Abstract

This study is to analyze the potential of the area for developing dairy cattle in Enrekang Regency using a descriptive method. Primary data was obtained from direct interviews with dairy farmers and secondary data collected was periodic data over five years, from 2017 to 2021, sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Enrekang Regency. The data analysis used is qualitative analysis and location quotient (LQ). The results show that the areas that become the economic base in the development of the dairy cattle business are Cendana District and Anggeraja District. The obstacles experienced by dairy farmers so far are the availability of cattle breeds, the availability of feed, health services, marketing, and human resources. The dairy farming business in Enrekang Regency can be maximized to be able to be competitive.

Abstract

Introduction: Corn farming faces various challenges from economic, ecological, and institutional aspects. For effective agricultural extension, it is crucial to optimize the role of social capital, which catalyzes optimizing corn farming, particularly concerning the extent to which farmers become innovative in increasing income. Methods: This research employed a quantitative approach. The data were collected through primary sources via the distribution of questionnaires to 175 farmers as per sampling requirements, as well as interviews and field observations. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: (1) The effectiveness of extension services significantly and positively influences corn farmers' social capital, with a coefficient value of 43.00%. (2) The effectiveness of extension services significantly and positively affects innovative behavior in increasing income among corn farmers, with a coefficient value of 22.80%. (3) Social capital significantly and positively influences innovative behavior in increasing income among corn farmers, with a coefficient value of 74.80%. (4) The effectiveness of extension services through social capital significantly and positively influences innovative behavior in increasing income among corn farmers, with a coefficient value of 32.20%, resulting in a total effect of 55.00%. Conclusion: Social capital serves as a significant intervening factor, as its enhancement facilitates agricultural extension workers in their tasks by encouraging farmers to become more innovative in increasing both production and income from corn farming in the Bone Bolango Regency.

Abstract

The Takakura method is a sustainable small-scale composting technique. The issue faced by the Iloheluma Village community is a lack of skills in managing household waste, leading to improper waste disposal, environmental pollution, and waste accumulation that degrades the village’s appearance. This community service activity aimed to enhance the community's understanding and skills in effectively managing household waste using the Takakura method. The activities involved observation, coordination, waste management counseling, and hands-on training. The results demonstrated an increase in the community's ability to manage waste, reduce waste accumulation, and raise awareness of proper waste management practices.

Abstract

Introduction: Food security programs have become a strategic issue that consistently attracts the attention of various levels of government, including village governments, as regulated in the Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia. Thus, this program will create sustainable food security, which is also a measure of the success of rural development. Methods: This research is a quantitative study. The data source in this research is primary data obtained through the distribution of questionnaires to the district government, villages, and farmers, in accordance with the sample calculation requirements of 213 farmers, as well as through interviews and field observations. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) PLS. Results: (1) village development performance, resource management, collaboration and creativity of the farmer-breeder community is on fairly good criteria (2) resource management has a positive and significant effect on collaboration, resource management has a positive and significant effect on the creativity of farmer-breeders, resource management has a positive but insignificant effect on village development performance, collaboration has a positive and significant effect on village development performance, the creativity of farmer-breeders has a positive and significant effect on village development performance, resource management through collaboration has a positive and significant effect on village development performance, the creativity of farmer-breeders has a positive and significant effect on village development performance. Conclusion: collaboration and creativity of farmer-breeders are good mediating variables as they can enhance the influence of resource management on village development performance based on the priorities of village funds in plant and animal food security.

Abstract

Tongkol jagung memiliki potensi yang bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ikan karena mengandung senyawa-senyawa yang bermanfaat karena mengandung karbohidrat sebagai sumber energi, serat kasar untuk kesehatan pencernaan ikan, dan sebagai sumber protein dan lemaknya rendah. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah memberikan penyuluhan dan edukasi kepada masyarakat Desa Bondaraya dalam memanfaatkan limbah tongkol jagung hasil panen pertanian untuk dijadikan sebagai pakan ikan. Berhubung sebagian masyarakat Desa Bondaraya pembudidaya ikan air tawar. Metode yang digunakann yakni transfer ilmu dan pelatihan langsung kepada kelompok masyarakat tani dan pembudidaya ikan. Dimana bahan-bahan yang digunakan yakni, tepung tongkol jagung, tepung kedelai, tepung tapioka, dan air hangat. Kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan pakan ini mendapat respon positif dari masyarakat. Hal ini terlihat dari keseriusan masyarakat yang memanfaatkannya untuk produksi pakan. Sehingga pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian berjalan dengan baik dan dapat diterima oleh masyarakat.

Abstract

Membudidayakan rumput odot merupakan salah satu pilihan masyarakat di Desa Pilohayanga Kecamatan Telaga dalam meningkatkan sumber perekonomian. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis pendapatan dan kelayakan usahatani rumput odot dari aspek ekonomi dan untuk menganalisis tingkat adopsi inovasi petani rumput odot dari aspek sosial di Desa Pilohayanga. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel sebanyak 10 petani dengan teknik pengambilan sampel secara snowball. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dan sekunder. Selain itu, jenis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) Usahatani budidaya rumput odot di Desa Pilohayanga Kecamatan Telaga dikatakan layak berdasarkan analisis B/C menunjukkan >1. (2) Faktor yang mempengaruhi proses adopsi inovasi usahatani rumput odot ini diantaranya yaitu: usahatani rumput odot lebih menghemat biaya perawatan, biaya tenaga kerja, dan menghemat waktu penanaman, petani merasa cocok untuk membudidayakan rumput odot karena sesuai dengan aktivitas sehari-hari serta tidak menggangu aktivitas lain dan Petani di Desa Pilohayanga mengetahui inovasi baru itu dari petani lain dan belajar dari pengalaman yang awalnya juga seorang peternak sapi yang membudidayakan rumput odot.
