Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) with a Joyful Learning approach assisted by Wordwall media in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes at grade VII of MTs Negeri 1 Lamongan. This research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest model. The sample consisted of 24 students from class VII-I selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a mathematics achievement test administered before and after the treatment. Data was analyzed using normality test, Paired Sample t-Test, and N-Gain calculation. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes, as shown by the t-test significance value of 0.001 (<0.05) and an N-Gain score of 0.7855 categorized as high. These findings demonstrate that the application of the NHT model with Joyful Learning assisted by Wordwall media is effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes. The implication suggests that combining NHT, joyful classroom atmosphere, and interactive digital media can serve as an innovative alternative strategy in mathematics learning.

Abstract

The ability of students to think creatively in solving mathematical problems, especially scatterplot problems, is significantly influenced by various factors, one of which is self-efficacy or students' belief in their abilities. Students with high levels of self-efficacy are usually more capable of overcoming challenges in learning, while students with low self-efficacy often feel hindered and less motivated to find creative solutions. This study aims to investigate the impact of self-efficacy on students' creative thinking abilities in solving scatterplot problems. The study involved students from varying levels of self-efficacy, categorized into three groups: high, moderate, and low. Data were collected through a questionnaire to measure self-efficacy, a creative thinking test, and in-depth interviews to gain insights into students' approaches to solving problems. The results of the study showed that students with high self-efficacy tended to be more creative, confident, and flexible in solving problems, while students with low self-efficacy experienced difficulties in creative thinking, felt uncertain, and avoided challenges. This study highlights the importance of developing self-efficacy in mathematics education, especially in enhancing students' creative thinking abilities. Therefore, teaching strategies that support the improvement of students' self-efficacy can strengthen their creativity and performance in solving more complex problems.

Abstract

Abstract

Mathematics Education students at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, as future mathematics teachers, are required to possess comprehensive competencies to become professional educators. One of these is numeracy competency, which is essential for solving various problems in everyday life. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of training and mentoring in developing ethnomathematics-based numeracy questions among Mathematics Education students, viewed from pedagogical competency standards. Data were collected using tests administered before and after the training and mentoring. The instruments used were test sheets and assessment rubrics to evaluate students’ ability to create ethnomathematics-based numeracy questions based on pedagogical competency standards. The effectiveness of the training and mentoring was determined by analyzing the results of the students’ question development and through statistical analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed an increase in the percentage of each indicator of the pedagogical competency standard, and the Paired Sample T-Test obtained a p-value < 0.05, indicating that the development of ethnomathematics-based numeracy questions after training and mentoring was better than before.
