Abstract

Abstract Adolescents living in orphanages often face challenges in developing self-acceptancedue to a lack of social support and an unstable self-concept. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-concept and social support with self-acceptance among orphanage adolescents in the East Surabaya area. The method used is a correlational quantitative approach with a non-parametric technique using Spearman’s Rho test, as the data did not meet normality and linearity assumptions. The participants consisted of 256 adolescents aged 13–18 years, selected through quota sampling. The results demonstrate a very strong positive correlation between self-concept and self-acceptance (r = 0.905; p < 0.05), as well as between social support and self-acceptance (r = 0.829; p < 0.05). These findings highlight the crucialrole of strengthening self-concept and social support in promoting the psychologicalwell-being of orphanage adolescents. Abstrak Remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan sering mengalami hambatan didalam membentuk penerimaan diri akibat kurangnya dukungan sosial serta juga konsep diri yang tidak stabil. Temuan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsep diri serta juga dukungan sosial dengan penerimaan diri pada remaja panti asuhan di wilayah Surabaya Timur. Metode yang digunakan ialah kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik non-parametric menggunakan uji Spearman’s Rho karena data tidak memenuhi asumsi normalitas serta juga linearitas. Partisipan berjumlah 256 remaja usia 13–18 tahun yang dipilih dengan teknik quota sampling. Hasil temuan membuktikkan adanya hubungan positif yang sangat kuat antara konsep diri serta juga penerimaan diri (r = 0,905; p < 0,05) serta antara dukungan sosial serta juga penerimaan diri (r = 0,829; p < 0,05). Temuan ini membuktikkan pentingnya penguatan konsep diri serta juga dukungan sosial bagi kesejahteraan psikologis remaja panti. Abstract

Abstract Generation Z is a demographic highly active on social media platforms, particularly Instagram, where they express themselves and engage with others. However, improper use of these platforms can trigger cyber aggression behaviors. This study aims to explore the relationship between self-control and the online disinhibition effect on cyber aggression among Generation Z Instagram users in Surabaya. Using a quantitative correlational approach, the research involved 150 respondents aged 13 to 28, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using psychological scales, and the results were analyzed with multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that self-control and the online disinhibition effect simultaneously have a significant influence on cyber aggression behavior. Individually, self-control negatively correlates with online aggression, meaning higher self-control reduces such behavior, while the online disinhibition effect shows a positive correlation, indicating that reduced online inhibitions increase cyber aggression. These results highlight the crucial need to strengthen self-control and digital awareness as effective strategies to prevent aggressive behaviors in the virtual space. Keywords: Cyber aggression, Generation Z, Instagram, Self-control, Online disinhibition effect Abstrak Generasi Z ialah kelompok usia yang aktif menggunakan media sosial, khususnya Instagram, sebagai sarana berekspresi serta juga berinteraksi. Namun, penggunaan yang tidak bijak dapatlah memicu perilaku cyber aggression. Temuan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-control serta juga online disinhibition effect terhadap perilaku cyber aggression pada pengguna Instagram dari kalangan Generasi Z di Surabaya. Pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional digunakan dengan melibatkan 150 responden berusia 13–28 tahun, dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan skala psikologis serta juga dianalisis dengan regresi linier berganda. Hasil temuan membuktikkan bahwasanya self-control serta juga online disinhibition effect secara simultan memiliki hubungan signifikan terhadap perilaku cyber aggression. Secara parsial, self-control berhubungan negatif, sedangkan online disinhibition effect berhubungan positif terhadap agresi daring. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya penguatan kontrol diri serta juga kesadaran digital didalam mencegah agresi di ruang maya. Abstract

Abstract This empirical research explores the relationship among authoritarian parenting and self-criticism with career decision-making among 10th and 11th grade students at SMA Wachid Hasyim 1 Surabaya. Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, a total of 210 students were recruited through purposive sampling. Data were gathered using validated and reliable instruments, which was pre-tested on 30 respondents. The findings revealed a statistically significant simultaneous correlation among authoritarian parenting and self-criticism with career decision-making (R = 0.966, p < 0.05). Moreover, the partial test indicated that authoritarian parenting was significantly and positively associated with increased difficulty in making career decisions (p < 0.05), indicating that the more authoritarian the parenting style, the more likely students were to face difficulties in making career decisions. Additionally, self-criticism also showed a significant positive relationship with career decision-making (p < 0.05), suggesting that to a certain extent, self-criticism can encourage students to be more reflective and careful when determining their career choices. Abstrak Melalui penelitian ini, peneliti berupaya untuk mengeksplorasi korelasi antara pola asuh otoriter serta kecenderungan kritik terhadap diri sendiri dengan proses pengambilan keputusan karir pada peserta didik kelas X dan XI di SMA Wachid Hasyim 1 Surabaya. Studi dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional pada partisipan sebanyak 210 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive random sampling. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan meliputi skala pola asuh otoriter, skala kritik diri, dan skala pengambilan keputusan karir yang telah diuji coba terlebih dahulu pada 30 responden guna menjamin validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen. Hasil pengolahan data mengungkapkan adanya hubungan signifikan secara simultan antara pola asuh otoriter dan kritik diri terhadap kemampuan pengambilan keputusan karier, yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai koefisien korelasi R sebesar 0,966 dengan tingkat signifikansi di bawah 0,05 (p < 0,05). Secara parsial, pola asuh otoriter memiliki hubungan positif signifikan dengan pengambilan keputusan karir (p < 0,05), menggambarkan bahwa pola asuh otoriter yang tinggi dapat memperbesar risiko siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan arah kariernya. Sementara itu, kemampuan individu dalam mengkritisi diri sendiri secara signifikan berkorelasi positif dengan efektivitas mereka dalam menentukan pilihan karier (p < 0,05), yang menunjukkan bahwa dalam kadar tertentu, kritik diri dapat mendorong siswa untuk lebih reflektif dan hati-hati dalam menentukan pilihan karirnya. Abstract

Abstract Overseas students in their late teens are prone to loneliness because they have to adapt to a new environment without direct support from their families. This study aims to determine the role of self-compassion and social support in reducing loneliness levels among overseas students. This study uses a correlational quantitative approach with 183 overseas students aged 18–21 years as participants selected using incidental sampling techniques. The instruments used include scales measuring loneliness, self-compassion, and social support. Data analysis was conducted using correlation and regression tests. The results indicate that both self-compassion and social support are significantly negatively correlated with loneliness. This means that the higher the levels of self-compassion and social support, the lower the levels of loneliness experienced by students. These findings highlight the importance of psychological interventions that foster self-compassion and build strong social networks. Abstrak Mahasiswa rantau pada tahap remaja akhir rentan mengalami kesepian karena harus beradaptasi dengan lingkungan baru tanpa dukungan langsung dari keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran self-compassion dan dukungan sosial dalam mengurangi tingkat loneliness pada mahasiswa rantau. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan 183 mahasiswa rantau berusia 18–21 tahun sebagai partisipan yang dipilih menggunakan teknik insidental sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi skala loneliness, self-compassion, dan dukungan sosial. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi dan regresi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa baik self-compassion maupun dukungan sosial berhubungan negatif signifikan dengan loneliness. Artinya, semakin tinggi tingkat self-compassion dan dukungan sosial, semakin rendah tingkat kesepian yang dirasakan mahasiswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya intervensi psikologis yang menumbuhkan welas asih pada diri dan membangun jejaring sosial yang kuat. Abstract

The increasing elderly population in Indonesia creates an urgent need for caregivers who can not only bear the burden of caregivers but also achieve optimal thriving conditions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between resilience and thriving, and examine the role of social support as a moderating variable among elderly caregivers. This quantitative correlational study involved 119 elderly caregivers (54 formal, 65 informal) selected through purposive sampling. Data collection used three instruments: Flourishing Measure (10 items, α=0.782), Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (23 items, α=0.860), and Social Support Scale (15 items, α=0.818). Data analysis used Moderate Regression Analysis. Resilience showed a significant positive relationship with thriving (Z=6.47, p<0.001). Social support demonstrated a direct effect on thriving (Z=2.63, p=0.009) but was not shown to be a moderator (Z=-1.66, p=0.097). Resilience served as a significant predictor of thriving among elderly caregivers. The effectiveness of social support depends on its alignment with the caregiver's specific needs.

Abstract

Academic stress is a form of psychological pressure frequently experienced by university students due to demanding academic responsibilities, especially among students in early adulthood who are involved in romantic relationships. To manage these pressures effectively, students need adaptive coping strategies. In addition, social support is considered an important factor that can help students deal with academic stress through emotional and instrumental assistance. This study aimed to examine the relationship between coping strategies and academic stress among university students in romantic relationships in Surabaya, as well as to investigate the moderating role of social support in this relationship. The study employed a quantitative correlational design involving 167 university students from several higher education institutions in Surabaya who were currently in romantic relationships. Data were collected using coping strategies, academic stress, and social support scales based on the theories of Lazarus and Folkman (1984), Bedewy and Gabriel (2015), and Sarafino and Smith (2014). Data analysis was conducted using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The findings revealed a significant relationship between coping strategies and academic stress. Moreover, social support significantly moderated this relationship by helping students optimize coping strategies when facing academic demands.
