Abstract

Male betta fish have high commercial value as they are highly favored by many people. Efforts to increase the number of male fish can be carried out through masculinization. This research used a quantitative approach with an experimental method, employing a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and three replications. The highest percentage of male betta fish was obtained in treatment P3, reaching 63.77%, while the lowest percentage was found in the negative control (K-), at 38.75%. Masculinization of betta fish through immersion in Eurycoma longifolia root extract resulted in the highest percentage of male fish when soaked for 8 hours, increasing the sex ratio by 25.02% compared to the untreated control (negative control). Meanwhile, the percentage difference between soaking in Eurycoma longifolia root extract for 8 hours at a concentration of 20 mg/L and administering 17alpha-methyltestosterone for 4 hours at a concentration of 2 mg/L (positive control) was 6.38%. The immersion method with different durations had a significant effect on the percentage of male betta fish. The best soaking duration was found in treatment P1, with a soaking time of 2 hours, resulting in the highest betta fish survival rate of 85% and a male percentage of 62.66%.

Abstract

Soursop leaf tea is a health drink that contains steroid compounds, terpenoids, flavonoids, kumari, tannins, and alkaloids. The flavonoids and tannins in soursop leaves act as antioxidants. Since it has an unpleasant aroma, cinnamon is added to add scent and flavor. This study aimed to determine the effect of cinnamon powder on the soursop leaf tea's antioxidant activity. This study employed the completely randomized design method (CRD) with two factors: the soursop leaves and cinnamon powder concentrations. This study consisted of four treatments, namely SP0 (100% soursop leaves), SP1 (90% soursop leaves and 10% cinnamon powder), SP2 (80% soursop leaves and 20% cinnamon powder), and SP3 (70% soursop leaves and 30% cinnamon powder) within three repetitions. The proximate test was focused on antioxidant activity analyzed by ANOVA at α = 5%. The organoleptic test covered the color, taste, aroma, and other overall preferences by qualitative descriptive tests. The results showed that the highest antioxidant (29.19%) could be found in the SP3 sample (70% soursop leaves and 30% cinnamon powder), while the preferred organoleptic test was the SP2 sample.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the anti-diabetic effectiveness of the ethanol extract of pacing rhizome (Costus speciosus) on the sexual behavior of male mice (Mus musculus) induced by alloxan. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 5 treatment groups with 5 replications each. Group KI (not given any treatment), group KII (given alloxan, without treatment), group KIII (without alloxan but given treatment), group PI (given alloxan and ethanol extract of pacing rhizome at a dose of 20 mg/30 gram BW/ days), PII group (given alloxan and ethanol extract of pacing rhizome at a dose of 30 mg/30 gram BW/day). Alloxan was given once and pacing rhizome extract was given every day for 14 days. Parameters observed were body weight of mice, blood glucose levels, sexual behavior of mice (number of approaches, number of rides, and number of mating). Observational data were analyzed by One-way ANOVA and followed by LSD at 5% level. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk untuk mengetahui efektivitas anti diabetes ekstrak etanol rimpang pacing (Costus speciosus) terhadap tingkah laku seksual mencit jantan (Mus musculus) yang diinduksi aloksan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 kelompok perlakuan dengan masing- masing 5 ulangan. Kelompok KI (tidak diberi perlakuan apapun), kelompok KII (diberi aloksan, tanpa diberi perlakuan), kelompok KIII (tanpa diberi aloksan tetapi diberi perlakuan), kelompok PI (diberi aloksan dan ekstrak etanol rimpang pacing dengan dosis 20 mg/30 gram BB/hari), kelompok PII (diberi aloksan dan ekstrak etanol rimpang pacing dengan dosis 30 mg/30 gram BB/hari). Aloksan diberikan satu kali dan ekstrak rimpang pacing diberikan setiap hari selama 14 hari. Parameter yang diamati adalah berat badan mencit, kadar glukosa darah, tingkah laku seksual mencit (jumlah pendekatan, jumlah penunggangan, dan jumlah kawin). Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis dengan One-way ANOVA dan dilanjutkan LSD pada taraf 5%)

Abstract

Alcohol is an organic compound that contains a hydroxyl functional group and is often consumed in the form of drinks by some people. Alcoholic beverages cause many health problems, one of which is liver damage. The bidara plant is one of the herbal plants that can cure various diseases because there are compounds, one of which is phenolics. The problem that arises now is what is the effect of Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus mauritinia) on the Histopathology of the Liver of Mice (Mus musculus) treated with alcohol? The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus mauritnia) on the Histopathology of the Liver of Mice (Mus musculus) treated with alcohol. The research method used in this research is experimental post-test only group design research with a completely randomized design (CRD) with data collection techniques in the form of observation and documentation as well as data analysis techniques are continued normality test and homogeneity test followed by One test. Way ANOVA. This study used a dose of 70% alcohol with 1 ml/day and Bidara Leaf Extract 100 mg/kg BW, 150 mg/kg BW and 200 mg/kg BW with a dose of 0.5 ml/day/head for 14 days. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, there is an effect of Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus maurinitia) on the Histopathology of the Liver of Mice (Mus musculus) given alcohol. This can be seen from the damage caused by alcohol, namely inflammation, necrosis and congestion, which improved when the Bidara Leaf Extract (Ziziphus mauritnia) was given. This means that the research that has been done can answer all the problem formulations that have been Determined. AbstrakAlkohol merupakan senyawa organik yang mengandung gugus fungsi hidroksil dan sering dikonsumsi dalam bentuk minuman oleh sebagian orang. Minuman beralkohol menimbulkan banyak masalah kesehatan, salah satunya adalah kerusakan hati. Tanaman bidara merupakan salah satu tanaman herbal yang dapat menyembuhkan berbagai penyakit karena mengandung senyawa salah satunya adalah fenolat. Permasalahan yang muncul sekarang adalah bagaimana pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus mauritinia) terhadap Histopatologi Hati Mencit (Mus musculus) yang diberi alkohol? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus mauritnia) terhadap Histopatologi Hati Mencit (Mus musculus) yang diberi alkohol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen post-test only group design research dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan dokumentasi serta teknik analisis data yaitu uji normalitas lanjutan dan uji homogenitas dilanjutkan dengan Satu tes. Cara ANOVA. Penelitian ini menggunakan alkohol 70% dosis 1 ml/hari dan Ekstrak Daun Bidara 100 mg/kg BB, 150 mg/kg BB dan 200 mg/kg BB dengan dosis 0,5 ml/hari/ekor selama 14 hari. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, terdapat pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus maurinitia) terhadap Histopatologi Hati Mencit (Mus musculus) yang diberi alkohol. Hal ini terlihat dari kerusakan akibat alkohol yaitu inflamasi, nekrosis dan kongesti yang membaik saat diberikan Ekstrak Daun Bidara (Ziziphus mauritnia). Artinya penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat menjawab semua rumusan masalah yang telah ditentukan.

Abstract

Consumption of fish farming activities is hampered by one of the main obstacles, namely the increase in the price of commercial rations, while the ration needs themselves can reach 50-70% of operational costs. Therefore, efforts are needed to develop alternative rations that can be obtained naturally and are available in the long term. The aquatic plant Wolffia arrhiza is thought to be substituted in livestock rations. This study aimed to determine of Wolffia (Wolffia arrhiza) formulation and PF 500 commercial ration on the growth of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). This type of research is quantitative with a completely randomized design consisting of 5 treatments and 3 repetitions. Research parameters include; weight, length, FCR, SGR, temperature, and pH. This study showed that the use of fresh Wolffia as a ration for tilapia gave a good effect. Fresh Wolffia formulations and commercial rations PF 500 showed the best growth results in P3 treatment with 20% fresh Wolffia and 80% commercial rationsAbstrakKegiatan budidaya ikan konsumsi terhambat oleh salah satu kendala utama yaitu naiknya harga ransum komersial, sedangkan kebutuhan ransum sendiri bisa mencapai 50-70% dari biaya operasional. Oleh karena itu diperlukan upaya pengembangan ransum alternatif yang bisa diperoleh secara alami serta tersedia dalam jangka panjang. Tanaman air Wolffia arrhiza diduga bisa disubtitusikan dalam ransum ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengetahui formulasi wolffia (Wolffia arrhiza) dan ransum komersial PF 500 pada pertumbuhan ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus). Jenis penilitian ini kuantitatif dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali pengulangan. Parameter penelitian meliputi; berat, panjang, FCR, SGR, suhu, dan pH. Penelitian ini menunjukan penggunaan wolffia segar sebagai ransum ikan nila memberikan pengaruh yang baik. Formulasi wolffia segar dan ransum komersial PF 500 menunjukan hasil pertumbuhan paling baik pada perlakuan P3 dengan perlakuan 20% wolffia segar dan 80% ransum komersial

Abstract

Male betta fish have high commercial value, making it more effective and profitable if only males are produced and reared. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Tribulus terrestris fruit on the masculinization of betta fish (Betta splendens) using an immersion method. This research is quantitative. The population in this study consisted of the entire larval population of betta fish. A sample of 300 seven-day-old betta fish larvae was taken from this population and divided into 5 containers, each containing 20 larvae. The sampling technique used was Probability Sampling. Data collection was conducted with 5 treatments, each with 3 repetitions. The data obtained were tested using a One Way ANOVA or analysis of variance with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the average data obtained from each treatment group differed significantly. The best dosage concentration in this study was treatment P2 with a concentration of 2 mg/L, resulting in the highest percentage of male betta fish at 84.49%.AbstrakIkan cupang jantan memiliki nilai komersial tinggi, sehingga akan lebih efektif dan menguntungkan bila hanya diproduksi dan dipelihara jenis jantan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh buah tumbuhan rujak polo (Tribulus terrestris) terhadap maskulinisasi ikan cupang (Betta splendens) dengan metode perendaman. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah keseluruhan larva ikan cupang. Dari populasi tersebut diambil sampel 300 ekor larva ikan cupang berumur 7 hari, dan dibagi dalam 5 wadah setiap wadah berisi 20 ekor larva ikan cupang. Tehnik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu probability sampling. Pengambilan data sampel penelitian dilakukan sebanyak 5 perlakuan dengan 3 kali pengulangan. Data dianalisis mengunakan Uji One Way Anova dengan uji BNT dengan tingkat kepercayaan95%. Hasil penelitian bahwa maskulinisasi ikan cupang (Betta splendens) menggunakan buah rujak polo (Tribulus terrestris) melalui metode perendaman dengan dosis yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap persentase ikan cupang.  Konsentrasi dosis terbaik yang dapat digunakan dalam maskulinisasi ikan cupang adalah pada perlakuan P2 yaitu sebanyak 2mg/L yang menghasilkan persentase ikan cupang jantan tertinggi yaitu sebesar 84,49%.

Abstract

Jatropha multifida L. has been used as a traditional remedy for fresh wounds. Its bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins, are known for their potential to accelerate wound healing. Research on medicinal plants continues to advance in order to develop more practical pharmaceutical formulations. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Jatropha multifida L. leaf extract gel on incision wound healing in Mus musculus and to identify the optimal concentration. A laboratory experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design was used, consisting of five treatments: negative control (no gel), positive control (Bioplacenton), and extract gel concentrations of 15%, 30%, and 45%, each replicated three times using 15 male mice. Daily observations over 25 days included measurements of wound length, redness, scab formation and detachment, and overall wound closure. Data were analyzed using ANOVA to determine differences among treatment groups. One-way ANOVA results showed a significance value of < 0.05, indicating a meaningful effect on wound reduction. The 45% gel concentration demonstrated the highest effectiveness in promoting wound healing. This outcome is linked to the flavonoid content of Jatropha multifida, which supports vasodilation, collagen synthesis, and the strengthening of collagen fibers during the healing process.
