Abstract

ABSTRACTDefault relating to the regularity of treatment in the patients taking the drugs. If the leprosy patients taking medication irregularly, then the leprosy bacteria can become resistant or immune to Multy Drug Therapy, so the symptoms persist and even worsen. The purpose of this study was to determine the indicators and develop a predictive index formula default incidence of leprosy treatment. This type of research was a case control design. The sample size in this study was 62 respondents. The sampling technique in this study used simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques done with interviews with the questionnaire. The results showed that a candidate indicator variables (p <0.25) is income (p value = 0.013), access to health care (p value = 0.022), the role of health workers (p value = 0.032), knowledge (p value = 0.001), and family support (p value = 0.023), perception of the disease (p value = 0.098), leprosy reactions (p value = 0.198). Variables as indicators of default treatment of leprosy patients are the role of health workers, family support, knowledge, and income. The predictive index of default treatment at multibacillary leprosy patients are (-1666+ 1451 * Revenues (low) + 1989 * Role of Health Personnel (less instrumental) + 1.338 * Knowledge (less) + 1543 * Support Family (unfavorable). This index has a 79% accuracy rate. This index is expected to be used as a measuring tool in helping health workers to screen patients with leprosy who are undergoing treatment, so early can know where the potential patients defaulting treatment. Keywords: indicators, predictive index, default of treatment, leprosy, multibacillary

Abstract

Prevalence and mortality due to low birth weight (LBW) is still get a mark in Kupang. The multifactorial causes of LBW, can be grouped into these factors: physical and social environment, mother, fetus, placenta-umbilical cord, and health services. From maternal factors, there are subfactors of maternal characteristics, knowledge of  pregnancy, maternal health status, and behavior in caring the pregnancy. Maternal behavior may be in the form of obedience in traditional pregnancy care, which may lead to LBW. Most studies on LBW risk factors are related to clinical medical factors. The purpose of this study was to predict the role of fetal health locus of control and obedience in traditional pregnancy care, toward LBW occurrence. This study was an analitic observational with case-control design, included 50 mothers who gave birth to LBW and 50 mothers who gave birth to normal babies, through interviews and tracing of maternal and infant medical records. Research was done in RSUD Prof. DR. W.Z. Johannes, RSIA Dedari and 2 basic emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC) public health center. Data analysis done using SmartPLS 3.2.6. The results of the study proved that obedience to traditional pregnancy care was a mediator of the occurrence of LBW, whereas fetal health locus of control was not. Obedience to traditional pregnancy care in the form of non-standardize antenatal care and continued heavy workload during pregnancy, had been shown to cause LBW. This research also found 2 pathway models of LBW occurence: 1) Mothers characteristic (education level, mothers income, total of family income) influence to LBW occurence through variables: pregnancy knowledge, perceived behavioral control, and obedience to traditional pregnancy care. 2) Maternal characteristics have an effect on the occurence of LBW through obedience to traditional pregnancy care.

Abstract

Nutritious food giving in under-fives to sustain the growth and development of under-fives optimally required the involvement of family members other than fathers. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between family members involvement with the mothers nutrition care pattern of poor families in the Mojokerto regency of East Java. This research design was using case control with case population of poor mother with healthy under-five and control population was poor mother with nutritious problem child. Number of case group samples 79 people and control group 41 people. Sampling technique with multi stage sampling. Data collection using questionnaires that have been tested the validity and reliability to 30 people. Data analysis using chi square statistic test. The results showed that the involvement of other family members in the positive deviance mothers was good as much as 35 people (44.30%). In non-positive mother deviance involvement of most other family members were less than 31 people (75.61%), chi square obtained p = 0,000 and value α = 0,05, meaning there was correlation of family member involvement with care pattern of positive deviance mother. The involvement of family members motivated mothers to provide a good nutritional food to under-five children.

Abstract

Data collection activities have a higher risk of missing data. Missing data may produce biased estimates and standard errors increased, so imputation method is needed. The purpose of this study was to investigate which imputation method is the most appropriate to use for handling missing data. The strategies evaluated include complete case analysis, Multivariate Imputation by Chained Equation (MICE), and Regression Imputation. This study was non-reactive study and used raw data RPJMN 2015 Survey from BKKBN East Java Province. There were three incomplete data sets were generated from a complete raw dataset with 5%, 10%, and 15% missing data. Incomplete data sets were made missing completely at random. Based on Friedman Test, both of imputation methods produced estimates which was no different with complete raw data set. Based on Mean Square Error analysis, MICE provided MSE values less and more stable than Regression Imputation in all scenarios. Conclusion: Multivariate Imputation by Chained Equation (MICE) was the most recommended method to use for handling missing data less than 15%.

Abstract

Acute respiratory infection (ARI) are leading causes of mortality and morbidity in children under the age of five in developing countries. The incidence and prevalence of ARI are a great burden in low and middle-income countries in comparison to high income ARI. The main objective of the study was to identify determinants of acute respiratory infections among child under five years in Surabaya. This is a case-control study conducted in Public Health Center (Puskesmas) in Surabaya. Data were collected by interviewing community with 1: 1 sample that consists of 66 sample of the case and 66 sample of control. Result: 34.1% was age group <24 months, 14.4% was low birth weight, 57.6% was without exclusive breastfeeding, 22.7% was not measles immunization. The determinant of acute respiratory infections among child under five years was exclusive breastfeeding which the significant showed consecutively p=0.582 (OR=4.163). The Community education programs should focus on addressing specific issues to identify the respiratory illness, simple case management, proper immunization practices, breastfeeding of infants.    Keywords: Child under five years, Acute respiratory infections, Determinants

Abstract

The prevalence and death due to low birth weight (LBW) is still high in Kupang. There are multifactorial causes of LBW which can be categorized into: physical and social environment, mother,  fetus, placenta and umbilical cord, and health service. From maternal factors, there are sub-factors of maternal characteristic such as knowledge of pregnancy, maternal health status, and the behavior of pregnancy care. The behavior of pregnancy care can be in the form of a traditional pregnancy care, which may lead to LBW. Most researches on the risk factor of LBW are related to clinical medical factors. This research aimed to determine the socio-demographic and cultural factors which are related to the occurrence of LBW in Kupang. This research used analytic observational method with case-control design, on 50 mothers giving birth to LBW and 50 mothers who delivered normal babies, through interview and tracing  of maternal and infant medical records. To eliminate the clinical factors of medical causes of LBW (anemia, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, and infection), inclusion criterion was applied, as follows: mothers who give birth to normal childbirth, single infants, and have received integrated Antenatal Care (ANC) service. Exclusion criteria were: mothers give birth to twisted umbilical cord, placental weight <500 grams, infant with congenital defect, and incomplete medical records. This research took  place at Prof. DR. W.Z. Johannes Hospital, Dedari Hospital and 2 Public Health Center in Kupang. Data analysis used logistic regression. The final results of logistic regression model of this study founded 5 variables that affect the occurrence of LBW in Kupang, beside the medical clinical factors, such as: maternal age, maternal education, BMI, increase the body weight during pregnancy, and heavy work during pregnancy.
