alkaloid Nordextromethorphan.

Abstract

Ikan tongkol pindang merupakan olahan hasil laut yang memiliki kandungan protein tinggi sehingga ikan tongkol pindang mudah membusuk. Formalin digunakan sebagai pengawet untuk memperpanjang masa penyimpanan ikan tongkol pindang. Penggunaan formalin dapat menyebabkan bahaya bagi kesehatan manusia. Formalin dilarang digunakan sebagai pengawet pangan berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Indonesia Nomor 33 tahun 2012.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengindentifikasi dan mengetahui kadar formalin serta melihat perbedaan penurunan kadar formalin sebelum dan sesudah perebusan pada ikan tongkol pindang dengan waktu 5, 10 dan 15 menit. Identifikasi formalin pada ikan tongkol pindang menggunakan pereaksi KMnO4. Penetapan kadar dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode spektrofotometri. Hasil uji kualitatif didapat 6 (100%) sampel ikan tongkol pindang positif mengandung formalin. Rata-rata penurunan kadar formalin setelah perebusan ikan tongkol pindang dengan lama waktu 5 menit 93,02 %, 10 menit 95,63 % dan 15 menit 97,44 %. Hasil uji One way Anova didapatkan p value 0,000 < 0,05 terjadi penurunan kadar formalin yang signifikan pada ikan tongkol pindang dengan perbedaan lama perebusan. Simpulan semakin lama perebusan maka penurunan kadar formalin ikan tongkol pindang semakin tinggi.Kata kunci : Ikan Tongkol Pindang, Formalin, Spektrofotometri,

Abstract

Luka bakar merupakan respon kulit dan jaringan subkutan terhadap suhu untuk memperbaiki jaringan akibat luka bakar digunakan pegagan. Herba pegagan mempunyai khasiat untuk memperbaiki jaringan granulasi kulit dan penyembuh luka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian fraksi etil asetat herba pegagan terhadap penyembuhan luka bakar. Hewan uji yang dipakai adalah tikus putih jantan yang dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok I (kontrol normal), kelompok II (kontrol negatif), kelompok III (kontrol positif) dilukai dan diberi povidon iodium, kelompok IV, V dan VI dilukai dan diberi fraksi etil asetat ekstrak etanol herba pegagan 0,37%, 0,93% dan 1,49%. Punggung tikus diinduksi dengan logam panas dengan suhu 105oC. Pengamatan dilakukan 2 hari sekali selama 14 hari. Data yang didapat diuji secara statistik dengan uji ANOVA dua arah yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Tukey. Hasilnya adalah kelompok konsentrasi 0,93% dan konsentrasi 1,49% memiliki khasiat setara dengan kelompok kontrol positif.
