Abstract

Background: The use of traditional medicine as herbs increased relatively neither in developing countries nor developed countries. Efficacy of herbs trusted hereditary. People use herbs as treatment therapy and maintain the health of the body. Some herbs mix medicinal chemical materials illegally. Abuse of it can affect public perception about used herbs in Rowobelang Village, Batang District. Method: This research is a descriptive observational study using a questionnaire instrument containing respondents' sociodemographic data and ten statements to measure public perception about using herbs. The public perception profile was measured in three aspects, there were efficacy aspect, accessibility aspect and safety aspect. Data was taken by using purposive sampling. Results: This research uses 320 respondents as the sample who belong to the inclusion criteria. Characteristics of respondents who filled out the questionnaire are 36-45 years old (35%), high school educated (43,8%), female (63,4%), and have a job (66,5%). The highest aspect that had a high percentage was the efficacy aspect, and the lowest was the safety aspect (28,46%).Conclusion: The result indicates the public perception of herbs used in Rowobelang Village is in the good perception category (72,5%).

Abstract

Prescription screening is one of the pharmaceutical services conducted by examining prescriptions according to administrative, pharmaceutical, and clinical requirements aimed at preventing medication errors. Administrative requirements ensure prescriptions legality while pharmaceutical requirements assure therapeutic success. The study aimto determine administrative and pharmaceutical completeness of prescriptions in Mranggen Pharmacy, Demak Regency.This study is a descriptive observational study using prospective data from prescriptions in Mranggen Pharmacy, Demak Regency, in February 2023. The study used forms to assess the completeness of administrative and pharmaceutical aspects. Complete administrative data includes prescription date, doctor's name, doctor's practice license number, doctor's signature, patient's name, gender, age, address, and weight. Complete pharmaceutical data includes drug name, dosage forms, drug strength, drug unit, drug quantity, and instructions for use. The data was analyzed quantitatively to determine the percentage of administrative completeness, pharmaceutical completeness, and both.This study involved 311 prescription sheets and 43 copies of prescriptions. The results indicate that 12.15% of prescriptions are complete administratively, 47.74% are complete pharmaceutically, and 9.32% are complete in both aspects. The name, quantity, and how or when to use the medication is 100% while the lowest completeness is the aspect of patient's weight, which is 14.2%

Abstract

Self-medication is an effort to treat the common health problems or symptoms without medical supervision. Although it has good intentions, self-medication also has the potential to be harm if it is not supported by adequate knowledge. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of community knowledge and attitude towards self-medication of gastritis in Gagaan Village, Blora Regency. This cross-sectional study was undertaken in Gagaan, Blora, Central Java, Indonesia. The study population consisted of people who had done self-medication about gastritis. The respondents were briefed about the nature of the study and the way to answer the pre-validated questionnaire. The type of questionnaire was closed ended questions for knowledge level assessment and likert scale questions for attitude level assessment. The data was analysed and were espressed as percentage. The questionnaire was administered to 113 respondents who had self-medicated for gastritis. Out of the 113 respondents, 64 (56,6%) were female and 49 (43,4%) were male; their mean age in years + SD was 33,15. + 13,94; 75 (66,4%) were worker; and 48 (42,5%) were undergraduate. Of the respondents, 92,9% had a high level of knowledge and 76,1% had a good attitude in the self-medication of gastritis. More than 70% (72,1%) respondents had a high knowledge level and good attitude. Knowledge of appropriate self-medication was high and attitude towards self-medication was good.

Abstract

Hypertension is the highest case of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Pekalongan City. Uncontrolled hypertension can increase the risk of morbidity and mortality. Taking antihypertensive medication regularly can control the blood pressure of hypertensive patients so compliance with taking medication is the main factor that influences the success of therapy. This study aims to determine the medication compliance of hypertensive patients who are national health insurance participants at the Outpatient Installation of Siti Khodijah Hospital, Pekalongan City. This research is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used is accidental sampling. Compliance was measured using the MMAS-8 (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale) questionnaire. Respondents were hypertensive patients in the outpatient installation of Siti Khodijah Hospital, Pekalongan City, aged ≥26 years, who were National Health Insurance participants and underwent examinations in March-April 2023. The data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results revealed that of the 260 respondents consisting of 150 female patients and 110 male patients, most of the patients were ≥46 years old (91.92%), had an educational background of elementary school graduates (32.7%), high school (32.3%) and higher education (35%). A total of 67 respondents were housewives (25.77%) and 47 respondents did not work (18.07%). Meanwhile, others work in various professions such as teachers/lecturers, state civil servants, private employees and entrepreneurs. The adherence to taking medication for hypertensive patients at the Outpatient Installation of Siti Khodijah Hospital, Pekalongan City, was 82.31% compliant and 17.69% non-compliant. Patients aged ≥46 years were more compliant. Adherence to taking medication decreases as the duration of taking medication increases and the number of medications taken increases.

Abstract

Independent treatment is carried out to help improve people's health status at a more affordable cost. A good level of knowledge is required to ensure the success of self-medication therapy. A national movement regarding the drug DAGUSIBU needs to be carried out to increase public knowledge regarding good drug management to support self-medication behavior. One effort to increase knowledge is carried out through outreach activities to the community. This service activity aims to provide public knowledge about how to properly obtain, use, store and dispose of medicines. The activity stages consist of the preparation/survey, implementation, and evaluation stages. The activity will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in Room A1 of St. Mary's Church Fransiscus Xaverius Kebon Dalem, Semarang and attended by 41 participants. The media used are presentation materials, pocketbooks, and drug samples. The results showed that 97,56% (40 participants) understand how to get the right medicine, but 87,80% (36 participants) are still not precise in using eye drops/ointment. There are 95,12% (39 participants) still do not know how to store and dispose of medicines properly. During the activity, participants were enthusiastic when listening to lectures and discussing. In general, educational outreach about the drug DAGUSIBU has provided additional knowledge to the public.
