Abstract

This study aims to analyze newsroom convergence processes and newsroom models implemented by Tribun Pekanbaru and Riau Pos, while also examining how newsroom convergence is utilized as an economic strategy to maintain the sustainability of local media businesses amid digital disruption. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies involving newsroom managers, editors, and journalists from both media organizations. The findings indicate that Tribun Pekanbaru and Riau Pos have adopted different newsroom convergence strategies. Tribun Pekanbaru has implemented an integrated newsroom model that combines Cross Media Newsroom and Integrated Media Newsroom approaches, emphasizing digital-first production and multi-platform content distribution. Meanwhile, Riau Pos continues to maintain a separated newsroom model between print and digital divisions, reflecting a gradual adaptation process toward digital transformation. The study further reveals that these differences are influenced not only by technological factors and organizational culture but also by economic considerations. Tribun Pekanbaru develops an integrated newsroom to improve production efficiency and expand digital content monetization, while Riau Pos maintains separated newsrooms because print media remains a significant source of company revenue. This study concludes that newsroom convergence has evolved beyond a technological transformation into an economic adaptation strategy for local media organizations. The findings suggest that newsroom convergence enables media companies to improve operational efficiency, broaden audience reach, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen business sustainability in an increasingly competitive digital environment.

Abstract

This study examines the persuasive communication strategies employed by mediators in divorce case mediation at the Teluk Kuantan Religious Court. Using a qualitative research approach, the study seeks to understand how mediators design and implement communication strategies to manage marital conflict and encourage constructive dialogue between disputing spouses. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation of mediation sessions, and document analysis, with the researcher serving as the primary research instrument. The findings reveal that mediators apply a series of structured strategies across the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation, including conflict analysis, persuasive message formulation, empathetic communication, language reframing, emotional approaches, and caucus meetings. The effectiveness of these strategies is influenced by supporting factors such as mediator competence, institutional mediation procedures, and a conducive mediation environment, as well as inhibiting factors including emotional intensity, predetermined decisions to divorce, communication breakdowns, power imbalances, time constraints, and external social pressures. Overall, the study highlights that persuasive communication is central to the mediation process; however, its success depends not only on mediator skills but also on the psychological readiness of the parties and the broader institutional context of court-based mediation

Abstract

This community service program was implemented to empower women's groups in Bungaraya Village, Siak Regency, through the development of value-added and competitive processed catfish products. This activity is part of the implementation of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation (TPBIS), which prioritizes libraries as centers for improving literacy and community welfare. The approach used included discussion methods, direct practice, and coaching focused on improving technical skills (making catfish floss and crackers), strengthening branding, utilizing social media and marketplaces as marketing tools, and assistance with business legality. The results of the activity showed that participants experienced significant improvements in their understanding of entrepreneurship, productivity, and creativity in creating new products based on local potential. In addition, this activity also strengthened social relations among participants and increased women's confidence in entrepreneurship. This activity directly supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically goal 5 (gender equality) and goal 8 (inclusive economic growth). With a comprehensive approach, this program has proven effective in building economic independence and strengthening the role of women in community-based village development.

Conclusion. The pattern of tourism communication in developing heritage cities as tourist destinations begins with a balanced relationship between the government and related parties, expanding private and academic functions, increasing the role of the media, and strengthening local communities as actors in the development of Siak as a heritage city. Therefore, this tourism communication pattern can be a role model for other regions to develop sustainable heritage tourism.

Abstract

Environmental conservation issues have become a global challenge that demands cross-sector collaboration and active community involvement. Effective environmental communication plays a crucial role in raising awareness, changing behavior, and encouraging public participation in various sustainability initiatives. This study analyzes the environmental communication strategies implemented by PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) in its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, specifically the Biodiversity Park (Taman Kehati) and Ecoriparian initiatives at Lancang Kuning University (Unilak), Riau. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that PHR applies adaptive, participatory, and multi-stakeholder communication strategies, utilizing social media, interpersonal communication, and visual channels to deliver educational and persuasive messages. The evaluation indicates that the program has successfully increased environmental awareness, fostered community participation, and enhanced the educational and recreational functions of the conservation area. However, challenges remain in instilling disciplined waste disposal behavior and expanding public understanding of the area’s long-term goals. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen digital content, engage local communities as agents of change, and broaden media collaborations. This study contributes to the development of an environmental communication model based on conservation and community empowerment in Indonesia.
