Abstract

To obtain a comprehensive study, I will see the Sufi order’s wisdoms implemented by the adherents of Qadiriyyah Naqshbandiyyah order of Pekalongan – by using Weber’s theory the spirit of capitalism – in order to achieve their economic activities. In addition, how the Islamic teachings (tarekat ethics) are transforming their business. In an attempt to bring to the surface of the ethics in economic activities, this study will examine the order’s teachings practiced by the adherents of Qadiriyyah Naqshbandiyyah order of Pekalongan in one period of field research from June to October 2010. This is done by means of a process – as objective as possible – of description and interpretation. As I study my primary resources (from the books, magazines, websites, and interviews), my attention is focused on the treatment of the subject, how the order’s ethics are articulated, and the way in which they function to observe the religious teachings in their business activities. This paper will explain social and historical background of Qadiriyyah Naqshbandiyyah order of Pekalongan, decribe the teachings and practices which are implemented by the adherents, and finally clarify the influence of its teachings into the business activities of the adherents.

Abstract

Abstract: The success of Chinese Muslim entrepreneurs in businessis a well-known fact. On one side, there are explicit or implicitregulations in Jogjakarta (Java), discouraging the ethnic Chinese fromworking in non-commercial sectors. Their only opportunity to makea living is business. But, on the other side, their success warrantsnotice that even though the businessmen run their business withscientifical management, actually they have dependence on theirculture, ethics, and religious beliefs. This is because business is amobile activity. Business without reliable ethics can not succeedreliably. If business is a kind of human activity, business ethics can beperceived as a reflection of the actors in their behaviors.Through descriptive and interpretative approaches, this study reachedthe following conclu-sions: firstly, the Chinese Muslim entrepreneursof Jogjakarta are dependent on the constructs of business ethics whichcontain work ethos, hard work, thrift, honesty, and trust. Thosecharacteristics are then implemented in their business activities. Therefore, they have awareness in implementing business ethics inorder to engage in business as long as their life. They do their businesswith high self-discipline, self-confidence, diligence, industriousness, and hard work from the younger years in order to have highconsciousness to run their business in their maturity.Secondly, it can be said that Islamic teachings, for Chinese Muslimentrepreneurs of Jogjakarta, have a significant role in constructingtheir business ethics. These indications can be seen in their business activities and their perceptions. Its teachings are perceived as a sourceof motivation in economic behaviors. Even though their business ethicscannot be said to derive from religious teachings only, but rather thatsuch ethics progress along with the socio-cultural, socio-economicand socio-political developments of the community.

Abstract

Islamic banks are one of the financial industries affected by the covid 19 pandemic. The inability to pay their obligations to Islamic banks and deposit withdrawals directly impacts the decline in customer business. This condition increases the risk of Islamic banks so that the ability of Islamic banks is needed to maintain customer loyalty. This study aims to analyze customer preferences and satisfaction with Islamic banking services during the pandemic. The data analyzed is primary data with 308 Islamic bank customers as respondents. Determination of the sample using the purposive sampling method with the criteria of the management of Islamic social organizations has been a customer since before the pandemic and made transactions during the pandemic. The data analysis uses the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method with the Carter approach (Compliance, Assurance, Responsiveness, Tangible, Empathy and Reliability). The results showed that compliance and assurance have a high level of performance with high preferences and satisfaction. Meanwhile, people's preferences are low, and satisfaction is low because their performance is also low in the tangible and reliability aspects. Another finding is that customers have high preferences but low satisfaction because their performance is typical responsiveness, and people have low preferences. Still, high satisfaction lies in the reliability and empathy aspects.
