Abstract

One method used in the multiple linear regression model is the best subset using Cp Mallows statistics. The best subset begins by combining independent variables to describe the dependent variable. Select a combination with a high coefficient of determination and a low Cp value. The purpose of this study was to apply the best subset method of Cp Mallows statistics to obtain multiple linear regression models of factors that affect life expectancy. This survey was a secondary data survey using data from Health Profiles published in 2016 in East Java. Data from 38 cities with dependent variables were life expectancy and independent variables such as diarrhea prevalence, dengue prevalence, healthy homes, clean and healthy living behavior, and average school hours. The results showed that the coefficient of determination was 69.7% and the Cp value was 3.9 for the three combinations of diarrhea prevalence, healthy family, and average school hours.  Keywords: life expectancy; subset best method; regression; Cp Mallows

Abstract

Leprosy caused by Mycobacterium leprae is still a health problem in Indonesia. The incidence of leprosy in every regency/city in East Java Province indicates a spatial dependence. This study aims to describe the pattern of leprosy incidence and identify factors that influence the incidence of leprosy in East Java Province. This study used secondary data published by East Java Provincial Health Office and East Java Central Statistics Agency in 2018. The observation units in this study are 38 regencies/cities in East Java Province. The analytical method used is Spatial Autoregressive Model (SAR) which is a spatial approach based on area. Based on the results of analysis show that Moran's index value = 0.250 (p = 0.018) which means indicating a spatial dependency. The mean years' schools (p = 0.001) and the male population (p = 0.006) had a significant effect on the incidence of leprosy. Meanwhile, the percentage of healthy housing coverage (p = 0.111) and population density (p = 0.055) did not affect the incidence of leprosy. The spread pattern of leprosy in East Java Province is clustered in adjacent areas and factors that affect the incidence of leprosy are the mean years' schools and the male population.

Abstract

Abstract

One of the error conditions that are required to be met is the absence of autocorrelation problems. Autocorrelation is a correlation of errors between observations, the existence of an error correlation between observations will cause deviations from the actual statistical value. One of the statistical methods for overcoming autocorrelation is the Prais Winsten method. This study aims to explain the Prais Winsten method in overcoming the problem of autocorrelation on factors that affect the life expectancy of East Java Province in 2018. This research is a secondary data analysis, data obtained from the East Java Province's health profile in 2018 with the dependent variable, namely life expectancy, and independent variables, namely prevalence of diarrhea, clean and healthy living behavior, and mean years of school. The results of this research indicated the finding of autocorrelation problems in the factors that affected the life expectancy of East Java Province in 2018. Improvements with the Prais Winsten method showed that the Durbin Watson value was at the critical point limit, Mean Square Error and coefficient of determination (R2) value was decreasing. This research concludes that the Prais Winsten method can overcome autocorrelation.

Abstract

Abstract

Elevated maternal mortality rates underscore the limited effectiveness of maternal health improvement efforts to date. In East Java Province, data from 2020 revealed more maternal deaths than the previous year. This increase was partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited antenatal care visits and made it harder to monitor high-risk pregnancies. This study set out to find the factors that influence maternal mortality in East Java. Researchers used district and city-level data from the 2020 East Java Provincial Health Report and analyzed it as secondary data. They applied Poisson regression analysis, and because the data showed overdispersion, they also used the Generalized Poisson Regression (GPR) model. The main variable studied was the number of maternal deaths (Y), while the independent variables were The availability ratio of healthcare workers (X₁), The rate of complications during obstetric care (X₂), and The availability of health centers (X₃). The results showed overdispersion in the maternal mortality data. Results from the Poisson regression model indicated that every independent variable significantly influenced maternal deaths. In the GPR model, only The availability ratio of healthcare workers (p=0.001) and The rate of complications during obstetric care (p=0.018) were statistically significant. The study determines that the Generalized Poisson Regression model is better for examining maternal mortality factors in East Java, as it fits the data more accurately, as shown by a lower AIC value.

Abstract

The role of mothers is very strategic in preventing stunting through fulfilling nutritional needs during pregnancy, providing exclusive breastfeeding, implementing balanced nutritional complementary feeding (MP-ASI), and regularly monitoring child growth and development. Mothers also play a role in maintaining environmental cleanliness, accessing basic health services (ANC, immunization, iron supplementation), and implementing responsive parenting practices. Objective: This Community Service Program aims to improve mother’s knowledge in preventing and managing stunting through nutrition education, growth and development monitoring. Methods: The methods used in this program included screening, lectures, and discussions, with sequential stages consisting of field observation and problem identification, proposing solutions, activity planning, implementation, and evaluation. Activities were carried out through interactive counseling sessions, demonstrations of growth monitoring, and screening or detection of child growth status. Results: The results showed a significant increase in mothers’ knowledge. The proportion of mothers with knowledge increased from 30% to 90% after receiving the educational intervention. Conclusion: The educational activities implemented were proven effective in strengthening mothers’ capacity in stunting prevention and have the potential to reduce stunting risk at the household and community levels. Structured and targeted education needs to be continuously enhanced as part of strategies to accelerate stunting prevention.
