A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF ENGLISH WORDS INTERFERENCE USED IN “JAWA POS” NEWSPAPER PUBLISHED ON MARCH 2018 Sinta Wahyu Lestari; Wahyu Kyestiati Sumarno

Newspapers are a medium of written informations which are published every day. There is a newspaper that has been famous especially in Java that is “Jawa Pos” newspaper. “Jawa Pos” newspaper is written in Indonesian, but in presenting the information or news, sometimes the author add or insert some English words to emphasize the reader about the information to be conveyed. This style is called interference in Sociolinguistics. Considering that statement, this study wants to analyze the types of interference found in “Jawa Pos” and analyze the reasons of those interference usage. This study uses descriptive qualitative method in conducting the research. The data sources for this research are 4 edition of “Jawa Pos” newspaper, which were from 8th until 11th March 2018. The first findings of this research was 147 interferences were occured in the data sources. The result then were divided into four categories. They were 97 interferences of noun, 34 interferences of verb, 15 interferences of adjective and 1 interference of adverb. The second findings, there were 101 interference occured with prestige feeling motive as the reason, and 46 interferences were caused by need feeling motive. Based on this research, for the newspaper author the researcher wants to suggest that by using another language such as English we can increase our vocabulary in English. Futhermore, for the other researcher interference are still open to be studied because this study only focus on analysis of interference in the form of word. Meanwhile, a study of interference which focus on phrase or clause still interested to be studied.

ABSTRACTWriting skills and digital literacy are still important skills needed today. However, often the lack of these two skills is still found. Therefore, the handling of the low level of these two skills needs to be addressed immediately. M-Write is a digital application that facilitates the writing process for beginners by involving students' metacognition skills and a process-genre-oriented writing approach with the help of problematized scaffolding that can be accessed via websites or smartphones. The purpose of this training activity for using the M-Write application is as an effort to improve students' writing skills and digital literacy at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Pucuk. The methods used include discussion and equality of perceptions, preparation and reproduction of training modules, preparation of assessment instruments, training and assistance in the use of practice-based M-Write applications, and report preparation. This training was attended by 41 students in 7th and 8th grades. The results show that the use of the M-Write application provides a good change for students in improving their writing and digital literacy skills. The use of the M-Write application is expected to continue to be used by schools to support learning that applies writing learning, such as Indonesian and English lessons. Namun seringkali rendahnya kedua kemampuan dan keterampilan ini masih banyak ditemukan. Oleh karena itu, penanganan akan rendahnya kedua kemampuan dan keterampilan ini perlu untuk segera ditangani. M-Write merupakan salah satu aplikasi digital yang memfasilitasi proses menulis bagi pemula dengan melibatkan kemampuan metakognisi siswa dan pendekatan process-genre-oriented writing berbantuan problematized scaffolding yang dapat diakses melalui website maupun smartphone. Tujuan kegiatan pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi M-Write ini adalah sebagai upaya meningkatkan kemampuan menulis dan literasi digital siswa di SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Pucuk. Metode yang digunakan meliputi diskusi dan penyamaan presepsi, penyusunan dan perbanyakan modul pelatihan, penyusunan instrumen penilaian, pelatihan dan pendampingan penggunaan aplikasi M-Write berbasis praktik, dan penyusunan laporan. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 41 siswa kelas 7 dan kelas 8. Hasil pelatihan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi M-Write memberikan perubahan yang yang baik kepada siswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis dan literasi digital mereka. Penggunaan aplikasi M-Write ini diharapkan dapat dilanjutkan untuk digunakan oleh sekolah untuk menunjang pembelajaran-pembelajaran yang menerapkan pembelajaran menulis, seperti pelajaran bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris. Digital literacy is one of the important literacies that needs to be developed at schools, both by teachers and students. Teachers’ low mastery of digital literacy will certainly hinder the students’ achievements during the teaching and learning process. Therefore, it is important for teachers to actively participate in updating themselves on digital developments, including the use of making interactive learning videos. The purpose of this program is to strengthen the digital literacy of teachers through interactive learning videos making training using the Kinemaster application. The methods used in this training were training and mentoring, assignments, and workshop results. It was previously confirmed that prior to this training, the trainee teachers had never known and used the Kinemaster application to make learning videos. The result of this activity is that 85% of teachers have understood and are able to use the Kinemaster application to make interactive learning videos. From the workshop, as many as 75% of teachers were able to complete the making of simple learning videos properly and on time.

Literacy and numeracy skills are the minimum competencies that students need to learn. However, many studies show that the literacy and numeracy level of students in Indonesia is still very low, including English literacy. TOY APP is an Android-based application designed as an independent learning tool. It tries to make the learning process becomes easier and more fun. It facilitates literacy practices in Bahasa Indonesia, English, as well as numeracy for elementary school students. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the TOY App application based on the student’s responses. This study is research and development research that followed the Thiagarajan development procedures. The subjects of this study were 10 elementary school students. Data collection techniques were carried out with an interview-based questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that this application received a very good response from the students seen from the elements of easiness, functionality, appearance, and whether it increases curiosity. This means that the application has been developed is ready to be used as a means of an independent learning tool to increase the literacy and numeracy levels of students.

Trenggalek is one of the regencies in East Java that is intensively developing tourist villages. By 2022, 35 tourist villages have been successfully built. With the existence of tourist villages with various potentials, supporting factors are needed from not only the government but also the wider community, one of which is the participation of the community as tour guides. A tour guide must master various abilities; communication skills, language skills, and the ability to know a lot about tourist attractions. One of the vital things that must be mastered by a tour guide is the ability to speak and write English as an international language. A tour guide is expected to be able to use English well, fluently, and effectively in carrying out his duties to guide tourists who come. That is why it is necessary to map the level of English proficiency of the tour guides in tourist villages. Thus, this study focused on analyzing the English levels of tour guides in two skills; speaking and writing. The result revealed that tour guides in Trenggalek have a varied range of English speaking and writing levels, from basic to intermediate. It is hoped that later with the mapping of the English level of the tour guides, English teachers and researchers in similar fields will be able to better prepare teaching materials and training programs that are suitable to the needs of the tour guides

Digital literacy is one of the most needed 21st century skills. The effectiveness of integrating the use of technology in project-based learning has proven to be effective in increasing digital literacy skills. Toy App is an Android-based application designed as a medium for learning basic literacy and numeracy. The purpose of this community service activity is to implement the Toy App application and project-based teaching modules to increase digital literacy in students. This activity was carried out for students at SD Negeri 1 Padenganploso, Pucuk District, Lamongan Regency. The results of this activity show that the implementation of the Toy App and project-based teaching modules has a positive impact on increasing digital literacy in students. In addition, the learning process is also more fun. Based on these results, the application of the Toy App application and project-based teaching modules can be used as an alternative in supporting digital literacy in elementary school students.

The preparedness of educators to teach foundational skills such as literacy and numeracy is critical for student success, especially in the early years of education. This literature review explores the current body of research on teacher readiness to instruct in these essential areas. Methodologically, the review synthesizes empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, and best practices published in peer-reviewed journals, reports, and educational white papers. Key findings reveal that teacher readiness is influenced by multiple factors including educational background, professional development, access to resources, and pedagogical support. The review also identifies gaps in the existing literature, particularly in the context of digital transitions and inclusive education. The insights gained from this study could guide future research and inform policy interventions aimed at enhancing teacher readiness for effective literacy and numeracy instruction.

This study aims to examine research on learning innovations that have been carried out by schools in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in the first year in realizing the profile of Pancasila students. The method used in this study is a literature review of scientific journals that have been published on relevant topics. The results of this study provide various learning innovations that have been carried out by various schools that can inspire other schools to realize the Pancasila student profile. It is hoped that this research will provide insight into innovations that need to be carried out for further research.
