Abstract

Cibunian Village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency, has great potential as an ecotourism destination. One of the unique tourist destinations currently being developed is the Bogor Waqf Forest. However, this village is highly prone to landslides, requiring collaboration from various parties to address the issue. One of the potential collaborations is with the youth, through the Cibunian Village Youth Organization (Karang Taruna). This community service program aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the Cibunian Village Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) administrators regarding zakat waqf literacy, waqf-based forests, Waqf Forest applications, and carbon accounting. The entire series of activities was held in September 2024, in the form of four training sessions. The first two sessions are lectures by resource persons on zakat waqf literacy and waqf-based forests, and the final two sessions are practical carbon accounting for trees in the Bogor Waqf Forest and the use of the Waqf Forest application. The data collection method was through questionnaires before and after training, analyzed descriptively, as well as an assessment of direct practical activities during the training session. Based on observations, it can be concluded that the Cibunian Village Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) has improved their understanding of the basic concepts of zakat and waqf, as well as their ability to conduct surveys, operate the Waqf Forest application, perform carbon calculations, and manage waqf-based forests. This can enhance the sense of ownership and role of local communities in protecting the environment, preventing disasters, and optimizing village potential through waqf-based forests.

Abstract. Dulbari, Mutaqin Z, Sutrisno H, Nuryanti NSP, Yuriansyah, Sudrajat D, Ahyuni D, Saputra H, Budiarti L, Priyadi, Rochman F, Rahmadi R, Firmansyah MA, Saijo. 2023. Agronomic and morphological characteristics of two rice genotypes plant in open land and under two years of sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria). Biodiversitas 24: 4927-4933. The increase in population is the biggest challenge for the agricultural sector in providing food needs. The main problem in increasing food production in Indonesia is the limited agricultural land. There is a need to explore alternative land options to address this issue and enhance production capacity, specifically for rice at the national level. One of the potential solutions is to use land currently occupied by plantation crops and forests that can be managed through agroforestry. Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria (L) I.C.Nielsen) is a forestry plant that offers a comparative advantage for investigation in agroforestry systems due to its relatively open canopy cover and classification as a legume. Therefore, this research aimed to determine the response of the morphological and agronomic characters of two rice genotypes planted in open land under 2-year-old sengon stands. The experiment was conducted from October 2017 to March 2018 in the Sengon community forest of Cikarawang, Bogor, with coordinates 06° 33.061' S and 106° 43.987' E. The results showed that two rice genotypes grown under one-year-old sengon stands experienced decreased productive tillers, plant height, stem strength, and the number and weight of grains per panicle. The IR 64 genotype decreased by 40.65% in grain weight per panicle, while the Situ Patenggang genotype experienced a 56.21% decrease.

Abstract

Abstract. Firmansyah MA, Hartoyo APP, Wijayanto N, Erfiani, Jayanegara A, Purnama TJ. 2025. The prevalence of Rhizoctonia sp. and its impacts on growth and yields of upland paddy (Oryza sativa) planted under sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria) agroforestry. Biodiversitas 26: 2746-2753. Agroforestry is a land management system that integrates trees and agricultural crops to optimize land use for generating socio-economic and ecosystem functions. Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria), a fast-growing species, can be effectively combined with upland paddy (Oryza sativa) under agroforestry system to enhance land productivity and environmental sustainability, but this system is not free from pests and diseases. This study aimed to analyze the prevalence of disease caused by Rhizoctonia sp. on upland paddy and its impacts on the paddy growth and yields as well as the total biomass of sengon in an agroforestry system. The research employed a completely randomized factorial design with repeated measurements, consisting of two factors: Planting system (monoculture and agroforestry) and paddy varieties (Situpatenggang and IR64); each treatment with three replications. The findings indicated that paddy growth was broadly similar across all treatments, though the disease attack and intensity levels were pervasive and nearly uniform. The agroforestry system, particularly with a planting distance of 2 × 2 meters, increased 23.2% paddy grain weight, although it did not prevent the spread of the inoculated disease. The total sengon biomass was 16.95 Mg/ha, with a total carbon stock of 7.80 MgC/ha, highlighting the potential of agroforestry systems for carbon sequestration. These results suggest that agroforestry systems offer significant benefits for paddy yield and carbon stock; yet they require careful management of disease risks to optimize outcomes. Therefore, integrating sengon and paddy in agroforestry systems positively impacts paddy yields and contributes to environmental sustainability. These findings underscore the importance of agroforestry systems in balancing agricultural productivity with ecological sustainability despite the challenges posed by disease and shading.
