Abstract

This article explores the intersection of the putrikā provision in Hindu law and the sentana rajeg practice in Balinese customary law through the lens of gender equality in inheritance. Putrikā, as articulated in the Manava Dharmasastra, legitimizes the appointment of daughters as heirs in the absence of sons, preserving both lineage (gotra) and religious duties. Likewise, sentana rajeg enables daughters to assume hereditary roles within Balinese adat, including through nyentana marriages. This study applies a normative legal methodology incorporating conceptual, historical, and statutory approaches. It finds that both legal traditions, despite their patriarchal foundations, contain adaptive mechanisms that acknowledge female inheritance under certain conditions. These mechanisms reflect a legal pragmatism oriented toward maintaining familial and spiritual obligations. From a modern human rights perspective, these customary norms require reinterpretation to align with principles of substantive gender equality. Strengthening women’s inheritance rights not only promotes justice within traditional societies but also reinforces the legitimacy and adaptability of customary law in a globalized context. The article argues for collaborative legal reform involving customary authorities, state institutions, scholars, and civil society to create inclusive, equitable inheritance frameworks that respect both tradition and contemporary gender norms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the immersive learning approach in developing the cognitive abilities of 4-5-year-old children in early childhood education institutions. The background of this research is based on the importance of appropriate stimulation during the golden age period, as well as the continued dominance of teacher-centered learning practices, which do not support optimal cognitive development. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the implementation of the immersive learning approach was carried out through active, contextual, and experience-based learning activities, such as educational games, exploration, and simple project-based activities. The teacher acted as a facilitator, providing stimulation through open-ended questions to encourage children's thinking processes. Furthermore, observations showed an increase in children's cognitive abilities, characterized by the ability to observe, classify, compare, and solve simple problems. Thus, the immersive learning approach has proven effective in improving the cognitive abilities of 4-5-year-old children through a meaningful, active learning process that is appropriate to the developmental characteristics of early childhood.

Abstract

Balinese on social media reflects an important linguistic development because it functions not only as a means of communication, but also as a space for cultural expression in the digital era. Although speech act studies have been widely conducted, research on Balinese speech act forms in TikTok  video texts remains limited. This study aims to describe and analyze speech act forms in Balinese TikTok  video texts created by @madewangi. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using five purposively selected TikTok  videos as the data source. Data were collected through observation, note-taking, transcription, and translation, and were then analyzed pragmatically by examining the relationship between utterance forms and their communicative functions. The results show that, out of 49 analyzed utterances, 35 were direct speech acts and 14 were indirect speech acts. The dominance of direct speech acts indicates that communication in Balinese TikTok  videos tends to emphasize clarity of meaning so that it can be easily understood by viewers, while indirect speech acts appear as strategies of politeness, satire, or implicit intention. This study contributes to pragmatic studies by showing how Balinese is used in digital media as a linguistic practice that continues to carry social and cultural dimensions.
