Abstract

Macrozoobenthos is a living organism attached to the bottom of the water or on the surface of the bottom waters. This study aims to determine the level of macrozoobenthos diversity and water quality based The biodiversity Index This study was conducted in May-June 2015 by using purposive sampling method in five different locations of community activities. The research showed 20 species belonging to the 17 families, 4 orders, and 2 classes. The highest density on the station I found the Anadara cornea species of 171.43 ind/m2, the station II on the Anadara cornea species of 304.76 ind/m2, the station III on the species of Murex trapa amounted to 266.67 ind/m2, the station IV in species Volema Myristica and Anadara cornea of 190.48 ind/m2, the station V on the species Monodonta canalifera of 152.38 ind/m2. The highest diversity index of 2.88 at the station I classified in the level of diversity rate as medium and the lowest at station IV of 2.70 were classified in the level of diversity rate as medium. Uniformity index ranged from 0.92 to 0.96 with the uniformity of species category is relatively evenly distributed. Based on the diversity index is known that the estuarine waters of the Coral Ivory wildlife reserve in the category of medium polluted.Keywords :Macrozoobenthos, Diversity, Pollution Level.

Abstract

Percut Sei Tuan Estuary has 3,820 meters length, is influenced by the tide and the shipping line and tourist activity. Macrozoobenthos diversity and the measurement of physical and chemical factors is one of the parameters used to determine changes in water quality in the estuary Percut Sei Tuan. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical and chemical waters in relation to water quality standards under PP No. 82 of 2001 with Storet method as well as the density and macrozoobenthos diversity. This research was conducted over two months, from March until April 2016 Percut Sei Tuan estuary District of Deli Serdang North Sumatera province. Percut Sei Tuan Estuary is categorized at third class water classificatized that can be used for water recreation facilities, fishing ponds and water tourism and for irrigation. Pollution level belongs to the class C is lightly polluted accordance with Method Storet. Values Index Diversity (H') macrozoobenthos obtained at each research station : station 1 is 1,375, station 2 is 1,444 station 3 is 2,050. These results indicate that the diversity of macrozoobenthos was moderate. Pearson correlation analysis results showed that the temperature, salinity and pH highly correlated, BOD5 classified as moderate, and light penetration is low DO and COD relatively very low correlated.Keywords: Estuaries Percut Sei Tuan, Macrozoobenthos Biodiversity, Water Quality

Abstract

Many activities by human and industry in Bagan Deli Village and along the Deli river could be caused the present of heavy metal in acuatiq environmental and could be harm to aquatic organism. The purpose of researching in to analyze the content of heavy metals Cadmium (Cd) and Plumbum (Pb) on roots, barks, leaves and knowing the ability of A. alba in accumulating heavy metals. The sample was located in Bagan Deli Village, District of Medan Belawan. The analysis of heavy metals Cd dan Pb was carried out in a Balai Riset dan Standarisasi Industri Medan, by using the metod Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The results of this research indicated that the heavy metal content of Pb in the roots, barks, and leaves is larger more than Cd. The result of this research, based on the bioconcentration factor, the ability of A. alba in accumulate heavy metals Cd and Pb categorized low, the average value of BCF Pb was 21,38 and BCF Cd was 3,66. The results of chemical physics parameter in Bagan Deli Village stilled in the normal range. Concentrations of Cadmium (Cd) in the water column at each station in average 0,0013 mg/l and the concentration of lead metal (Pb) in the water column 0,15 mg/l. Concentrations of Cadmium (Cd) in the sediment column at each station in average 0,002 mg/kg and the concentration of lead metal (Pb) in the sediment column 11,38 mg/kg. These results indicated the concentration of heavy metal Cu and Pb in the water column had exceeded the quality standard, while concentrations of Cu and Pb in sediments had not exceeded the quality standard.Keywords : Avicennia alba, Heavy Metal, Cadmium (Cd), Plumbum (Pb), AASPENDAHULUANMeningkatnya industri memberikan dampak

Abstract

Utilization of Mangrove Ecosystem as land conversion resulting decline in the productivity of the mangrove ecosystem. The transition function of the mangrove ecosystem damage and disrupt the microbial life in it. One of which is a Mudskipper. The research aims to determine how the population density of Mudskipper and how the relationship of mangrove density to the population density of Mudskipper. The research was conducted for two months from March to April 2016 at the mangrove ecosystem in the Sembilan Island village. The research used purposive random sampling method. There are three kind of fish can be found in those areas, which are Periophthalmus chrysospilos, Periophthalmus gracilis, and Boleophthalmus boddarti. The results of this research is the highest population density of Mudskipper are found at station III with a value of 7400 Ind/ha and lowest were in station IV with a value of 2600 Ind/ha. The highest density of mangrove are found at station 4 with a value of 4800 Ind/ha and lowest were in station III with a value of 4066 Ind/ha and categorized good. Relationship between the mangrove density and the population density of Mudskipper exhibits a positive correlation with a value of 0,941.Key Words : Identification, Mangrove, Mudskipper, Population Density.

Abstract

Goldfish is commonly found in Indonesia. Pest and disease infected goldfish is being one of the factors to decrease production of the goldfish. The goldfish infected with bacteria was founded in a pond in Patumbak. The study was aim to observe bacteria that might cause fish disease. The isolation of the potensial pathogenic bacteria of goldfish was utilised using the agar spread method. Identification of pathogenic bacteria was done using Vitec 2 compact. Test of water samples was conducted at the Laboratory BTKL Class 1 Medan. Two species were found as potential pathogens in the goldfish, i.e. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterecoccus faecalis. Test of water quality showed that the water quality was still in permitted condition.Keywords: Bacterial pathogens, Goldfish, Pond, Water Quality

Abstract

Mangrove forests existed in Village Belawan Sicanang have been many experienced land conversion as embankment and settlements. These conditions led to degradation in habitat quality. The research aimed to know mangrove species composition and to know mangrove community structure. The research took place in May  June 2016. The method used in the determination of the location is purposive sampling and divided into 3 stations based on different activities. Analysis of mangrove vegetation derived mangrove density, relative density, mangrove frequency, relative frequency, dominance, relative dominance, importance value index, diversity index, and evenness index. The results showed that the composition of mangrove species found eleven species of true mangroves that are Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Bruguiera hainessii, Ceriops tagal, Nypa fruticans, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris, Xylocarpus granatum, Rhizophora apiculata dan Rhizophora mucronata. The mangrove forest located in Village Belawan Sicanang is classified on very tight criteria where mangrove density ≥ 1500 ind/ha, the relative dominance ≥ 75%, and the mangrove community were in stable condition.Keywords : Mangrove, Species Composition, Community Structure

Abstract

Mangrove forest is a plant species whose life is still affected by sea tides. Mangrove forest is also a habitat of aquatic biota. In Kampung Nipah the utilization of Mangrove Forest is utilized as marine tourism. Utilization of mangrove forest that is not environmentally friendly is feared will threaten the preservation of mangrove forest ecosystem. The purpose of this research is to know the composition of mangrove species and mangrove vegetation structure which is currently viewed from Index of Density, Domination, Frequency, Importance Value Index, Diversity Index, and Mangrove Sharpness Index and Mangrove environmental condition in Kampung Nipah at Sei Nagalawan Village. This research was conducted for two months from December 2016 until January 2017. The method used to determine the location of sampling using Purposive Sampling at 3 stations. Abstract

Phytoplankton in aquatic coastal ecosystems play a major role in the food chain. This is because the role of Phytoplankton as producen in the waters of other organisms that can be used include fish. The existence of Phytoplankton in the waters is largely determined by the physicaland chemical condition of the water. Phytoplankton have a certain tolerance limits to environmental parameters so that diversity will be different. The research was conducted from April to May 2016. Samples were taken from three observation stations, at each station observations were made three replications. Sampling point is determined using purposive random sampling method.Total abudance of phytoplankton at station 1 as many as 11.400 cell/l, which consists of 16 genera, abudance of phytoplankton at statiun 2 as many 39.050 cell/l which consists of 10 genera, and abudance of phytoplankton at statiun 3 as many 48.900 cell/l which consists of 18 genera.Pearson correlation analysis phospate, nitrate, DO, and brightness was positibelly correlated with the diversity of phytoplankton while the temperature, pH, and salinity were negatively correlated with the diversity of phytoplankton.Keywords : Phytoplankton, Percut Sei Tuan River, diversity

Abstract

The mangrove litter which has been decomposed contributes organic matter as food source for many species of fish and other organisms in the mangrove ecosystem. This study aims to determine the effect of salinity on the rate of leaf litter decomposition A. marina and to know the nutrient content of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) in the A. marina litter leaf which been released during the decomposition time. This research was done at Hamparan Perak base Deli Serdang sub-district of North Sumatera Province during February until May 2017. The results of the study of leaf litter A. marina at 0-10 ppt salinity level more quickly decomposes. The average weight of the rest of the leaf litter A. marina which decompose at a rate of 0-10 ppt salinity, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt yaitu 1,46 grams, 5,86 grams, dan 6,53 grams.The rate of leaf litter decomposition A. marina at a rate of 0-1 0 ppt salinity, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 28.61, 17.68, and 14.97. Carbon levels of nutrients in the leaf litter A. marina ppt salinity level 0-10, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 18,61%, 18,97%, and 18,58%. Levels of nutrients nitrogen in leaf litter A. marina ppt salinity level 0-10 ppt, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 1,51%, 1,68%, and 1,18% . As well as the levels of the nutrient phosphorus leaf litter A. marina on ppt salinity level 0-10 ppt, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 0,58%, 0,52%, and 0,51% respectively.Keywords :A. marina,decomposition, mangrove leaf litter, nutrients, salinity.

Abstract

Bagan Asahan village is one which is in Asahan Regency, which has the great potential of mangrove ecosystemnand diverse biota that live in it. Macrozoobrnthos is one which is potensial mangrove fishery that have economy value. This study aims to know mangrove diversity and macrozoobenthos abudance. The study held in March until April 2017. The study was conducted using purposive sampling method. Plot size was determined using classification category of seedling (2x2 m2), stake (5x5 m2) and tree (10x10 m2) The highest mangrove diversity for the three categories is located on station I with values of 1.94, 1.83 and 1.62. The highest macrozoobenthos abundance is on station II (18.5 ind/m2) and the lowest is at station III (11,66 ind/m2) meanwhile the macrozoobenthos abundance on station I is 15,41 ind/m2.Keywords : Abundance , Diversity, Makrozoobenthos, Mangrove, Tanjung Balai.
