Saat ini, semakin banyak penutur bahasa sering membingungkan penggunaan bahasa dalam lirik lagu (kode campuran). Lirik lagu adalah bentuk komunikasi antara penulis lagu dan pendengar yang tentunya mengandung beberapa komponen ucapan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan kode campuran dalam lirik lagu Aceh dan memeriksa komponen pidato yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu Aceh berdasarkan konteks SPEAKING dari Hymes. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiolinguistik. Sumber data penelitian adalah lirik lagu PHP (permisi) yang terdapat dalam album Boh Hate-Bergek. Pengumpulan data menggunakan merujuk ke metode dengan teknik melihat atau observasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa jenis kode campuran yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu PHP (permisi) adalah jenis kode campuran yang berasal dari bahasa Aceh dan bahasa Indonesia lalu mencampur kode keluar yang bersumber dari bahasa Inggris. Seluruh komponen pidato ditemukan dalam lirik lagu PHP (permisi).

This research aimed to find out Google Classroom effectiveness, which was used to enhance students’ speaking skill. This research used a quasi-experimental with a pre-experimental research design. The subject of this study is the eleventh grade of senior high school at SMA N 1 M. Payed. It involved 25 students as a sample of this study. In the process of data collection, the researcher used a pre-test and post-test. The researcher analyzed the data using Wilcoxon Ranks Test to test the hypothesis. This study found the value of significance (2-tailed) was lower than the significance level (0.000 < 0.05), then the Ha was accepted. It means there was a significant value on students’ achievement of the speaking skill by using Google Classroom. Finding obtained of pretest 71,20 and posttest 78,16. In conclusion, the mean pretest and posttest scores differ significantly, or there is an effect of using google classroom enhancing students speaking skill at SMA N 1 Manyak Payed. However, it can be concluded that Google Classroom significantly affects students’ speaking skill and helps them finish and collect the assignment without any bound by time and space.Keywords: google classroom; teaching English; Covid-19

This study aimed to analyze the English subject in two vocational schools in Kota Langsa based on English for Specific Purposes (ESP) approach and how it was implemented in the classroom. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method. The two vocational schools involved in the research are Hotel Hospitality Management and Maritime Fishing Vessel Engineering. The data were gained from the teachers and students by conducting observation, interview, Focus Group Discusssion (FGD), and document analysis of syllabus and teaching materials. The data were analyzed by comparing the real condition of teaching-learning process and the ideal condition based on ESP approach. The finding showed that the two schools used General English (GE) frequently rather than ESP on English subject. Despite the common use of GE in these two schools, they had the option to adjust their English subject into ESP standard. One school had the ESP subject called English for Maritime and another school chose Mandarin subject as the option. As a result, the school only had GE for English subject. Thus, the English subject was taught and designed as English for General Purposes rather than English for Specific Purposes.

Translation learning is one of the main focuses in language learning and teaching activities in the English class in the agribusiness study program at the University of Samudra so that consciously or unconsciously students have taken the action of translating between Indonesian and English. This study wants to see the ability of bilingual translation with respect to the word 'di atas' which is translated from Indonesian to English. The interlingual translation of the word 'di atas' results in several products of translating into English such as the preposition 'on', 'above' and 'over'. Starting from the same source language but after being translated into English, the three interlingual translation products have almost the same function and but not the same thing. This research method is a test method with a quantitative descriptive approach given through the Whatspp application because the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing until this research is worked on. The research object was 32 students with a time limit given to answer the test is 15 minutes. With the dominance of the student's success in answering the test correctly and the success rate being above 50% or half of the total number of research objects, the student's ability to answer the test correctly to the interlingual translation problem in this study is good. Likewise, from the questionnaire data obtained as many as 59% of students who translate interlingually 'di atas’ into over, it can be concluded that students are good at understanding the function of the prepositions given in the test questions.

This research aimed to apply Sociodrama Technique in teaching speaking. The study's objective was to investigate whether there is a significant difference in speaking scores between learners treated by Sociodrama and those who were not. The methodology of this study was an experimental research method with a significance level of α=0.05. The samples of this study were 70 students in the 7th grade at one of the private junior high school in Lhokseumawe, Indonesia. These students were grouped into experimental and control groups, 35 students each. The instrument used was a test administrated in the form of pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using SPSS 20, the statistical package for social science. The data were considered normal and homogenous. From the t-test, the result showed that the critical area was higher than 2.00. The tcount value from the post-test between the Experimental and Control class is 2.54, which undoubtedly lies within the critical area. In conclusion, the sociodrama technique improved students' speaking ability.

Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis proposal skripsi sehingga dapat mempermudah pembimbingan oleh dosen pembimbing dan dapat mempercepat mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan seminar proposal skripsi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan pelatihan melalui zoom cloud meeting, membagikan handout, dan melakukan latihan-latihan. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris sebanyak 65 orang dengan narasumber sebanyak tiga orang yang merupakan Tim PKM serta dibantu oleh 2 mahasiswa sebagai panitia. Kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan dalam waktu 5 hari dengan memberikan materi yang berhubungan dengan penulisan proposal skripsi dari sudut pandang academic writing. Hasil dari pelatihan yang bersumber dari data pendaftaran seminar proposal di Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris memperlihatkan bahwa ada tren peningkatan jumlah mahasiswa yang mendaftar seminar proposal. Selain itu, berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan 5 dosen pembimbing bahwa mereka merasa lebih mudah membimbing dan meng-ACC proposal skripsi mahasiswa salahsatunya karena gaya penulisannya sudah bagus sesuai academic writing. Dari hasil itu, direkomendasikan untuk mengumpulkan handouts pelatihan ini menjadi sebuah buku panduan penulisan proposal dan skripsi mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris.

Kemampuan dalam menghasilkan karya ilmiah sangat dibutuhkan guru dan kepala sekolah. Konsekuensi sulit untuk naik pangkat menjadi salah satu pertimbangan utama saat ini kenapa guru dan seluruh tenaga kependidikan lainnya harus terus belajar menulis artikel ilmiah untuk dipublikasikan. Fakta di lapangan menunjukkan mayoritas guru belum mampu menghasilkan dan melakukan publikasi ilmiah, sehingga membutuhkan pendampingan khusus dan terstruktur. Maka dari itu, tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah melaksanakan pendampingan kepada guru, kepala sekolah dan tenaga kependidikan lainnya serta berusaha menjadikan para tenaga pendidik agar termotivasi untuk mampu menulis dan menyusun artikel ilmiah. Pada akhirnya nanti artikel dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu dokumen yang disyaratkan dalam pengajuan kenaikan pangkat sehingga berdampak atau berpengaruh positif juga terhadap profesionalitas guru. Pertemuan pertama mencakup pelatihan penulisan laporan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) menggunakan metode ceramah, tanya jawab, diskusi dan simulasi. Kemudian peserta pelatihan diberikan tugas untuk menulis karya ilmiah berupa laporan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), dilanjutkan dengan konsultasi dengan tim PKM tentang masalah yang ditemukan pada proses penulisan karya ilmiah. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan untuk mensubmit karya ilmiah dari laporan PTK ke jurnal ilmiah terakreditasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini memberikan manfaat bagi para peserta pelatihan dengan bertambahnya pemahaman dan keterampilan dalam menulis artikel ilmiah.

The aim of this study was to find out kinds of non-verbal communication that use by two important element in learning, namely teacher and student and also to find out the impact of using the non-verbal communication to the learning process and the purpose of the study.

The use of tests that is suitable for use by teachers in learning needs to be considered. This aims to produce a satisfactory of the test result. So the teacher needs to consider what type of test is given to students. So the researcher conducted a study to analyze of effectiveness of test design between of cloze test and multiple choice test for reading comprehension at SMA Negeri 3 Langsa. The purposes of research were to find out if there is a difference between multiple choice test and cloze test in teaching EFL for reading comprehension and to find out which of the most effectiveness between multiple choice tests or cloze test in teaching EFL for reading comprehension. The method of this research is qualitative approach. The sample of this research is the students at class XII Bahasa in SMA Negeri 3 Langsa. In this study, the researcher collected data to conduct on 22nd October 2018 until 19th October 2018 in SMAN 3 Langsa. The result of study showed that the result of testing the students’ reading comprehension showed that the students’ test 1 showed that multiple choice test has mean score 8,1 and cloze test has mean score 7,3. It meant multiple choice test more effective in testing reading comprehension for the students. The result of the students’ test 2 showed that multiple choice test has mean score 8 and cloze test has mean score 5,3. It meant multiple choice test more effective in testing reading comprehension for the students and the result of the teachers’ interview showed that multiple choice test more effective than cloze test but the result of the students’ interview showed that multiple choice test was very difficult. It meant the result of the students’ test between the students’ interview opposite because the students said multiple choice test was very difficult, automatically the students got the multiple choice test score lower than the cloze test score.
