Abstract

The goal of this research is to find the objective condition from the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and students’ reading comprehension which was observed and analyzed from SMA N 1 Bandar Lampung. Moreover, the purpose of this study is also to get the information and the empirical data about the correlation of students’ vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension. The populations of the research are 178 students and 36 students were being the sample of the research. All of the objects are from the second semester of IPA 5 SMA N 1 Bandar Lampung. This research was using correlation through the application of quantitative methods by collecting the data from the test. According to the result of the analysis and statistical calculation, it is found that rxy is 0.678 and rt is 0.329 and 0,339 with the degree of freedom ( df=N-nr) is 34. By comparing the values of rxy and rt, it means that rxy is bigger than rt and the statistic hypothesis states: If rort significance: there is correlation and Ha accepted. If rort non-signification: there is no correlation and Ha is rejected. The result of the hypothesis is rxy bigger than rt which means the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Based on this finding from this study, it can conclude that having more vocabulary or vocabulary mastery significantly affects the comprehension of the students reading activity. Moreover by having many vocabularies the students’ can easily get the information and fun story written in English which finally in can enrich their knowledge by reading a lot of books.

Abstract

Cette recherche a pour but de savoir l’efficacité du media photo pour augmenter la compétence de la production orale des élèves de la classe X SMK Negeri 3 Bandarlampung. C’est une recherche quasi expérimentale car il n’y a pas de variable de contrôle. Nous avons utilisé le pretest-posttest design comme le design de recherche tandis que les techniques de la collecte de données sont sous forme de pretest, traitement et posttest. Le score moyen de pre-test est 53,92. Cela montre que la compétence de la production orale des éléves est encore relativement basse: il y a seulement 4 élèves, soit 16%, qui obtiennent le score plus de 60. Aprés trois fois de traitements et le posttest, le résultat du posttest indique qu’il y a plus d’élèves qui gagnent le score plus de 60 dont le total est 24, soit 96%. Pour le t-test, la valeur P(sig) est 0,000 0,05 avec le valeur de t-table est 1.70814. Il existe donc des différences significatives entre le résultat d’apprentissage du français du pretest et du posttest. En conclusion, le media photo peut donc augmenter la compétence de la production orale des élèves de la classe XI SMKN 3 Bandarlampung.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bahwa media foto dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Prancis siswa kelas X SMK Negeri 3 Bandarlampung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experimental design, karena tidak adanya variabel kontrol. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest design. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pretest, treatment dan posttest. Hasil rata-rata nilai pretest siswa adalah 53,92. Dari hasil pretest tersebut dapat dilihat bahwa keterampilan berbicara bahasa Prancis siswa masih rendah, hanya 4 siswa (16%) yang mendapat nilai di atas 60. Setelah diberlakukan perlakuan sebanyak tiga kali, siswa yang mencapai nilai di atas 60 mengalami peningkatan menjadi 24 siswa (96%). Untuk uji-t, nilai P (sig) sebesar 0,000 0,05 dengan nilai t-tabel 1.70814, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil belajar bahasa Prancis pada data pretest dan posttest. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media foto mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Prancis siswa X SMK Negeri 3 Bandarlampung.Kata Kunci: bahasa Prancis, keterampilan berbicara, media foto.
