Abstract

Communication in the family plays an important role in providing motivation for the development of children's education and in determining the continuation of higher education for children. This study aims to determine the communication model that exists in Betawi ethnic families in motivating higher education for children. This research is qualitative. Data were collected through interviews, literature study, and observation. The informants of this study consisted of six students who had parents with ethnic Betawi family backgrounds. Three informants lived in the DKI Jakarta area and three other informants lived in the Depok area. The results of this study indicate that the Betawi ethnic family communication model in an effort to motivate children to continue their education to a higher level is in accordance with the ABX model proposed by Newcomb and the Interactional model. In the ABX model from Newcomb, both parents and children consider higher education to be very important. Then, in the interactional model, communication that takes place in families with Betawi ethnic backgrounds takes place openly and reciprocally. This study suggests that communication built by parents has an impact on motivation in children which then affects children's behavior, especially in terms of education. Therefore, parents must develop a good communication environment with their children.Keyword : Communication of Family, Model of Communication, Motivation

Abstract

The family is the first party that plays the most role in the formation of various aspects of a child's life, one of which is learning motivation. The purpose of this research is to find out how Betawi ethnic family communication can improve children's learning motivation. This research uses descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The primary data collection method is done by interview, while secondary data is obtained from various sources of journal articles, books, theses, and other research documents similar to this research. The results of this study found that, Betawi ethnic families with consensual and pluralistic family types tended to be able to increase children's learning motivation. Whereas families with protective types tend not to increase children's learning motivation, and there are no informants with laissez-faire family types. The contribution of this study is the result of research that can be applied by Betawi ethnic and other ethnic families to be able to know and apply suitable family types to increase children's learning motivation

Abstract

Family is one of the most important aspects in human life and is also the first environment that will be an example for every individual, especially for a child. Family is the first place where children form their potential. The first education a child gets also comes from the family. In Indonesia, which has a variety of cultures, of course, has differences in communication, especially communication within the family. The ethnicity we examined in this study was the Betawi ethnicity, where previously the Betawi people thought that education for daughters was not an obligation but as the development of the cultural age also developed over the course of time we found many women from the Betawi ethnicity were able to teach learners in higher education. This is also influenced by the mindset instilled by the Betawi ethnic family through the instilled family communication pattern.  In this study, researchers are interested in knowing how the communication patterns of Betawi ethnic families in building awareness of the importance of higher education for daughters. The method used in this research is a quantitative method by collecting data using a questionnaire which is distributed to 30 respondents. The respondents of this study were daughters from the Betawi ethnicity. The results of this study indicate that the Betawi ethnic family tends to apply the balanced split pattern and the unbalanced split pattern, in which the balanced split pattern prioritizes equality in roles and balanced tasks for each family member. Meanwhile, the unbalanced split pattern applies the opposite. This communication pattern is not balanced, and one of the dominant family members in the family.

Abstract

 PKS kembali meluncurkan simbol partai barunya. Perubahan ini bukan kali pertama yang dilakukan oleh PKS. Perubahan lambang yang dilakukan dalam hal ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan suara di kalangan generasi muda pada pemilu mendatang. Perubahan terakhir pada lambang PKS terletak pada bentuknya yang bulat dengan kombinasi warna oranye yang berarti kehangatan dan putih yang melambangkan ketulusan. Inti dari perubahan simbol ini adalah agar PKS tampil lebih segar, lebih dekat dan terbuka dengan berbagai kalangan, termasuk generasi muda. Untuk itu, penelitian ini ingin mengetahui bagaimana citra PKS terhadap perubahan simbol partai bagi generasi muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Penelitian ini memiliki satu variabel yaitu citra perubahan simbol. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 102 responden sesuai dengan kriteria penelitian yaitu generasi muda yang berusia antara 17 tahun sampai dengan 25 tahun. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa generasi muda mengetahui tentang perubahan simbol PKS melalui media sosial. Lambang baru PKS berwarna jingga ini, dinilai lebih segar dari lambang sebelumnya yang didominasi warna hitam sehingga terkesan kuno dan monoton. Perubahan lambang PKS berhasil mengubah citra positif partai bagi generasi muda. Generasi mdua beranggapan bahwa perubahan lambang menjadi salah satu upaya yang dilakukan PKS dalam melibatkan dan mewadahi aspirasi generasi muda di dunia politik kedepannya. Lambang baru PKS yang lebih sederhana dan fresh, lebih mudah dipahami generasi muda dan berhasil menciptakan citra opitimisme dan semagnat PKS dalam politik kedepannya. Generasi muda juga menilai tampilan baru PKS menampilkan visi dan misi partai dengan lebih jelas dan mudah dipahami generasi muda. Namun perubahan ini belum cukup untuk membuat generasi muda memilih PKS pada pemilu mendatang. Bagi generasi muda, perubahan lambang harus diimabngi dengan peningkatan kinerja partai.

Abstract

Instagram is one of the social media that is widely used by various groups ranging from teenagers to adults, so that the information uploaded on Instagram can reach a wide audience. The concept in this study is Instagram Social Media as variable X and Information on the Spread of Da'wah as variable Y. The population in this study were students of the 2019 State University of Jakarta Communication Studies program, totaling 82 people. This research uses uses and gratification theory. This study uses quantitative methods and the data that has been obtained is processed and analyzed by testing the validity, reliability and bivariate. The results showed that the t-count value of 6.265 is higher than the t-table value of 2.017, the validity of the X and Y variables which are more than 0.5 and can be said to be valid and the reliability of the X and Y variables which are more than 0.6 and can be said to be reliable so that it can be It was concluded that Instagram social media had an effect on the media for spreading da'wah to students of Communication Studies, State University of Jakarta, batch 2019.

Abstract

Families are essential to a healthy and prosperous society. During a pandemic, the family's role in the development of family elements is diminished. The research question is whether family communication exists regarding family members' engagement during a pandemic. The study's objective was to ascertain the effect of family communication on family members' involvement during a pandemic. The term "family communication" refers to the exchange of information between family members and the involvement of family members. The researchers distributed validated and reliable questionnaires to respondents. The findings of this study indicate that family communication has a strong correlation with family member involvement. In this study, the null hypothesis was rejected. As a result, the alternative research hypothesis was accepted. All aspects of family communication that have a positive value, such as words, gestures, voice intonation, actions to instill hope, expressions, and mutual understanding, have a strong relationship with the two variables.The research concludes and suggests that all family communication components possess positive descriptive elements and thus exert a strong influence on family members' participation in this study.

Abstract

Manusia merupakan makhluk sosial yang dimana membutuhkan bantuan orang lain dalam kehidupannya. Komunikasi antarpribadi menjadi suatu bentuk komunikasi yang sering digunakan untuk berinteraksi secara aktif, pasif, maupun interaktif. Komunikasi keluarga menjadi salah satu bentuk dari suatu hubungan komunikasi antarpribadi. Keluarga merupakan aspek primer yang dibutuhkan setiap individu. Keluarga juga merupakan tempat pertama bagi anak untuk mempelajari dan mencari tahu banyak hal. Keluarga memiliki peranan penting dalam membentuk karakteristik, kepribadian juga pola pikir anak.Betawi memilki keberagaman warna dalam budayanya yang membawa banyak macam persepsi, pentafsiran, dan pengetahuan etnis Betawi. Masyarakat Betawi dikenal dengan pendidikan agamanya yang kuat. Orang tua dalam masyarakat Betawi juga sangat memperhatikan pendidikan. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Komunikasi Antarpribadi Orang Tua Etnis Betawi dalam Menanamkan Pentingnya Pendidikan Tinggi Bagi Anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu responden yang merupakan etnis betawi, rata-rata dalam keluarga mereka menerapkan nilai kesetaraan dan juga keterbukaan dalam komunikasi antarpribadi yang dilakukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has not yet stopped and to overcome it the government has made a policy, namely PPKM (Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions) Level 4 on (July 26 – August 23, 2021) which applies in several regions in Indonesia, one of which is the Province of DKI Jakarta. With PPKM Level 4, various online media, one of which is Kompas.com, is to report it. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of exposure to PPKM Level 4 news on Kompas.com for the period 26 July – 23 August 2021 on the attitude toward carrying out health protocols in UNJ Communication Science students. In this study, the researcher uses the uses and gratifications theory, with quantitative research and survey methods by distributing questionnaires to 77 respondents. The results of this study show that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which indicates that PPKM news exposure is Level 4 The period of July 26 – August 23, 2021 on Kompas.com has an influence on the attitude toward obeying health protocols in UNJ Communication Science students.
