Abstract

Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) remain one of the most significant occupational health burdens worldwide, underscoring the need for practical, efficient, and cost-effective tools for ergonomic assessment. The Ovako Work Analysis System (OWAS) and Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA) are widely used methods for evaluating work posture, but their manual or desktop-based implementations often require multiple devices, involve longer processing times, and lack integrated user guidance. This study aims to develop and evaluate a mobile application that integrates both OWAS and ROSA methods using the Waterfall software development model. The application was built on the Flutter framework using the Dart programming language and tested on Android devices. Key features include posture data capture via camera or image gallery, automated risk scoring, and result visualization with actionable posture improvement recommendations. Functional, accuracy, and performance tests confirmed that the application produces the same final scores as manual methods, while significantly reducing analysis time and eliminating the need for additional supporting tools. A PIECES framework analysis comparing the manual and mobile systems further revealed improvements in performance, information delivery, cost-efficiency, data control, and user experience. This research concludes that the application effectively addresses the limitations of conventional assessment tools and has the potential to streamline posture evaluation processes in both industrial and office settings

Abstract

The worker’s recovery time from physical and mental workload is a crucial factor for office and factory management and it will effect on the working performance and design working system. The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of physiological conditions on sleep quality and time to recovery for night shift electric steam power plant workers. The research is started with study literatures on physiology ergonomics, sleep quality measurement, human metabolism, expenditure energy graph and physical/mental workload. The research worked with 50 samples (age between 30 to 45 years old) who have duty to control the electric steam power plant on dynamic computer screen in the night shift. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire was used subjectively to measure the value of sleep quality on 19 self – rated questions that assessed various sleep quality – related factor over the previous month. To know the speed of Time to Recovery (TTR), every worker perform a treadmill load with constant speed of 5 Km/hour for 10 minutes. Heart rate changes before activity, during activity (treatment) and TTR are recorded and it be analysed the pattern of relationship conducting to PSQI score. According to the data analysis, the higher PSQI score the longer time consume by workers to recovery. Moreover, Pearson statistic test results found that there is a strong relationship between sleep quality (PSQI value) and TTR for workers with value of 0.853. In sort, improving the quality of sleep for night shift electric steam power plant workers can definitely improve work performance on a shorter rest time or healthier conditions of workers.

Abstract

The provision of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and its supporting facilities in Jakarta necessitates an analysis of their user-friendliness for passengers. These facilities include information on various locations such as toilets, mosques, MRT card counters, ticket vending machines (TVMs), and signage directing passengers to the MRT. TVMs are machines that enable passengers to purchase MRT tickets and top up their card balances. A crucial aspect of evaluating TVM performance is assessing their user-friendliness, which is determined by the ease with which passengers can understand and operate them. This study aims to analyze the user-friendliness of TVMs at MRT stations using the NASA TLX approach. NASA TLX evaluates the impact of using TVMs based on mental, physical, and temporal demands, as well as performance, effort, and frustration. Data were collected through accidental sampling of respondents aged 18 - 28. The NASA TLX questionnaire explored users' cognitive perceptions of the TVMs' displays and procedures. The results will reveal how the factors measured by NASA TLX influence the interaction between passengers and TVMs at MRT stations. The findings will provide recommendations for MRT managers to enhance TVM designs and modify display procedures to improve user satisfaction.

Abstract

Job stress is a circumstance that every employee could faces in performing their job. They tend to deal with it differently according to their own way. It is basically a mismatch between the individual capabilities and organizational demand. The existing employees must exert their ability to complete their tasks in order to fulfilling the organization’s demand. One of the major sources of job stress is excessive workload. Every workload received by employee must fit and balanced with the physical and mental abilities of the employee so that there will be less fatigue and stress that could affect the employee’s performance. This study aims to evaluate the workload for the human physiological feedback. The physiological feedback was evaluated based on the activity while operator using lathe machine. The physiological feedback is based on integumentary activities and cardiovascular activities. The results of this research showed that the operators of the lathe machine operator physiological feedbacks has significant correlation with the Galvanic skin response (GSR). All of indicators such as Heart rate (HR), systole, diastole, and body temperature has positive correlation with the GSR values. Moreover, for noise indicators also has positive correlation with the GSR. This mean that the enviromental condition which represented by noise evaluation has significant correlation with the stress.
