Islamic banks are one of the financial industries affected by the covid 19 pandemic. The inability to pay their obligations to Islamic banks and deposit withdrawals directly impacts the decline in customer business. This condition increases the risk of Islamic banks so that the ability of Islamic banks is needed to maintain customer loyalty. This study aims to analyze customer preferences and satisfaction with Islamic banking services during the pandemic. The data analyzed is primary data with 308 Islamic bank customers as respondents. Determination of the sample using the purposive sampling method with the criteria of the management of Islamic social organizations has been a customer since before the pandemic and made transactions during the pandemic. The data analysis uses the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method with the Carter approach (Compliance, Assurance, Responsiveness, Tangible, Empathy and Reliability). The results showed that compliance and assurance have a high level of performance with high preferences and satisfaction. Meanwhile, people's preferences are low, and satisfaction is low because their performance is also low in the tangible and reliability aspects. Another finding is that customers have high preferences but low satisfaction because their performance is typical responsiveness, and people have low preferences. Still, high satisfaction lies in the reliability and empathy aspects.

Abstract

Financing through Islamic banks carries a high risk of not being paid according to the contract's terms. As a result, Islamic banks must adhere to a stricter prudence standard. This research looks at the problem-solving model of non-collateral financing, which is influenced by both internal and external factors and carries a higher risk because the client lacks a material legal bond. The research sample consisted of 30 Indonesian Islamic Rural Banks' (BPRS) directors and commissioners. Questionnaires and in-depth interviews were used to collect data, which was then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings of this study show that the non-performing financing settlement model is implemented with early business assistance and then followed by financing relaxation. If no solution is found or the client declares bankruptcy, they may be released with a write-off using reserve funds from the account of writing off accounts receivable or social funds.

Abstract

Sharia industry development encourages experts to design Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosure index that is more compatible with the characteristics of sharia-based corporate. However, studies examining CSR disclosure using Islamic Social Reporting (ISR) index that focuses on detailed results of content analysis from time to time still remains a paucity of evidence. Hence, this study aims to examine the practice of Islamic Social Reporting disclosure of sharia commercial banks in Indonesia. Drawing on the data obtained from CSR reports established by sharia banks in Indonesia, the results of content analysis disclosed that the ISR disclosure showed a fluctuating trend. It was also revealed that the six themes of ISR index have not been optimally disclosed. ISR disclosures of sharia banks in Indonesia were categorized as good since the average disclosure reached 50% in 2015 up to 2017, especially the corporate governance disclosure. This study’s results imply that it is necessary to increase the disclosures that can be strengthened by regulations from financial regulators and Islamic banking associations to increase public trust and value-added of sharia commercial banks. This study contributes to the development of sharia banks as fruitful insights on policy recommendations for Islamic banks' top management.

Abstract

Islamic micro-financial institutions (LKMS) provide services for micro businesses in the form of deposits, financing, and social assistance as the main activities. The COVID-19 pandemic engenders an adverse impact, breeding members’ inabilities to measure up to their duties. The inabilities are regretted as LKMS should have also been able to assist its members in sustaining as a form of social responsibility. The research aims to prove paradoxes in business and social performance. We applied a descriptive quantitative approach to a secondary data analysis of business and social performance reports during the COVID-19 pandemic until 2021. The research population covered 154 members of the Islamic cooperative parent, and the samples were 51 LKMS in the Islamic cooperative center. Conclusions were drawn from data analysis using stakeholder and stewardship theories. The results demonstrated that the COVID-19 pandemic incurred negative impacts, i.e., a decreased business performance of LKMS of 8.4% on average for two years. Meanwhile, another finding exhibited an increase in social performance by 27%. Based on the data, we could argue that a decrease in LKMS business performance bred an increase in social performance.
