The purpose of this study is to investigate the improvement of the student’s achievement in speaking by listening practice for Broadcasting and Public Speaking class at Bina Sarana Informatika University. These classes got English subject at even semester. They learnt to focusing on speaking, that’s why the researchers help the students to achieve their performance in speaking skill. By using listening practice through audio and video, the researchers hope that they will improve their speaking. The method that has been used by this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) where the researchers as well as the teachers involved in the class that they are observing. Data were taken by sample of 20 students from each class. Technique for collecting data was descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Technique for analyzing data was used descriptive which describe the finding of the research which used some tables, frequency which was benefit to describe the achievements of the students in speaking from pre-test, cycle 1, and cycle 2. The finding of the research was the students’ achievement in speaking were good by using listening practice during a semester. The final achievement from Broadcasting got score 6,24 in average and Public Relation class got score 7,06.

The aim of this final paper is to describe the use of English expression and terms used in hotel room reservation activities. As for the background of writing this paper is related to the importance of the use of English expression properly in accordance with standard operating procedure in a company oriented to the theory from experts. The writer uses a description method that begins with research in PT. Raja Kamar Indonesia. From the analysis of the data from this study contains of conversation and descriptions of terminologies in travel agent. The conclusion of this paper is that readers can understand the work activities of a telephone operator in the hotel reservation division. The activity of expression in English that is used is asking inquiry, reservation, amendment, cancellation and refund. In addition, knowledge of the terms in the reservation becomes inseparable from the activity of reservation work. The author hopes this paper can help readers to know more deeply related to science in the field of reservation.

The objective of this research is to find out and analyze the types of conversational implicature and the maxim violation in Beauty and the Beast movie. Beauty and the Beast movie was directed by Bill Condon and released in 2017. The method used to conduct this research is descriptive qualitative method. To analyze the types of conversational implicature and the maxim of violation, the writers retrieved the theory from P.H.Grice. Grice states that there are two types of conversational implicature and there are four maxims in cooperative principles. The result of this research indicates that: (1) There are two types of conversational implicature occured in Beauty and the Beast movie; those are generalized conversational implicature and particularized conversational implicature. The most common types of conversational implicature that occur in Beauty and the Beast movie is generalized conversational implicature, (2) There are four maxim which violated in Beauty and the Beast movie; those are maxim of quality, quantity, relation and manner. The most violated maxim in Beauty and the Beast movie is maxim of quantity.

The purpose of this analysis is to know the personality of a person through a film. the author will discuss about the personality and nature of the main character in the film Jobs directed by Joshua Michael Stern. this paper contains how Steve personality in this movie. What are his personality types and moral values that can be taken and the author uses two relevant theories to analyze this film. The method of analysis is qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected through repeated witnessing and the theory for analysis here was obtained by books from library research and internet media in the form of electronic books. the results of f analysis show that (1) there are five personality data shown in the film (2) are seven data of personality type based on Goldberg's theory of Openness, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Extroversion and Neuroticism (3) moral values can be taken from film, that people can think of it as a lesson. The study of the analysis is useful for understanding the basic personality of each person and how good personality can affect a person's life in the field of work.

In conveying something, the speaker indicates an action. Such measures can facilitate the speaker to make the listener know what the intent or desire of the speaker. This is referred to as a speech act. Speech acts can also be found in the speech of children aged 5 years. In delivering the speech, a person nconsciously produces certain actions that his/her wishes were conveyed through speech can be realized. This study intends to explain the forms of speech acts which are in children aged 5 yearswithin pragmatics study. The writer uses a speech ofthe child as the data of this study. Data collection was carried out either in the form of participation or just listento conversation of the child. The results showed that the form of speech acts which are used by5 years old kid are:directive, assertive, and expressive.The directive illocutionary act is mostly used. It indicates, in conveying meaning and intention, the 5 years old kid is already able to produce the indirect speech act. This shows that their cognitive has developed.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning motivation and vocabulary mastery of the argument text writing skills of students, the influence of learning motivation of the argumentative text writing skills of students, the influence of vocabulary on the argumentative text writing skills of students.This study used survey method. The subjects were all students of class XII in private senior high school in Kabupaten Serang. Data was collected by distributing a questionnaire and giving examination to writing. The data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, coefficient of determination and regression analysis. Statistical test using the T test and F test study was conducted in November 2015 - January 2016.The results showed: (1) there is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery and learning motivation towards writing skills of argumentative English text. This is proven by the Sig = 0.018 < 0.05 and 7.749 Fμ, (2) there is a significant influence on the vocabulary skills of argumentative English text. This is proven by the Sig value by 0.008 < 0.05 and 3.953 tμ, (3) there is a significant influence on the learning motivation towards writing skills of argumentative English text. This is shown by the Sig value 0.004 <0.05 and tμ 5.288.

The objective of this study is to see the effect of grammar and vocabulary mastery on writing in English. The research method used is a survey method with analysis and regression techniques with the assistance of the SPSS 20 program. The research sample examined 47 students from 3 high schools, namely students of class XI at SMK Daarul Hikmah, SMK Miftahul Falah and SMK Daruttaibin which are located at Serang Regency. The data set collection is accumulated by presenting a grammar mastery questionnaire by carrying out a written English proficiency test. From the analysis, result shows: 1) There is a significant effect of mastery of grammar and vocabulary together on the English writing skills of students at SMK in Serang Regency. It is indicated by the acquisition of the Sig. 0.000 <0.05 and FH = 49,615. Along with mastery of grammar and vocabulary contributed 69.3% to the variables written in English. 2) There is a significant effect of language mastery on the English writing skills of students at SMK in Serang Regency. It is proven by the acquisition of the Sig. 0.001 <0.05 and th = 3.616. The grammar mastery variable contributed 12.39% in improving English writing skills. 3) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery on the English writing skills of SMK students in Serang Regency. The acquisition of the Sig. 0,000 <0.05 and th = 6,093 is shown in the data. Vocabulary mastery variable contributed 35.28% in improving written skills in English.

This research is aimed to find the perception of students on the speaking ability in Public Speaking class during pandemic Covid-19. By communicating to students who are from Public Relation majored, the researchers considered that speaking as a tool of communication should be done intensively. Therefore, within this pandemic teachers and students should change their learning methods from offline face to face to online face to face. The authors stated the problems that the students faced, they are perceptions and difficulties of online public speaking learning. A qualitative method had been used to analyze this case. The authors used the percentage of students as respondents to see the perceptions. The result of this research viewed that students disagree with the online Public Speaking Course. This amount consisted of 35,4% of total respondents that possessed in the second rank. While the first rank with the amount of 36,5% stated hesitation whether should be conducted online or offline. Morphology is a sub-branch of linguistics that deals with words and the system related to words. Compounding is one of the word-formations is a morphology phenomenon in which two words are enjoined as one. This research focuses on the process of compound words in the song lyrics of Infinite album by Deep Purple. Qualitative-descriptive research is used to analyze and describe the meaning type of the compound words. The writer uses theories from several experts such as Ingo Plag, Laurie Bauer, Geert Booij, Francis Katamba, Carstairs-McCarthy, and Martin Haspelmath, to analyze the meaning type of compound words. There are 37 identified compounding from the entire album with the various formats, lexical head,s, and meaning type. Endocentric is the most dominant compounding with 31 compoundings (83.78%), and exocentric occurs 6 times (16.22%).

The research aims to determine how teaching media and vocabulary mastery affects students'speaking skills at SMAN Kabupaten Cirebon. The population of this research was all students atSMA Negeri in Kabupaten Cirebon, speaking skills as part of English. The sample of thisresearch is taken based on the multiple-stage method with similar characteristics andprobability. In this research, the writer randomly takes the ten great students at SMA Negeri inKabupaten Cirebon into the sample; one experiment group and one control group. In thisresearch, there are two kinds of instruments: one is to measure the student's speaking skill, andthe other is to determine the student's learning styles. Data analysis used SPSS version 20, with asignificant level of = 0.05. The requirement analysis uses a normality test, homogeneity test, andtwo-way ANOVA. There is a significant interaction effect of teaching media and vocabularymastery on students' speaking skills. The value of Fo = 5.225 proves that, and Sig = 0.025<0.05. There is a significant effect of teaching media on students' speaking skills. That is provedby Fo = 13.822 and sig = 0.000 < 0.05. There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery onstudents' speaking skills. That is proved by Fo = 36.140 and Sig. 0.000 > 0.05.
