Abstract

Inflammation is a protective response on the body from injury of cell. Edema is one of inflammation sign. It was reported that Pandanus conoideus Lam. and Orthosiphon aristatus Mig. empirically used as an antiinflammation. The aim of this research was determining the combination effect of Pandanus conoideus Lam. and Orthosiphon aristatus Mig. based on formation edema volume on sole of foot male mice againts carrageenan, inflammation that occurs is measured using the pletysmometer. In the research, we used sodium CMC as a negative control and sodium diclofenac as a positive control administered topically. While combination of Pandanus conoideus Lam. and Orthosiphon aristatus Mig. with a ratio of 2:1. The result showed decrease edema with percent of inhibition 76,92% Respectively, as a conclussion the result indicate Natrium diklofenak didn't showed significant effect compare with the testing data.

Abstract

Endophytic fungi are fungi colonize internally plant tissue, without giving detrimental effect to the host plant. They act as symbiont, mediated plant resistance against biotic stress i.e. pests and diasease and abiotic stress such as drought and extreme of temperature. Endophytic fungi are one of the most creative groups of secondary metabolite producers that play important biological roles for human life. Fungi are among the most important groups of eukaryotic organisms that are well known for producing many novel metabolites which are directly used as drugs or function as lead structure for modification.Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is one of the genus species known to have secondary metabolite compound that can be used as an antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, antidiabetic, antihypertensive, hypolipidemic, fever, flu, cough, antiemetic and gastrointestinal disorders. This research aimed to determine antibacterial activity of Mulberry Fungi from the leaves against the bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Isolation of endophytic fungal carried by the direct isolation techniques. Isolates which produced as much as 3 isolates the MUR1, MUR2 and MUR3. Further isolates fermented using PDY medium and extracted using ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate extract qualitative test the activity against bacteria Escherechia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The result of the antibacteria activity, ethyl acetat extract from fermentation medium PDY of Mulbery (Morus alba L.) inhibited growth of Escherechia coli and Staphylococcus aureus at > 12 mm Keywords: Endophytic fungi, Mulberry (Morus alba L.), Antibiotic.

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria (BAL) is a gram-positive bacterium in the form of stems or round, not forming spores, anaerobic facultative fermentation and has the ability to ferment glucose into lactic acid. The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify lactic acid bacteria from spinach and mustard vegetable waste which can be used as food preservative. The isolation result was obtained by 10 isolates suspected as lactic acid bacteria. The isolates obtained were identified macroscopically, fermentation test, gram staining, spore staining and catalase test. From the macroscopic identification of samples of spinach and mustard, the isolates were white milk, rounded circular edges, kensitri surface and convex elevation. The fermentation test indicates that are heterofermentative and. All isolates obtained in the form of gram-positive bacteria had no negative spores and catalases and its alleged are Lactobasillus.

Abstract

Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) is a group of bacteria that produce lactic acid as the main product in carbohydrate  fermentation. LAB has a major role to fight against pathogenic bacteria through peptide compounds. LAB can be found in vegetables that contain carbohydrates. The research objective was to determine biochemically and determine the antibacterial activity of LAB isolates from Brassica juncea L vegetable waste. Biochemical testing methods include TSIA, Indol, MR_VP, motility, temperature resistance and salt resistance tests. While testing the activity using the disc diffution method is used by the media Mueller Hinton Agar against Basillus subtilis,  Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus mutans, Salmonella thypimurium, and Propionibacterium acnes.  Preparation of the test sample was carried out by inoculating LAB  isolate stock for 1x24 hours at 37 ° C. Biochemical identification results showed that LAB isolates were able to ferment glucose, negative in indole and VP testing, positive in MR testing was characterized by obtaining acidic pH, non-motile nature, living at 37 ° C, and resistant to several salt concentrations (5-10%). The results of testing antibacterial activity based on univariate analysis showed differences in the activity of each of the test bacteria obtained p = 0,730 (p>0,05). LSD analysis showed no significant differences between all isolates. Conclusion: isolates obtained included LAB  group from the family Lactobacillaceae, genus Lactobacillus sp and the antibacterial activity was broad spectrum

Abstract

Daun sirih hijau (Piper betle L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang digunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia sebagai obat tradisional. Ekstrak etil asetat daun sirih hijau mengandung senyawa antibakteri yang terdiri dari senyawa fenol dan turunannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etil asetat daun sirih hijau terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis. Sirih hijau diekstraksi menggunakan pelarut etil asetat dan diuji aktivitas penghambatannya terhadap  bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis dengan metode difusi agar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan daya hambat ekstrak pada konsentrasi 3% dan 5%, yaitu 9,8 dan 15 mm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dalam kategori sedang-kuat.Kata kunci  : Daun sirih hijau, Piper betle L difusi agar, Staphylococcus epidermidis, etil asetat

Abstract

 One area in Takalar district that still uses traditional medicine as an alternative treatment is Galesong Baru village. The use of traditional medicine in this area is based on traditonally principles, or ancestral recipes, customs, beliefs, or local customs. This service activity aims to provide knowledge and skills to the Galesong Baru community about the use of traditional medicine. The Activities are carried out online and offline using lecture methods, discussions, video screenings of traditional medicinal processing and distribution of books on traditional medicinal plants. The counseling materials provided included the definition of traditional medicine, general instructions for the use of traditional medicine and the provision of examples of traditional medicinal ingredients such as Zingiber cassumunar, Kaempferia galanga L, Zingiber officinale Rosc, Zingiber officinale varietas rubrum, Andrographis paniculata and Piper betle. The results of community service activities have provided increased knowledge and skills from the community on how to utilisation of traditional plants.Keywords : Traditional medicine, Dedicated to Community, Galesong BaruSalah satu wilayah di kabupaten Takalar yang masih memanfaatkan obat tradisional sebagai alternative pengobatan adalah desa Galesong Baru. Penggunaan obat tradisional di wilayah ini berdasarkan prinsip turun temurun, atau resep nenek moyang , adat-istiadat, kepercayaan, atau kebiasaan setempat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada masyarakat Galesong Baru tentang penggunaan obat tradisional. Kegiatan dilakukan secara daring maupun luring dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi, pemutaran video pengolahan obat tradisional serta pembagian buku tanaman obat tradisional. Materi penyuluhan yang diberikan meliputi pengertian obat tradisional, petunjuk umum penggunaan obat tradisional dan pemberian contoh ramuan obat tradisional seperti bangle, kencur, jahe merah, jahe, sambiloto dan sirih. Hasil Kegiatan pengabdian telah memberikan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dari masyarakat tentang cara pemamfaatan tanaman tradisional.Kata Kunci : Pengobatan tradisional, Pengabdian kepada masyarakat

Abstract

Utilization of Arachis hypogaea L. which has the potential as antibacterial. This is due to the presence of compounds that have the potential to be antibacterial, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids and tannins. This study aims to determine the activity, formulation, and evaluation of preparations and to test the effectiveness of liquid soap preparations from ethanol extract of peanut outer shells against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Extraction was carried out by maceration method using 70% ethanol, testing for antibacterial activity using agar diffusion method and then formulated using surfactant variations and evaluating preparations including organoleptic, testing pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and foam height and testing the effectiveness of liquid soap. The results showed that the extract yield was 6.5%. The results of the One-Way ANOVA data analysis on the antibacterial activity test showed that there were differences between the various treatments with a value of p=0.000 (p>0.05). The evaluation results of soap show that the three formulas meet SNI standards. And for the results of the LSD analysis, the data on the effectiveness of liquid soap preparations showed that the value of p=0.334 means that Formula 1 and 2 are not significant (p>0.05) and formulas 2 and 3 are significant with p=0.042 (p<0.05). The effectiveness of liquid soap from the peanut outer shell waste extract was influenced by the surfactant concentration.

Abstract

It can be obtained from vegetables containing carbohydrates and produces organic acid metabolites, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocin with antimicrobial properties. These antimicrobial compounds inhibit the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including the pathogenic and spoilage. This study determines the antibacterial activity of LAB isolates from spinach vegetable waste using the pour method. The biochemical testing includes TSIA, Indol, MR_VP, motility, and temperature and salt resistance tests. Furthermore, activity testing uses the disc diffusion method with Mueller Hinton Agar media against Basillus subtilis Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus mutans, Salmonella thypimurium, and Propionibacterium acnes. Preparation of the test sample was carried out by inoculating the LAB isolate stock for 1x24 hours at 37 ° C. The results of biochemical identification showed the isolates fermented glucose and were negative in the indole and VP testing. Also, it was positive in MR testing, which was marked by acidic pH, non-motile nature, active at 37 ° C, and resistant to several salt concentrations. The antibacterial activity based on univariate analysis showed differences in the activity of each test bacteria. There was a significant difference between isolates A to B, D, and positive control. The isolates obtained included the LAB group from the Lactobacillaceae family, genus Lactobacillus sp. The best activity was shown in isolate A with a broad spectrum.Keywords: identification, biochemistry, lactic acid bacteria, antibacterial, spinach, isolates A, B, and D.Bakteri asam laktat (BAL) merupakan bakteri pembentuk asam laktat dalam metabolisme karbohidrat. BAL mempunyai peranan penting untuk melawan bakteri patogen melalui senyawa peptida. BAL dapat diperoleh dari sayuran yang mengandung karbohidrat. BAL ini mampu menghasilkan metabolit asam organik, hidrogen peroksida, dan bakteriosin yang bersifat sebagai antimikroba. Senyawa antimikroba ini mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri gram positif dan gram negatif, termasuk bakteri patogen dan bakteri pembusuk Tujuan penelitian mengidentifikasi secara biokimia dan menentukan aktivitas antibakteri isolat BAL dari limbah sayur Bayam. Metode isolasi BAL menggunakan metode tuang, pengujian biokimia meliputi uji TSIA, Indol, MR_VP, motilitas, ketahanan suhu dan ketahanan garam. Sedangkan pengujian aktivitas menggunakan metode disc diffution agar menggunakan media Mueller Hinton Agar terhadap bakteri Basillus subtilis Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus mutans, Salmonella thypimurium, dan Propionibacterium acnes. Penyiapan sampel uji dilakukan dengan menginokulasi stok isolat BAL selama 1x24 jam pada suhu 37 °C. Hasil identifikasi biokimia menunjukkan bahwa isolat BAL mampu memfermentasi glukosa, negatif pada pengujian indol dan VP , positif pada pengujian MR di tandai dengan diperolehnya pH asam, bersifat non motil, hidup pada suhu 37°C, serta tahan terhadap beberapa konsentrasi garam. Hasil pengujian aktivitas antibateri berdasarkan analisis univariate menunjukkan perbedaan aktivitas dari masing-masing bakteri uji menunjukkan perbedaan sigifikan antara isolat A terhadap isolat B, D dan Kontrol positif. Kesimpulan isolat yang diperoleh termasuk kelompok BAL dari famili Lactobacillaceae, genus Lactobacillus sp dan aktivitas terbaik di tunjukkan pada isolat A dan bersifat spectrum luas.Kata kunci : identifikasi, biokimia, bakteri asam laktat, antibakteri, Bayam, isolat A, B,dan D.

Abstract

DAGUSIBU is an educational program that invites the public to know how to get, use, store and dispose of drugs properly. The Galesong Baru community in Takalar district are used to using modern medicines and traditional medicines in treating diseases, but they do not understand how to manage the medicines they keep at home. The purpose of this extension activity is to increase the community's knowledge about the correct medicinal drugs. Activities are carried out online using the Zoom Meeting application and offline by using lecture and discussion methods. The counseling material consisted of an introduction to the meaning of DAGUSIBU, drug classification, how to use several drug dosage forms, how to store drugs and how to properly dispose of drugs. Results Outreach activities on DAGUSIBU drug education to the Galesong Baru Village community group have provided additional community knowledge about how to properly manage drugs.
