Abstract

The important role of attitude in language learning toward English has been increasingly recognized in developing teaching learning English especially in Speaking. However, only a few studies on the correlation between attitude in language learning and speaking. This study aimed at investigating whether there is a correlation between students’ language learning attitude toward English and students’ Speaking in Indonesian Senior High School. The research sample consisted of 80 Indonesian students of class XI-AP 1 until XI-AP 3 in the academic year 2016/2017. The research employs ex-post facto design. The data collected through questionnaire and documentation was analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. It shows that there is a strong correlation between dependent and independent variables. The correlation value of the calculation is 0,776 it means the correlation is at strong grade. Based on the correlation value, it can be found the coefficient determination is 60%, it implies that students’ language learning attitude toward English and Speaking Achievement have strong correlation. It can be implied that students’ language learning toward English and Speaking Achievement has significant positive correlation at strong grade. It is show that if students have positive language learning toward English the result of their speaking will be good too. The other 40% is not to be discussing in this research.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the quality of implementation and assessment of project-based Learning planning on English Language Teaching courses at the Department of English Education, FKIP, Untirta. This study uses a goal-oriented evaluative approach (goal-oriented evaluation). Data collection techniques are done by observing, asking questions and documentation. Quantitative analysis was used in this data analysis. The conclusion of this study is that project-based learning planning is in accordance with the objectives of the lecture. (2) The quality of the implementation of the Learning planning on English language teaching course in the English education department, FKIP, Untirta is considered good. (3) The final grades for the Learning Planning on English Language Teaching lectures, FKIP, Untirta are already very good.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out moral values in Up and Doctor Strange film that can be used as material for teaching character education that involve in curriculum. This research is a qualitative research through content analysis method. The data in this research was collected through documentation and key informant with expert. In analyzing the data, the researcher used character table by Bohlin’s theory (2013) that consist of moral starting point, 1st morally pivotal point, 2nd morally pivotal point, challenge point, and new change. The result of this research showed there are some moral values in Up and Doctor Strange film that can be used as material for teaching character education involve in curriculum. The moral values are responsibility, caring other people, work hard, appreciate achievement of other people, curiosity, like to read and caring environment. These moral values also include in 18 that should be taught by teacher in teaching character education according to the Depdiknas (2010).

Abstract

The present study aims to determine and propose a model of material for English for Tourism using communicative approach. The present study uses a research and development methodology (R&D). The data collecting techniques are documentation, questionnaires, and interviews. The data gathered from documentation and interviews were analysed using content analysis while the data obtained from the questionnaires were analysed quantitatively using SPSS. The results of data analysis indicate that (1) the materials used of English for Tourism are based on lecturer’s assumptions, (2) based on the expert validation, the model material of English for Tourism falls into a very feasible category with the percentage of 86.76 %. The teaching materials based on the results of the students responses by the percentage is in the category of good (78.9 %). Based on the validation both from expert and students it could be concluded that a model of EFT material using communicative approach seems to be feasible to be applied in English Department of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University.

Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the relationship between the use of google classroom and English learning outcomes and describe the use the google classroom and English learning at the seventh grade of SMPN 3 Cisauk. The present study utilizes a sampling technique enclosing 184 samples from 342 populations of seventh graders. Data was collected using instrument adoptions. The applied method was a survey method with a quantitative approach and ex post facto. The result of the data analysis show that the test of normality is 0,017 <0,05. The analysis was a significant positive correlation between the two variables with a correlation value of r=0,248 and coefficient of determination r2=0,061 or the contribution to the use of Google Classroom and English learning outcomes is 6,1%. The use of Google Classroom with a mean value of 91.07 is categorized as high and learning outcomes with a mean value of 84.79 are categorized as high. The results of present study suggest that the use of Google Classroom has a positive effect on the English learning outcomes of the participants.

Abstract

This research purpose was to determine the influence of short story narrative text on students’ vocabulary mastery at the 10th grade of SMAN 1 PETIR. This research was done by true-experimental with random sampling. The population of this research was all of the first-grade high school students in Banten province, consisting of 350 students. The researcher used two classes, X MIPA 4 as the experimental and X MIPA 5 as the control class. Both classes consisted of 35 students. In obtaining the data, the researcher used multiple-choice questions as instruments. Try out was conducted as the first step to get the data. After conducting the tryout, the researcher gave a pre-test in both classes. The researcher gave the treatment in the experimental class using Short Story Animation as a media, and in the control class, the discussion method used a module. The result of the calculation by Independent T-test found that (0,002 < 0,005), which means the hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted. The effectiveness of using Short Story Animation Narrative Text can be seen in the ability obtained after the treatment.
