Abstract

The postpartum period begins a few hours after the birth of the placenta and continues until approximately 6 weeks after childbirth. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 830 women die every day due to complications from pregnancy and childbirth. In 2015, approximately 303,000 women died during pregnancy, childbirth, or in the postpartum period. The theme of this study is to investigate the influence of postpartum exercise on the speed of uterine involution among postpartum mothers at BPM Mona Durryah Siregar, SKM in North Padangsidimpuan District. This study utilized a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest only design. The research was conducted at BPM Mona Durryah Siregar, SKM in North Padangsidimpuan District. The population consisted of 10 postpartum mothers, with a sample size of 10. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analyses. The results of the study showed a significant decrease in uterine fundus height among the 10 respondents, with a percentage of 2.70%. None of the respondents experienced subinvolution after the postpartum exercise intervention. However, 10 respondents faced challenges in decreasing uterine fundus height both before and after the intervention. The Wilcoxon ρ-value test of 0.004 indicates that postpartum exercise influences the speed of uterine involution among postpartum mothers. The implications of this study suggest that implementing postpartum exercise therapy can accelerate uterine involution among postpartum mothers. It is recommended that these findings be used to develop counseling programs related to postpartum exercise at BPM Mona Durryah Siregar, SKM.

Failure in the breastfeeding process is often caused by the emergence of several problems, both in terms of problems for the mother and the baby. Problems in the mother are inverted nipples, mastitis or breast abscess, swollen breasts, and sore nipples. In infants, it is generally an error in lactation management, which causes a decrease in milk production (lack of milk syndrome). Papaya leaves contain alkaloids that are useful for nursing mothers in facilitating breast milk. Because the content can stimulate the production of breast milk. Abstract

Abstract

This qualitative study examines the barriers faced by elderly populations in Indonesia in accessing reproductive health services, focusing on cervical and prostate cancer screening, sexuality counseling, and menopause/andropause management. Despite the increasing number of older adults, reproductive health services remain predominantly oriented toward younger groups, leaving elderly needs under-addressed. Using semi-structured interviews with 35 elderly individuals, 15 healthcare providers, and 10 policymakers across urban and rural settings, the study identifies significant structural and cultural challenges. Key findings reveal pervasive social stigma surrounding elderly sexuality, inadequate healthcare provider training, and fragmented policy frameworks that fail to explicitly include geriatric reproductive health. Rural participants reported limited availability of essential screenings and counseling services, while many providers perceived elderly reproductive health concerns as low priority. Policy analysis highlights the absence of comprehensive guidelines and inconsistent implementation across regions. These barriers contribute to disparities in service utilization and negatively impact elderly health outcomes. The study recommends evidence-based strategies including stigma reduction initiatives, integration of reproductive health services into primary care for the elderly, enhanced provider education, and the development of targeted policies with dedicated funding. Addressing these challenges is critical to promoting equitable access to reproductive healthcare for Indonesia’s aging population, supporting their right to health and well-being. This research contributes to filling the gap in geriatric reproductive health literature and offers practical policy recommendations to improve service delivery in Indonesia.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a critical public health and social problem in many Indonesian rural areas and is closely related to low reproductive health literacy, gender norms, and limited access to youth‑friendly information and services. Peer‑based approaches are increasingly recognized as effective in changing adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes regarding early marriage and reproductive health. This quantitative study aimed to analyze the effect of peer counselor training on the knowledge and attitudes of adolescent health cadres toward early marriage prevention in Village X. A quasi‑experimental one‑group pretest–posttest design was applied to 30 adolescent health cadres selected through purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of a structured peer counselor training program on reproductive health, risks of early marriage, communication skills, and basic counseling techniques. Knowledge and attitudes were measured using validated questionnaires before and four weeks after the training. Data were analyzed using paired t‑test or Wilcoxon test according to distribution assumptions. The results showed a statistically significant increase in mean knowledge and attitude scores after training, indicating improved cognitive and affective readiness of adolescent cadres to act as peer counselors. These findings support strengthening community‑based adolescent health promotion through systematic empowerment of peer counselors to prevent early marriage in rural settings.
