Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The meeting hall building in Tlogosari Wetan Village consists of one floor extending throughout the land that is still surrounded by rice fields and is predominantly constructed with reinforced concrete materials. Based on information, the building has been standing for more than 20 years. Seeing this, the Community Service Team aims to investigate the condition of the structural system and materials of the Village Hall Building. To find out the condition of the structure and building materials, and can be a follow-up for partners to improve and utilize the building. The method used in this investigation is visual observation of structural conditions and non-destructive material testing. The results of the investigation show that a review of the compressive strength characteristics of the concrete in column elements still meets the requirements for earthquake-resistant concrete materials according to SNI 2847 2019.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of coconut husk and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) composition on the mechanical and acoustic properties of lightweight concrete. The research was conducted experimentally using a two-way factorial design with coconut husk variations of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% of cement weight and EPS variations of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% of coarse aggregate volume. A total of 20 mix variations (5 coir levels × 4 EPS levels) were prepared with three replications for each test, resulting in 120 specimens. Compressive strength was tested at 7 days following ASTM C39, while sound absorption was measured at frequencies of 100–2000 Hz based on ISO 10534-2. The results showed that the addition of coconut husk up to 1% improved compressive strength through fibre reinforcement, whereas increasing EPS content enhanced sound absorption due to higher porosity but reduced mechanical strength. Statistical analysis using ANOVA (R² = 0.94, p < 0.05) and desirability optimisation identified the optimal composition at 1% coconut husk and 10% EPS. The developed lightweight concrete is suitable for non-structural building components requiring improved acoustic performance and reduced weight.

Abstract

The construction sector plays a critical role in sustainability through effective construction waste management. In Indonesia, green building practices are guided by the Green Construction Site Index (GCSI) and the Minister of Public Works and Housing Regulation No. 21 of 2021; however, their strategic alignment with Lean Construction principles remains limited. This study examines the strategic integration of Lean Construction into green building regulations by validating regulatory-based indicators using the three Lean Construction pillars: Systems Management, Technology Management, and Culture and Behaviour. A questionnaire survey of construction practitioners was analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The results reveal a robust three-factor structure, accounting for 80.1% of the total variance, with Systems Management as the dominant dimension. The findings provide practical insights for strengthening regulatory coherence, improving waste reduction strategies, and enhancing sustainable performance during the construction phase of building projects.

Abstract

The development of the Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih project in the coastal area of Centra Java faces significant challenges, including land subsidence, tidal flooding, and highly saline environmental conditions that may reduce infrastructure durability. These conditions require competent construction supervision to ensure project quality, schedule, and cost performance. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance the technical and managerial competencies of personnel from the Semarang Fishing Port Center (BBPI) through technical guidance on construction supervision. The program consisted of three stages: dissemination of construction quality management principles, training on field inspection methods and technical administration, and stakeholder coordination to harmonize supervision practices. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments involving 22 participants who completed 18 questions. The results demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge, with the mean score increasing from 59.77 (62.9% of the maximum score) to 81.59 (85.9%), representing a gain of 21.82 points (36.5%). The minimum score increased from 50 to 70, and no participant scored below 70 in the post-test. The training also strengthened participants' shared understanding of quality control, contract administration, field inspection, and the achievement of the project's triple constraints. These findings indicate that the technical guidance effectively improved construction supervision competencies and contributed to more professional, accountable, and sustainable management of coastal infrastructure projects.
