Abstract

This research contains a study of the tradition of sea harvesting that has been carried out for decades by the residents of Kranji Paciran Lamongan village. The activity is conducted once a year, every August, coinciding with the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method and is presented descriptively using the living al-Qur'an approach. Data collection is done through observation and interviews related to the al-Qur'an values that underlie the activity and its institutionalization as a religious tradition preserved by the community. The research findings indicate that the tradition is based on the values of gratitude taught by religion, as expressed in the al-Qur'an. The gratitude referred to is the thankfulness for the abundance of blessings in the form of marine resources. It also includes gratitude as an expression of thanks to the ancestors. The series of activities within the tradition is a blend of Islamic elements, such as religious lectures, and Javanese culture, in the form of a shadow puppetry (wayang kulit) performance. Through these activities, it is hoped that the community of Kranji village, especially the fishing families, will become more prosperous, secure, and be protected from dangers, including malevolent spirits. The religious values within the tradition are packaged in the form of collective remembrance (zikir) to strengthen faith in Allah. Meanwhile, the timing of the organization, coinciding with the commemoration of Independence Day, is an effort to preserve and foster a spirit of love for the homeland.

Abstract

Abstract

This research will take the object of the mupu tradition of 'mupu' or child adoption in framing religious moderation towards a harmonious family or Sakinah which is aligned with the views of the Koran. The aim of this research is to provide an explanation of the application of the principles of religious moderation which can be applied to frame a harmonious family through the 'mupu' tradition and the problems in implementing child adoption in terms of Islamic law contained in the Koran. The research uses qualitative research based on library research with the Maudhui interpretation method, the Maqasidi approach. The results of this research are first, that the practice of 'mupu' children can be used as a solution to overcome the problem of family disharmony for those who have the weakness of not having children by implementing tawasuth (the Middle Way) and shura or mutual consultation between husband and wife and family), secondly, it is forbidden for someone to name or call an adopted child to someone other than his father. However, it is permissible if this is due to someone's ignorance. Adoption or 'mupu' was already practiced by the Prophet Muhammad, namely adopting Zaid bin Haritsah as his own son.

Abstract

This study highlights the differences in the Qur’anic rasm writing system between a manuscript from Bangkalan and the Indonesian Standard Mushaf (MSI). This topic is significant because the manuscript tradition in the Indonesian archipelago does not fully adhere to the rules of rasm ʿUthmānī as formulated by Abu Amr al-Dānī, but instead displays variations that reflect local identity. The main objective of this research is to identify the forms of variation, evaluate the consistency of rasm application in the Bangkalan manuscript, and situate it within the broader framework of Qur’anic transmission in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, using descriptive-comparative analysis of Sūrat al-Baqarah as the sample text. The findings reveal notable differences between the Bangkalan manuscript and MSI, particularly in the use of alif in specific words and the application of the ḥadẓf rule, which do not fully conform to the established standard. These variations indicate that Nusantara manuscripts function not only as vessels for transmitting the sacred text but also as cultural artifacts that embody the dynamics of codicology, philology, and the local history of Qur’anic copying. The study underscores the importance of preserving and examining Nusantara Qur’anic manuscripts, both as valuable academic resources and as an Islamic intellectual heritage that contributes to understanding the diversity of rasm traditions beyond the ʿUthmānī standard.
