Many factors that influence the occurrence of relapse in schizophrenia patients can be detrimental to the family, society and the environment and themselves. These causes include medication adherence, support from health workers, family support and genetic history of the patient himself. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the recurrence of people with schizophrenia. The type of research used is a quantitative type of correlation research with a cross-sectional design approach. The research sample was 266 people, using the continuous sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Data analysis using bivariate test with chi square and multivariate using logistic regression. The results of the study obtained the significance value of the relationship between various recurrence factors, including: medication adherence sig. 0.000 <0.05, health worker support sig. 0.006<0.05, family support sig. 0.000 <0.05, and genetic history with sig. 0.000<0.05. The conclusion of the study is that there is a relationship between medication adherence, support from health workers, family support and genetic history with recurrence of people with schizophrenia. It is hoped that the hospital and the family will pay attention to the factors associated with the recurrence, so that the recurrence of people with schizophrenia can be minimized.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from child to adult, where teenagers will experience puberty, namely physical and psychological changes. Therefore, the role of parents is very necessary regarding adolescent reproductive health to prevent and protect themselves from sexual behavior risks. This writing aims to increase knowledge of the role of parents regarding reproductive health. The education provided includes education about adolescent reproductive health and adolescent strategies for sexual behavior risk. The method used a 60-minute (lecture, question and answer session). Measurements were carried out using a questionnaire on the level of knowledge about reproductive health which was measured before and after providing education which consists of 20 questions. The sample for this service was 30 parents of teenagers at the Kaya Pangur Village Hall, Deleng District, Southeast Aceh Regency. The measurement results were analyzed using statistical tests, namely the Paired t-Test. The results showed that there was a difference in parents' knowledge scores about reproductive health before and after being given education about reproductive health (p-value = 0.000; α <0.05). Education about the role of parents regarding adolescent reproductive health plays a very important role for parents in knowing the progress of their adolescent child's development. Apart from that, the role of parents also plays a role in shaping the behavior of their children, especially health behavior related to reproductive health.

Abstract

Healthcare services in Indonesia, as a multicultural country, face challenges in providing culturally sensitive nursing care. Clinical leadership plays a crucial role in developing nurses’ cultural competence to reduce patient anxiety, which can influence the healing process. This study aimed to examine the influence of clinical leadership on nurses’ cultural competence and its role in reducing patient anxiety in the inpatient ward of Nurul Hasanah Hospital. This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design, involving 120 nurses and 150 patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Clinical Leadership Survey, Intercultural Competence Scale in Nursing, and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that clinical leadership was rated high (mean = 3.82), cultural competence moderate (mean = 3.45), and patient anxiety moderate (mean = 42.8). Clinical leadership had a positive effect on cultural competence (β = 0.687, p < 0.001) and a negative effect on patient anxiety (β = -0.214, p = 0.004). Cultural competence negatively affected patient anxiety (β = -0.478, p < 0.001) and partially mediated the relationship between clinical leadership and patient anxiety (β = -0.328, p < 0.001). Clinical leadership effectively reduces patient anxiety both directly and indirectly by enhancing nurses’ cultural competence. Strengthening clinical leadership and cultural competence may contribute to more culturally responsive and psychologically safe inpatient care.

Abstract

Holistic nursing care requires nurses to possess cultural competence in order to provide effective and responsive care that respects patients' cultural values. Low cultural sensitivity in nursing practice can increase patient anxiety and decrease the quality of care. Clinical leadership from head nurses plays a vital role in fostering culturally sensitive nursing practices. This community service activity aims to enhance nurses' cultural competence and clinical leadership through an interactive workshop for head nurses and staff nurses at Nurul Hasanah Hospital, Kutacane . The workshop was conducted offline from August 18 to September 26, 2024, using participatory, case-based, and reflective learning approaches. Activities included the development of training modules, pre-tests, workshop implementation, post-tests, and post-training monitoring. Training materials covered clinical leadership concepts, cross-cultural communication, strategies to reduce patient anxiety, and the application of local cultural values in nursing care. Evaluation was conducted through knowledge tests and observation of follow-up action plan implementation. A total of 25 participants attended, with a 92% attendance rate. The evaluation showed an increase in the average score from 58.6 (pre-test) to 82.1 (post-test), and 76% of participants successfully implemented their follow-up plans, with several best practices documented. This activity proved effective in strengthening clinical leadership and cultural competence among nurses, contributing to reducing patient anxiety. Hospitals are encouraged to integrate cultural competency training into routine programs and ensure continuous monitoring to support implementation in care settings.
