Abstract

Since the pandemic, some universities can act swiftly to develop distance learning mechanisms, but others organize distance learning sporadically by allowing each lecturer to manage without standards. This research used a qualitative survey involving 66 students and 57 lecturers from various universities in Indonesia. It delivered dual perspectives between students and lecturers to improve previous research that did one perspective only. Most recognized the benefits of time and location flexibility when participating in distance learning but were dissatisfied with its implementation. During the pandemic, students were forced to explore independently by reading slides, listening to lecturers, watching videos, discussing in the online room, and doing independent assignments without any preparation. The pandemic also significantly changed the lecturers' teaching styles. They performed several variations in delivering material, increasing interaction in discussion forums, and evaluating the learning. Generally, distance learning without complete preparation since the pandemic was relatively good, as indicated by (1) lecturers' satisfaction with the course material delivery, (2) students' activeness according to the lecturer, and (3) learning outcomes achievement. These findings become insight for university stakeholders to enhance distance learning processes in the post-pandemic era since students and lecturers have felt its benefits but require many improvements.

Abstract

To maintain business continuity, PT Neuronworks has demanded to ensure a professional attitude and guarantee data confidentiality in all software projects it handles. The basic problem is that awareness of professional ethics and project confidentiality is hazardous. One ethical violation or data leak can impact the project's continuity, even PT Neuronworks' business. This is closely related to employees who can change and the involvement of external parties prone to data leaks between entities. To increase capabilities for these demands, the Faculty of Informatics is holding community service activities in workshops with content related to professional ethics and data confidentiality in software projects. This workshop covered three topics: software engineer professional ethics, risk management simulations for software project data leaks, and drafting non-disclosure agreements. The workshop activity was held on June 27, 2023, with 19 participants from various software project teams at PT Neuronworks. The satisfaction with community service activities reached 90.48% through quantitative measurements. This indicates that this activity was successful in achieving effectiveness and partner satisfaction.

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop an efficient funding website for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mataram City using the Simple Additive Weighting(SAW) method at PT XYZ. The background of the research is based on challenges suchas the manual selection of MSMEs, which can be time-consuming and prone to errors incalculating scores or values. Additionally, the criteria scores lack a definite average valuefor each category, and there is a risk of losing MSME application documents due todisorganized collection, leading to scattered documents. In this advanced era, manycompanies use websites to support their programs, while PT XYZ still lacks such aplatform to support its funding program. Given these challenges, a website is needed tosupport the funding program and address existing issues. This research uses a qualitativeapproach, collecting data through literature studies, interviews, and observations. Theresults of this research show that using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) methodyields consistent final values in both manual and program-based tests and enables fasterselection

Abstract

During the ongoing pandemic with elevated COVID-19 cases, efforts to minimize direct physical contact for virus prevention have been heightened. Consequently, there has been a strong emphasis on adopting non-cash transactions, particularly electronic payments. As the Indonesian government revoked the social restriction policy on December 30, 2022, people gradually resumed normal activities such as work, school, and shopping. The question arises whether the widespread adoption of electronic payments will persist after COVID-19. To understand this and the factors influencing the sustained use of electronic payments, this study utilized the UTAUT, Trust, and Perceived Security as the research model. The findings indicate that all 920 survey participants maintain their electronic payment usage after COVID-19. Through PLS-SEM analysis, key factors contributing to the sustained use of electronic payment after COVID-19 include the intention to use electronic payments, user trust, performance expectations, facilitating conditions, and perceived security. Additional variables proposed in this research, user trust and perceived security, are proven to have an influence on users' intentions to continue using electronic payments.

Abstract

In recent years, Scrum has grown in popularity and is now one of the project development approaches widely used by organizations around the world. Startup XYZ has been implementing Scrum since 2021. However, until now, the Scrum implementation process is still experiencing many obstacles. Based on identification through a fishbone diagram, these problems stem from the application of Scrum which has not been maximized in software development at Startup XYZ. The purpose of this research is to measure the maturity level of Scrum implementation in software development at Startup XYZ using the Scrum Maturity Model (SMM). SMM focuses on evaluating and providing direction for software development that implements Scrum. Then the Key Process Area (KPA) Rating is used to define achievements in each process area, which is adapted from the Agile Maturity Model (AMM). The measurement results show that the Scrum maturity level at Startup XYZ is still at level 1 (Initial). Based on the measurement results, improvement recommendations are provided based on the answers to the SMM questionnaire and referring to the Scrum Guide 2020, SBOK Guide v3, and Essential Scrum, with a focus on increasing level 2 and level 3 according to the expectations of Startup XYZ.

Abstract

Background: Software discontinuity due to the inability to accommodate the needs of users is a the significant challenge facing the software development life cycle. This implied that the development team must be capable of producing software with extended lifespan, including the ability to detect outages early, to maintain continuity. Organizations need to determine the contributing and inhibiting factors responsible for discontinuity usage.  Objective: This research aimed to explore the factors that contribute and inhibit the discontinuation of software use in organizations as well as the prevention strategies.  Methods: The summative content analysis technique was used to capture, codify, and classify statements from respondents to discover usage pattern. Data were collected through interview and questionnaire techniques with 10 respondents from various Indonesian companies. The respondents had various sectoral backgrounds in software usage for more than a year. The data collected were compared, contrasted, and synthesized to deliver a holistic pattern among respondents.  Results: The result showed that 10 key factors contributed to software discontinuity, namely Loss of Perceived Usefulness (LUS), Loss of Perceived Ease of Use (LEU), Decreased Effort Expectancy (DEX), Decreased Performance Expectancy (DPX), Social Influence (SOI), Lack of Facilitating Conditions (LFC), Decreased Price Value (DPV), Lack of Habit (LHB), Hedonic Motivation (HDM), and Loss of Perceived Behavioral Control (LBC). The factors were further categorized into three big issues, including Software Usability (LUS, LEU, DEX, and DPX), External Triggers (DPV, SOI, and LBC), and Risk Management after Discontinuity (LFC, LHB, and SOI). Furthermore, the results indicated that nine factors contributed to software discontinuity except HDM with LEU and LUS having weak significance since most respondents stated partial agreement and disagreements.  Conclusion: This research employed a rigorous qualitative method to validate the factors in the proposed software discontinuity model with 10 causative factors. The acquired knowledge is expected to aid organizations or related development units to build software that accommodates user needs, including meeting long-term business targets.  Keywords: Software, Software Discontinuity, Influencing Factors, Qualitative Method
