Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ thinking process in solving the problems of generating function. This is a case study that classifies students into three categories: high, medium, and low. Subjects were asked to solve the problems then use think aloud to reveal their thinking process. The results show that in understanding the problem, using conceptual and procedural knowledge related to the problems, strategies, and experiences they have in solving similar problems between the three subjects is different. Subjects with high and medium capability are able to reveal the problem-solving component of Polya in detail, whereas low-ability subjects use only some of the problem-solving components of Polya.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar mahasiswa dengan menerapkan model Learning Cycle 7E dengan melakukan observasi pada proses pembelajaran. Pada hasil belajar mahasiswa dinilai dengan 2 ranah, yaitu ranah kognitif dan afektif. Learning Cycle 7E terdiri dari tujuh tahapan belajar yaitu: elicit (mendatangkan pengetahuan awal peserta didik), engage (membangkitkan minat), explore (mengeksplor), explain (menjelaskan), elaborate (menerapkan), evaluate (mengevaluasi), dan extend (memperluas). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh pada ranah kognitif masih belum mencapai ketuntasan klasikal, karena karena dari jumlah 34 mahasiswa hanya 22 mahasiswa yang mencapai ketuntasan klasikal dengan presentase 64%. Sedangkan untuk ranah afektif mencapai pada kriteria baik, kjarena pada pertemuan satu dan dua kriteria paling dominan adalah kriteria baik.

Abstract

Covid-19 menyebar secara global memicu pemerintah mengambil kebijakan-kebijakan untuk menanggulangi penyebarannya. Kebijakan tersebut ditindak lanjuti sekolah maupun perguran tinggi dengan menonaktifkan kegiatan perkuliahan secara fisik di lingkungan kampus dan memanfaatkan teknologi virtual dan digital. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan Spada selama masa Covid-19 di Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode angket, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Berdasarkan data yang sudah disebar memalui google form diperoleh hasil bahwa mayoritas dosen di Universitas PGRI Adi buana Surabaya menerapkan Spada selama masa pandemi Covid-19. Sistem pembelajaran daring yang digunakan mayoritas dosen bukanlah virlenda tetapi lebih menggunakan aplikasi zoom meeting. Hal ini diperkuat dari hasil respon angket yang disebar kepada mahasiswa melalui google form diperoleh informasi bahwa aplikasi yang sering digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran adalah zoom meeting. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa sig < 0.05 artinya tidak ada pengaruh penggunaan Spada selama masa Covid-19 di lingkungan Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. Sehingga tidak ada pengaruh antara prestasi belajar mahasiswa sebelum penerapan Spada dengan setelah penerapan Spada di lingkungan Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya.

Abstract

Semantic is associated with the relationship between symbol, reference, and the problem’s context involved in the problem-solving process which also involves reasoning and decision-making. Hence, this study describes the characteristics of students’ semantic reasoning to solve the double discounts problem. 51 high school students in Sidoarjo participated in this qualitative study. The data were collected through 15-20 minutes problem-solving tests. The students' answers were grouped into correct and wrong answers. The correct answers were then regrouped once more based on the strategies used by the students to answer the test and to identify their semantic reasoning characteristics. The data were analyzed by reducing, classifying the think-aloud and observing. Then the similarity of characteristics of students' semantic reasoning when solving the double discount problem was identified. To test the accuracy of the data, triangulation method was used. This semantic reasoning was identified by  (1) giving the problem situation, (2) stating the keywords and their meaning, (3) stating the relationship, (4) transforming it into a mathematics statement, (5) calculating based on their strategies, (6) decision making, and (7) completing the answer interpretation. This study contributes to developing basic knowledge in interpreting each process of solving ill-structured problems until finding a solution.

Abstract

63 students were involved in the study and elected Rizka as the subject of research. This is a case study aimed at describing the cause of Rizka's failure in solving ill-structured problems about the rectangle. The results showed that the subject was able to represent the problem with own language. Rizka failed to build a solution that corresponds to the problem due to partial mastery of the rectangular concept. Rizka uses trial and error because it fails to associate a problem with a square concept that is the key to problem-solving success. Rizka success in the justification process because the process is counting without giving meaning. Meanwhile, the monitoring and evaluation process carried out by Rizka has failed. Rizka confusion determines the final solution because the solution is built does not qualify the problem solution. This is where the Rizka fails to provide the final solution. In this case, teachers have a role to teach their students to build relationships between concepts that can be utilized in problem-solving.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using LMS Quipper School in online learning on student learning outcomes. This study used samples from two high school classes of DR. Soetomo Surabaya. Each class consists of 31 students. This research was conducted to test the validity, reliability, and hypothesis. From the first result, there were 26 valid questions according to the calculation of Rcount > Rtable worth 0.367. In the hypothesis test there are three stages, namely normality test, homogeneity test, and independent t-test. in normality test, the result of significant value is more than 0.05 so that it is normally distributed. In the homogeneity test, it is known that the Fcount of the two classes is 1.397. It will be searched for Ftable with a standard significance of 5% with df numerator (Between Groups) of 1 and df of denominator (within Groups) of 60, it is known that the result of Ftable is 4.03 so it can be concluded that Fcount≤ Ftable, then H0 is accepted. In hypothesis test, the result of sig.(2-tailed) is 0.002 less than 0.05 so that the hypothesis H0 is rejected. So from this conclusion, there is a significant effect on learning outcomes

Abstract

This study was motivated by the difficulties of students transforming the data into frequency tables and graphs and appreciate a group of data. This is envolve in low student understanding. Encounter this situation, researchers felt the need to carry out CAR to rise these problems through PjBL supported by Virlenda and Whatsapp due to the pandemic situation that did not allow offline learning. So, the purpose of this study is to enhance students' statistical understanding through PjBL supported by Virlenda and Whatsapp. The subject 10 students from the 2019-C class of mathematics education program, Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and tests. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The indicators of this study are there is no statistical understanding of students in the category less than "Good Enough" and observation components such as the focus of attention, activity, interest in learning, and seriousness of at least 70% of students. The results of this study, (1) the statistical understanding of all students in the minimum category of "Good" in the second cycle; (2) The observation component to the focus attention, activity, interest, and seriousness in learning satisfy criteria. This shows that the practice of PjBL supported by Virlenda and Whatsapp can improve the statistical understanding of students of mathematics education class 2019-C.
